Owen Wilson/Vince Vaughn movie to close part of 25th Street on Tuesday

“The Internship,” starring Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn, will be filming in town tomorrow, and part of 25th Street will be closed. Here are details courtesy of a notice sent out to people in the affected area. Thanks to Tony Wilbert for the heads up!

“20th Century Fox will be filming scenes for the motion picture currently titled ‘The Internship’ at the Studios at 25th (located at 47 25th St., Atlanta). Our tentative filming date is Tuesday July 17 between the hours of 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

“You will notice our prep crews beginning work as early as July 11, as we will be preparing one of our units for filming. While filming on July 17, we will temporarily close 25th Street between Peachtree Street and Alden Avenue. Officers from the Atlanta Police Department will maintain this road closure. Additionally, once we reopen the road after our filming in the street, we may perform intermittent traffic control within this area. The police will not hold traffic for more than 2-3 minutes …

Katie Couric to visit Atlanta tomorrow

Katie Couric will be in Atlanta on Tuesday to promote her new daytime talk show, launching this fall.

The longtime broadcast journalist doesn’t have public appearances planned but she’ll be visiting Channel 2, where some lucky viewer will get the chance to meet her. (The station wrapped up a contest for the Couric meet and greet last week).

The new show, “Katie,” kicks off at 3 p.m. Sept. 10 on Channel 2. Her website and Twitter feed have already begun promoting the program.

It looks like one of the first episodes will tackle hair care crises.

“Hate Your Hair? Wish it was curlier, straighter, lighter?” the show’s website asks. “Worried about greys, thinning? Addicted to appliances? Share your hair nightmare! Send us a photo or video and we may contact you for a hair rescue.”

The site also invites viewers to share their stories of enduring a “sexless marriage” and to send in video clips of things they’ve always dreamed of doing. And they’d also like to hear from you …

Casting call seeks guys and dogs

Dogs are actors, too. Just ask Uggie.

Dogs are actors, too. Just ask Uggie.

“The Internship,” starring Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn, needs a guy with a dog.

The two and four-legged duo will work on a scene tomorrow. The dog should be medium sized, well-mannered and up to date on shots. No specs on the guy. We’re assuming he should be well-mannered, too.

Send photos of yourself and your pooch to InternsAtl@gmail.com with “Male With Dog” in the subject line. Be sure to include your age, height, weight and contact information.

Here’s some information about the movie.

Owen Wilson/Vince Vaughn sightings

Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn are in Atlanta filming “The Internship.” The comedy is about two guys who start over at the bottom of the corporate ladder when they’re downsized.

Here’s information on where the movie will film this week, and what street closings you can expect as a result.

Wilson was at the restaurant No. 246 in Decatur Sunday night with some friends, according to numerous tipsters. No. 246 has other Hollywood cred, by the way. Earlier this year the movie “A.C.O.D.” (Adult Children of Divorce) filmed some scenes there. Details about that project here.

Wilson’s also stopped by Ecco, and Lure and Antico – where he dashed off an impromptu restaurant review on a pizza peel. See it here. Vaughn’s been spotted at the Buckhead Whole Foods.

“The Internship” filmed in Kirkwood and Midtown last week. Here’s a photo Nick Tapp sent us from the Midtown set. (His girlfriend, Kasey Brinson, took the picture). That’s Vaughn on the right.

We’ll post …

New Watershed location becomes quick celeb magnet

Joe and JaneSince moving from Decatur to Buckhead, the restaurant Watershed has quickly become the go-to spot for visiting celebrities.

Reese Witherspoon and Colin Firth, in town filming “Devil’s Knot,” both have been spotted there. So have Rex Linn from “CSI: Miami” and “True Blood’s” Stephen Moyer, who also are working on “Devil’s Knot.” (By the way, after shooting at the old courthouse in Cartersville, that project moved to the Landmark Diner on Cheshire Bridge Road this week. Here’s a photo of Witherspoon on the set.)

Last night, actress and activist Jane Fonda stopped by Watershed. The one-time Atlantan is here checking in with her favorite ex-husband Ted Turner. They’re collaborating on a charitable project. Details here.

Here’s a photo of Fonda with Chef Joe Truex.

Clint Eastwood at East Lake Golf Club

Clint Eastwood, center, visited with Charlie and Sylvia Harrison at Meadow Nook, their East Lake area home.

Clint Eastwood plays a baseball scout in “Trouble With the Curve,” which filmed in Atlanta earlier this year.

But among his many film roles is the memorable title character in “The Outlaw Josey Wales,” a Missouri farmer who hooks up with a band of Confederate soldiers after the war in pursuit of Union soldiers who killed his family.

So it was fitting, then, that Eastwood stopped by the East Lake Golf Club, site of the upcoming Battle of Atlanta Gala, while he was in town. He also visited Meadow Nook, the antebellum home of Sylvia and Charlie Harrison, who are among the organizers of the unique annual community event.

The event’s honorary chairs are Teya Ryan, president and executive director of Georgia Public Broadcasting; Dr. Stan Deaton, host of GPB’s “Today in Georgia History” and senior historian at the Georgia Historical Society; and W. Todd Groce, CEO of the …

Marietta declares “Condace Pressley Day”

577402_3847969671393_1398900061_nWith all the excitement surrounding Wednesday evening’s elegant gala in honor of the retiring Channel 2 anchor Monica Pearson I managed to overlook honors for another local journalist: 750 AM/95.5 FM News/Talk WSB assistant program director Condace Pressley.

Shoot!

Compounding the tragedy, this happened right in my back yard (*hangs head in shame*). Marietta Mayor Steve “Thunder” Tumlin (a member of my church!) honored Pressley yesterday and proclaimed July 11 Condace Pressley Day in the city because of the contributions she has made to Marietta and Georgia.

I learned about it by reading a notice posted online by the mayor’s assistant Betsy Kelly (a member of my Sunday School class! *hangs head in shame again*).

The Atlanta Association of Black Journalists (AABJ) will present Pressley the Pioneer Award July 29 at the 30th annual Pioneer Black Journalist Awards. The award is the highest honor given by the AABJ.

Pressley is a 1982 alumna of Marietta High School and graduated …

Photo: Owen Wilson stops by Antico

AxmajNDCMAA-NBTOwen Wilson’s in Atlanta filming “The Internship” with Vince Vaughn and stopped by Antico Pizza on Wednesday.

He dashed off a restaurant review afterward.

Wilson’s no stranger to Atlanta, having spent time here to film the Farrelly Brothers movie “Hall Pass” a couple of years ago. He became a fan of the St. Regis wine bar during that trip.

So far this time he’s popped up at Ecco and Yeah Burger as well as Antico. Where oh where will he dine next??? When we know, you’ll know.

Oprah, Robin Roberts join event saluting Monica Pearson

monica 071212A crowd of prominent Atlantans flocked to the Fox Theatre Wednesday night to salute veteran news anchor Monica Pearson as she prepares to sign off for good.

Nancy O’Dell from “Entertainment Tonight” also appeared by video clip.

“We want to join your friends in Atlanta in wishing you the very best,” she said.

Here is a gallery of photos from the event.

The black-tie event was emceed by “Good Morning America” co-host Robin Roberts, whose participation also was a surprise.

“You are an amazing woman, Monica,” she said. “I love how much you’re enjoying yourself tonight.”

Photo: Hank Aaron visits “42″ movie set

582065_3776711688933_170817743_nHammerin’ Hank Aaron visited the set of “42,” the movie about Jackie Robinson, the other day.

Here’s a photo of the legendary Atlanta Braves great visiting with Chadwick Boseman, who portrays Robinson in Brian Helgeland’s film.

And here’s a gallery of photos of Aaron, who became baseball’s all-time homerun king in 1974.

“42″ is set during Robinson’s 1947 rookie season with the Brooklyn Dodgers, during which he broke Major League Baseball’s color line.

The movie wraps this week after some shooting in Atlanta including a scene at the Biltmore in Midtown. The hotel will portray the 1940s era Waldorf Astoria. Aaron visited during interior filming at Atlanta Film Studios Paulding County.

The movie, which also stars Harrison Ford as MLB executive Branch Rickey, filmed in Macon, Birmingham and Chattanooga before heading to Atlanta. Ford’s done with his part of the movie but was spotted at a number of Atlanta restaurants while in town. Details here.
