Report: Elton John expecting second child

4045749484Part-time Atlantan Elton John and David Furnish have another baby on the way, The Daily reports.

As with son Zachary this child also will be born via a surrogate. It is the same surrogate, booked through the Center for Surrogate Parenting in Encino, Calif., who delivered Zachary, the report says.

Here’s a photo of John and Furnish with Zachary during a trip to Atlanta last fall, when they stopped by the Georgia Aquarium. Maybe they will take the new baby to see the dolphins, too!

Owen Wilson-Vince Vaughn movie seeks half-nekkid extras

This could be Porky's big break. He runs around half-nekkid all the time.

This could be Porky's big break. He runs around half-nekkid all the time.

The Owen Wilson-Vince Vaughn movie “The Internship” will be filming a “gentleman’s club” scene this week and needs some extras to fill out the scene.

As you may expect the extras for this scene won’t be wearing much.

The casting notice specifically requests “Asian males (25-50) available for four night shoots this Tuesday through this Friday.”

If selected they require you to be available all four nights, and note that there is “partial nudity involved as this is a Gentlemen’s Club scene.”

“The Internship” is about two guys who are downsized due to the economy and decide to start their careers over at the bottom. Evidently they visit a strip club somewhere along the way.

If you’re interested in this casting call please email InternsATL@gmail.com.

A tribute to Monica Pearson from WSB colleague

599340_3811037027045_1070297482_nAs Monica Pearson prepares to sign off for good next week after 37 years at Channel 2, her colleagues will miss her along with viewers.

Gary Alexander, Director of Engineering at WSB-TV, sent us this nice tribute. They’re shown in the photo at the right.

Director of Engineering
WSB-TV

“In 1992, I was just starting my career with WSB. The Braves were playing at Pittsburgh in the playoffs, and a last-minute decision was made to send all the anchors and do the pre-game show from outside Three Rivers Stadium. I was tasked to get a locally rented production truck running and send the show via satellite. However, we were flying to Pittsburgh the morning of the show, which did not allow much time for preparation or adjustments for any technical issues. The time pressure was immense, especially for a new engineer on the job.

Naturally, the flight was delayed. Upon landing, two of the three anchors left the airport quickly, except Monica. With a bit of surprise, …

A number of broadcast and cable channels were pulling ads for “Dark Knight Rises” following the deadly shooting spree at a midnight screening of the show, the LA Times reports.

The massacre left 12 dead and 59 injured. Latest updates here.

The movie had been predicted as a summer blockbuster. On Thursday, the media analysis firm SNL Kagan released a report compiling predictions about “Dark Knight’s” box office potential. “‘Dark Knight Rises’ could top the $1 billion mark, according to BoxOffice.com,” the report noted. That …

A hands-on interview with “Dirty Dancing” star Jennifer Grey

A portrait of Jennifer Grey

A portrait of Jennifer Grey

“Hold it!” Jennifer Grey said two seconds after we met. “Your strap’s hanging out.”

You know those little clear, plastic straps inside dresses to help them hang properly on the hanger? They can be tough to keep in place.

“Here, stick them under your bra straps,” Grey said, reaching over to rearrange. “I never want to see that happen to you again.”

Having made it to second base with the “Dirty Dancing” star five seconds into our first date, we got down to business.

“The movie was made with so much heart,” said Grey, also a past “Dancing With the Stars” winner who’s worked on numerous film and television projects over the years. “It’s about a young girl discovering herself.”

Then it was time to go. Grey was in town on a tour sponsored by Skinny Cow, which makes low-fat, low-calorie candy and ice cream and which hosted a sold-out screening of “Dirty Dancing” Thursday night at the AMC Parkway Point 15. Having spent the morning visiting radio talk shows, …

Also starring Robert Duvall, Kevin Bacon, John Hurt, Ray Stevenson, Frances O’Connor and John Patrick, the movie is set in the Vietnam War-era South, where intercontinental family strife parallels the conflict abroad. The film debuted earlier this year at the Berlin International Film Festival and should be released in the U.S. next year.

It filmed largely outside of metro Atlanta, in LaGrange and Cedartown, but key scenes were filmed in Decatur. See if you can spot Oakhurst Church in this trailer:

Lindsay Lohan headed to Atlanta for “Scary Movie 5″ role?

Lindsay Lohan reportedly is in talks to star in “Scary Movie 5,” which will be filmed in Atlanta.

Numerous industry reports say the oft-troubled star is working on inking a deal to star in the fifth flick in the horror spoof series. Outlets including The Toronto Sun and The Wrap report she has been “in talks” to sign on while Perez Hilton reports the movie’s folks are still hashing out a role for her.

So, it’s not quite a done deal yet. Of course, how done does a deal get with someone who visits the courthouse as frequently as Lohan does? By the way here’s a gallery of photos showing her frocked out in various ensembles to wear into the halls of justice.

We’re told by a source with direct knowledge of “Scary Movie 5″ that things are in the early stages right now, so it’s unclear when this project could get rolling.

In June, Lohan was found unresponsive in her hotel room while working on the Elizabeth Taylor biopic “Liz and Dick.” Her representatives later blamed the …

Monica Pearson as guest DJ at Dave FM

Monica and Mara

Monica and Mara

Monica Pearson took to the airwaves in a new way today.

She joined 92.9 Dave FM’s Mara Davis during Davis’ “Radio Free Lunch” during the noon hour. She actually got there a little bit after RFL started, because an earlier speaking engagement ran long.

She called in as Davis began the program to apologize for running late. She stressed she was obeying the speed limit and speaking on a hands-free phone.

Davis jokingly asked if Pearson’s husband John Pearson, retired from DeKalb County law enforcement, could get her out of a traffic ticket. Answer: heck no!

“We have one rule: we follow all the rules,” Pearson noted.

Davis often has guest DJs in to spin a few tunes. Pearson’s guest stint was extra special, as she will be retiring next week after 37 years at Channel 2.

“TV is not going to be the same without Monica Pearson,” Davis said.

Since announcing her retirement earlier this year Pearson has enjoyed accolades from all corners of the city and beyond. Here’s a

Katie Couric usually asks the questions. During a Tuesday visit to Atlanta to promote her new talk show, she answered them.

Following a luncheon at Channel 2, which will air “Katie” at 3 p.m. weekdays starting Sept. 10, Couric faced queries from invited guests – and an animated line of questioning from fellow broadcast journalist Monica Pearson, who wanted to know what advice Couric has received regarding the new show (be yourself), how Couric’s daughters feel about it (supportive and excited) and what’s off limits (sordid love triangles and surprise paternity test results).

And: “Did you call Oprah?”
