In addition to buying lunch today at Chick-fil-A, I purchased $60 in gift cards to give to members of the military when I see them to express appreciation for all they do. Were it not for the recent incoherent rants of the Secular Left, I would not have made these purchases.

But in doing so I can show my support for a fantastic company that serves great products (with the best, most courteous service in the industry), and also support our military heroes.

Truett Cathy is a great man, a superb businessperson, a role model–and most importantly–obedient to the Gospel.

God will continue to bless Chick-fil-A and I’ll continue to support them.

The public outrage is long overdue.
Chick-fil-A has never made a secret of the bigotry and intolerance of its conservative corporate ethos. The company has openly (and sometimes illegally) factored a potential employee’s marital status and civic and church involvement in its hiring process, and gives millions of dollars in contributions to pretty much any organization that works to defeat gay marriage.

It’s very disappointing to see what is happening. CFA is an excellent place for the family and the food is good. Yes, it is fast food, so what. I support CFA 100 %. First off I defend Cathy’s right to express his opinion. However, I wonder if he thought about all the employees and operators who are not millionaires and count on sales for their living.

Guess everyone is against Christians in these days of Violence, Immorality, and other practices
that demoralize our nation. Some at the Olympics have talked about having sex with people
they have never met.
The Cathys have not said they are homophobics or hate homosexuals. Do they not have a right
to their beliefs just because they believe the Bible. They serve everyone who comes in as
equals and do not descriminate. This should make homosexuals (and there are many) who own
businessess. Should others descriminate against them and force them out of business?
I worked in and took care of AIDS patients in a public health facility for 5 years.
I had about 400 patients at one time. I also had people ask me how could I take care of the
Gays. I always told them I also had prostitutes, drug users, and those who caught it innocently
after their husbands/wives indulged in sex outside of marriage. this made me love them all even
more and want to help them. I have a lot of letters from patients saying I did not make them
feel bad-that they all received the same level of care.
I treasure those 5 years.

For those of you calling Chick Fil A fast and fatty food, perhaps you should read their fat content and caloric content if you can put your bias to the side and go into a store. First off their food is healthier for you than a McDonalds or Burger king. Most of their meals are 500 hundred calories or less. You can’t say that about other fast food places. They do have fried items, but they are fried in Peanut Oil which is a better product to fry in, if you need to fry. If Christians had invented marriage, put a patent on it, upheld it perfectly for the past 4,000 years, etc., then I might be willing to give them a political ear on the subject. However, they did not. America is about separating church from state, so I’m not sure why the subject of marriage is even a topic of politics when it comes to gay rights (technically, marriage is a legal contract that generates income for the state by requiring the purchase of a license) or why it’s necessary for Christians to get involved politically when they have every right to not allow gays to get married in their churches. That being said, I eat at CFA so rarely that it doesn’t make a difference where I stand on a political or religious front. I’m sure both sides are enjoying the free publicity.

Let’s take a look at how you are supporting anit-gay bigotry around the globe when you buy some waffle fries (or anything else at Chick-fil-A):
Marriage & Family Legacy Fund: Founded by Exodus North America’s Alan Chambers who has admitted to anti-gay housing discrimination: “As a property owner of Orlando, I wouldn’t rent to someone who is gay…” He has also implied a connection between gay people and pedophiles with no evidence whatsoever: “I believe the gay community is a good group of people but with groups like NAMBLA (a pedophile group) riding on their coattails.”
Exodus International: Exodus International Board Member John Schmierer began his trips to Uganda in 2009, preaching alongside Nazi revisionist Scott Lively, spreading hatred of gay people to the people and leaders of the country. This directly led to their legislation requiring the execution of some gay people.
In Schmierer’s future trips to Uganda, he would whip up anti-gay furor with lies linking homosexuality to child abuse, calling for mandatory “conversion therapy” for homosexuals and any other number of falsehoods he could come up with.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes: The FCA is decidedly anti-gay and discriminates against gay people from participating. Their website even goes on about “saving” people from being gay. Danny Burns, the National College Conference of the FCA spoke of people being “freed from homosexuality” at the 2011 annual conference.
Focus on the Family: Founded by James Dobson, FotF has been at the front of most anti-gay movements the US has seen since it’s founding. They have supported and funded “Ex-Gay” organizations for years and one of their co-founders (George Alan Rekers) was actually found bringing a gay sex worker on vacation with him.
These same organizations have been one of the primary causes of suicide among young gay people forced to go through this “therapy.” Dobson believes gay people will destroy the earth:

Since when did it become wrong to voice your opinion? I’m so sick of GAYS getting offended when someone says they don’t support their definition of marriage! It’s okay to call liars out as sin, it’s okay to call murderers out as sin, but its not okay to call gayness out. BTW, the biblical definition of marriage has always been consistent. In Genesis 2:24 it is revealed for the first time that a man should leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife. In Matthew 19:5 when Jesus had a chance to alter that definition he instead restated Genesis 2:24. The fact that people in the Old Testament didn’t always live up to the definition does not change the definition (It says wife, not wives). People also cloud the argument with confusion over the ceremonial law, or what was important to remain clean for temple worship, and the moral law. The ceremonial law was fulfilled with the coming of Christ, for instance pork and shellfish is no longer unclean. It is not necessarily healthy, but it’s ok to eat. The moral law was restated in the New Testament and is therefore still in effect today. i.e.: Don’t steal, don’t kill, no adultery, one man + one woman = biblical marriage.

Gonna get the chicken biscuit in the AM though. That’ll be about 20 bucks this week so far and the week is not over. A large corporation such as theirs should remain neutral on matters as this. Obviously the loss of revenues or gains won’t mean anything to this company. Last night at Prayer Meeting, our preacher read some of the article concerning CFA and same sex marriage. If you are a Chistian, you know what the Bible states and what God expects of us as his children.
I do ask the Gays that they do not flaunt thier lifestyle upon impressionable young people. It seems that some believe it is the cool thing to now be Gay.
As a former college basketball player and later coach, I saw many a lesbian flip flop from Gay to Striahgt over the years. If it is not a choice qand oone is born that way, how can this flip fliopping be explained.
Keep in mind that we are not the jusdges here on Earth. Our time here is only a blink of the eye. God will be the one who decides how we play our sins.

I wonder if Whoopi would feel the same if CFA were saying, “We support the biblical view of slavery…. blacks are welcome here at CFA, we just don’t think they should be able to marry (and people should be able to own them as slaves).” would she still be so cavalier about CFA statements. Maybe the 2% should check out that book on the counter in every Chickfila… Its called the Bible. Its there for you. Its there for anyone. Its also there for you to pass by, if you so choose. The constitution gives everyone that right. There is alot of positive constructive information in this book. But if you don’t want to read it, PLEASE DON’T. Reading it is just a thought. I’m not forcing it on you.

In closing, I must say, for whatever reason, Chickfila certainly has “customer service” figured out. Publix is another one. You’ll never get service like this in a McDonalds. And I’ve never had a better chocolate shake than Chcikfila.

My younger son tried the grilled chicken nuggets with Polynesian sauce, and found out that it was really good. I often get one of their salads. Junk food? Not necessarily.

I defy Mia Farrow to say what Chick-Fil-A has DONE (not said) against gay people. “Proactively engaging against the interests of LGBT people?” No way. And Ed Helms apparently can’t distinguish between disliking people and suggesting another course of action (e.g., heterosexuality) to them.

I didn’t know about August 1st until I read this column. Thanks, Jennifer, for bringing it to my attention. I’ll be sure to get the family to “eat mor chikin!”

What I am most tired of is the blatant hypocrisy of the left. Anyone with conservative views is not allowed to share an opinion different from their own without an insane personal attack. So the CEO of a company has a view that you don’t share. So what. I daresay most of the companies I do business with have employees and executives with opinions different from my own. While I really don’t have a strong opinion either way on whether gays are allowed to marry (actually, let them share the marriage tax penalty), I have a strong opinion on the right to free expression. I’m glad to see Whoopie Goldberg actually defended the right for Mr. Cathy to express his opinion.

As all of this flap has been going on I have thought long and hard about what “Jesus would do” and I just don’t see Jesus being a bigot or hating anyone. Everyone on both sides of this is so determined that they and only they are right that the seem to have forgotten that God really gave all of us just two tenants; love him and love each other and I see no love at all here.

The Cathys have the right to whatever they believe and bear the personal responbility for thir choices and beliefs and those who disagree bear the same and should no support CFA in any way any longer. I would venture to say that instead of all of this time and effort on a place that sells food that will help kill you and make you sick in a hurry (ask any doctor) maybe it would be better to focus on sometings in your communites that could actually help someone. There are hungry children right here in Atlanta, lonely and isolated seniors, abused and neglected children and the list goes on and on. So I would suggest to stop this vollying of hate back and forth and do something that is actually pleasing to God and benefits your fellow man.

Who didn’t assume this was the case? They are closed on Sunday, have biblical-themed kids meals, and host a myriad of bible studies and other church-related activities. So the topic came up at a christian event, and they stated their faith-based opinion. BIG DEAL. It’s one thing to be against something, but yet another to discriminate based upon your opinion – and I don’t see Chic-fil-a turning away anyone. Our country is full of whiners that just can’t accept people having different opinions. If your opinion isn’t in line with the PC/popular view of the day, you’re crucified. By the way, I think christianity is kinda silly too…denomination of religion is quite comical. You do realize that the bible was written by various authors of the day during King James’ reign, and that most of those passages were written to reflect King James’ view. In reality, you’re not christians – you’re King Jamesians. Kind of funny when you think about it like that. Most religions of the world have the same basic principles, but use different stories to relate their belief sets, yet you silly christians insist on going on mission trips to “save” the heathens. Everyone’s a-o-k with you, until they believe something different. Lord knows we don’t want people having different beliefs.

The bottom line is that you shouldn’t care what Chic-fil-a believes, as long as they make a darn good chicken sandwich and don’t bash/discriminate against people – which they haven’t based on their response to this silliness. I mean really – it’s not like they went out and put David Duke or George Wallace in charge of public relations, or started forcing you to play with a poisonous snake to prove your faith prior to ordering.

Most of our problems come from the attitude of “You’re not like me…. and you should be!” That’s not how God made us. Why is there so much hate speech? Every person who eats at Chick Fil A has always been treated with dignity and respect, in fact their service is far better than any other fast food restaurant. I support Chickfila and their views on this. This company has been very successful and they have been very open about their core beliefs all along. This is America and they have freedom of speech as well. If you don’t like them, you have the freedom to pass their establishment by when you are hungry. I am a Gay, Christian, Republican…just a few thoughts and questions for the “moral majority”:
There are a few activists out there who give our community a bad name. Please don’t judge us all by the actions of a few. Most gays I know are just like Sally Ride, hardworking, smart, successful and living their lives without making an issue of their sexuality. We pay taxes, fly the American flag outside our homes and follow the law just like everyone else.
The national conversation should be focusing on the economy and other relevant topics like why straights can’t seem to get their divorce rate under control and figure out why so many children today are born out of wedlock. Talk about the sanctity of marriage!! You ladies that are married should be worried about why your husband’s spend their lunch hour over at Hooters or the Tilted Kilt or worse, the strip bars. Ever drive by these places at lunch time?? Gays are not the downfall of the American Family! I am afraid you straights need to look in the mirror for that one!
Just a few questions before you “judge” (sin, thank you):
1) How did all the straight people posting on boards these days become such experts on the homosexual?
2) When did you choose to be straight?
3) Why do you assume gays are not Christians?? Really, when is the last time YOU ACTUALLY attended church??? I know when I go!

never said they didn’t have a right to their opinion, I said they don’t have the right to put forth so much money against the community having their rights. And they don’t have the right to not hire gays/lesbians, single mothers, or people who are divorced when they know these things about them. And, not all single mothers are like that, I was a single mother and I’ve had a job since I was 15 years old, and now I am the mother of 5 and been married for 22 years.

The are not trying to discriminate aainst homosexuals. They did not say they would not hire them. Aain, I am sure Chick-Fil-A has had (and will continue to have) many gay employees. They serve homosexuals their food. They employ Jewish people (I have Jewish friends who work for CFA)
They employ single mothers. The list goes on and on. So since they are not discriminating in their workplace, they are not breaking the law.
Law School 101~ If you believe in the first amendment, it gives you the right to express your opinon WITHOUT FEAR OF PERSECUTION. However, I have to be prepared for someone to stand rght next to me screaming the exact opposite of what I believe.

You know that the Sabbath is actually on SATURDAY, right? Always has been. That’s why orthodox Jews (you do know what Jews are right?) don’t work or drive on that day. Unless you are in your home with the lights off from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday with no working, cooking, turning on lights, etc. you are not observing the Sabbath.

So basically, keep any opinion you want, that’s your right. But if you going to use the Bible as the basis for making these claims, at least get your facts right.

This is a debate that shouldn’t be. Chik-Fil-A didn’t need to weigh in and neither did the rest of the dominoes in this ordeal. I don’t care about the political views of companies or so-called “celebrities”. I as a simple customer shouldn’t have to feel like I’m taking sides or making a “statement” when I go and order a #3 with sweet tea. Give me one good reason why I should care about Chik-Fil-A’s stance or the Muppets (really?). And I am sick of “celebrities” dishing out their point of view as if the entire non-celebrity world is just waiting for their perspective so we know how to feel.

Biblical definitions aside….this is a financial and political issue. The only reason married couples are given a break on their taxes is because they have or could have children which need additional care and support, while not adding anything to the household financially due their dependence and mandatory schooling.
How does this tax break apply to two hard heads that want to profess their lifelong love for each other. They can do that without the conventional marriage certificate. A new marriage certificate needs to be created just for gay marriage.
There is no good reason for a stay-at-home gay spouse to receive the benefits of their working spouse. This was, is and always should be exclusively reserved for opposite sex marriages that potentially or actually have children to raise. That’s why these benefits were created. It’s the only reason for gays to be fighting for recognition of marriage. Let’s be honest…it’s financial!!!!! Not religious. Unless you cherry picks the parts of the bible you like and the one’s you don’t, it is considered an abomination to God……CASE CLOSED.
It is what it is. I just don’t want to have my tax dollars going to subsidize this sinful, immoral behavior….I’m not from California and they don’t run the country. This is still considered a democracy and I have yet to speak to anyone that supports it.

The Chick-Fil-A president said they will treat all people (including LGBT’s) with respect. There’s much to love about Chick-Fil-A:

They are the cleanest, friendliest and most efficient fast food chain in the world, bar none, for a reason — because they care, starting at the top.

They have a code they live by, and it’s a good one — stressing charity, family and religious principals. I’ve never had a bad experience at a Chick-Fil-A.

I can’t say that about McDonald’s or Wendy’s, where I’ve often encountered greasy messes on the floors, tables and bathrooms, and indifferent, unfriendly, unkempt employees.

The chicken sandwiches can’t be beat – and have you tried that hand-dipped peach milkshake? Heaven in a cup!

Darren, Thanks for the Facts check-I knew that Sabbath Started on Saturday and goes into Sunday, so we’re splitting hairs on when it starts/stops. The point is that they do not want their Catholic/Christian neighbors/employees working on Sunday when it should be a day of rest…

Bottom line is I agree and am not using the bible as a reference for this man’s beliefs and his Co’s stand on NOT honoring homosexuality as a union PERIOD!

Another prime example of the intolerance of the “tolerant” left. Mr. Cathy has every right to his beliefs which the majority of Americans share and if you don’t like his beliefs then you have the right to take your business elsewhere. Mr. Cathy bans no one from his restaurants regardless of their color, gender preference or otherwise. We on the right are accused by the left for being intolerant, bigoted, racists and other stuff and they try to silence us but in reality you see who the real intolerant and bigoted people are. I plan to increase visits to my local Chic-Fil-A to show them support. The manager at the CFA I visit said that his business had actually increased quite a bit since this started and as a result is hiring more folks. Thanks Leftist for helping Mr. Cathy create more jobs.
