Randy Travis’ memorable mug shot

TMZ

TMZ

Is there a Gold Medal for celebrity mug shots? If so country singer Randy Travis wins, forever and ever, Amen. He stuck the landing with this gem, posted on TMZ.

It seems Travis and members of the Grayson County (Tex.) Sheriff’s Office got acquainted following a 911 call.

“They noticed Travis’ 1998 Pontiac Trans Am had driven off the road and slammed into several barricades in a construction zone,” TMZ reported.

It actually goes downhill from there. (Hint: the cops had to lend Travis this T-shirt for this memorable photo shoot). Read more here.

This seems like the right time to highlight Travis’ superb cover of “Mama Tried.” It appeared on the also superb “Tribute to Tradition” CD where various artists recorded versions of country classics.

Check it out:

C-mon brother Randy, get it together. CW music is tragic enough without you killing your ass or someone else driving under the influence. With that said, There’s some material for your next hit song.

There’s no mention that he needed to borrow more than a t-shirt. Evidently Mr. Randy Travis was butt naked, lying in the road. Way to keep it classy.

When the authorities find you naked on the ground beside your wrecked ‘98 Trans Am drunk…. it’s time to get some help. You’ve officially hit rock bottom.

Sorry, but doesn’t even begin to come up to the standards of Nick Nolte.

Jenn,
Seeing this I’m reminded by an ole English proverb, “Those who are vulnerable should not attack others”. I mean look at your picture

I don’t know what’s funnier – these kind of shennanigan’s or the comments left by others. Randy’s lucky to have limped away from this one as those Texas State Troopers out there in Grayson County, TX don’t play.

Yep, thius mugshot is definitely up there DUE TO THE CIRCUMSTANCES surrounding it, but as for pure asthetic value: NICK NOLTE is and forever will be the king of Mug Shots, no competition, not even close!

It takes me a lot more than alcohol to go in a store butt ass nude. That’s old school party supply if you ask me. At least it was when I did it. I had a “81″ turbo Trans Am though. Hats off to you Mr. Travis!

Nice….Make fun of the mentally ill. Reading the story, it\’s obvious he is suffering from bipolar disorder, but somehow for the blogger, it\’s OK to make fun of him. So sad, and repugnant for you to do this.

Would you make fun of someone with MS?

How is it you have a job when you resort to insensitive rhetoric to gain a few more hits to your page?

Your conduct is abhorrent and not that of a true professional.

For anyone who has lived with or known of someone with a mental illness, you know this is far from funny. Would you make fun of someone with MS?

I’m so glad I’m not in the spot light. People are human, we all make mistakes. Just because he is a star we have to exploit him. Who is to say what this man is dealing with. I hope and pray that he finds a solution to the problems so the drinking will stop.

[...] Randy Travis was arrested in Texas after his 1998 Pontiac Grand Am (real men drive classic American muscle cars) slammed into some roadside construction barriers.  Travis was found laying in the middle of the roadway, drunk as a skunk, and totally bare-ass pecker-in-the-wind road-rash naked.  He threatened to kill the troopers who arrested him, but someone still loaned him a t-shirt for the mug shot classic above.  We can only assume that when he sobered up enough to speak, his first words to the police must have been, “Officers, this isn’t what it looks like.” [...]

Its easy to bash others with all the media steering you in that direction, but I think the true tragedy is our lack of compassion for a man obviously in pain and going through some heartfelt struggles. Life will do that to you if you live long enough. People are human, we love, we hurt and we make bad decisions sometimes, but I think his past record speaks for itself. Randy Travis is a good man that made a bad decision…he’s human too.
