Marietta declares “Condace Pressley Day”

577402_3847969671393_1398900061_nWith all the excitement surrounding Wednesday evening’s elegant gala in honor of the retiring Channel 2 anchor Monica Pearson I managed to overlook honors for another local journalist: 750 AM/95.5 FM News/Talk WSB assistant program director Condace Pressley.

Shoot!

Compounding the tragedy, this happened right in my back yard (*hangs head in shame*). Marietta Mayor Steve “Thunder” Tumlin (a member of my church!) honored Pressley yesterday and proclaimed July 11 Condace Pressley Day in the city because of the contributions she has made to Marietta and Georgia.

I learned about it by reading a notice posted online by the mayor’s assistant Betsy Kelly (a member of my Sunday School class! *hangs head in shame again*).

The Atlanta Association of Black Journalists (AABJ) will present Pressley the Pioneer Award July 29 at the 30th annual Pioneer Black Journalist Awards. The award is the highest honor given by the AABJ.

Pressley is a 1982 alumna of Marietta High School and graduated magna cum laude from University of Georgia’s Henry W. Grady School of Journalism and Mass Communication in 1986.

My apologies for not trumpeting this news sooner!

Lucky for you, JB we’re all about forgiveness at FUMC! Congrats, Condace!

Nevertheless I am putting myself on e-care prayer as a precaution.

So sad that all you guys can see is race. Had it dawned upon you that you could google her. You may find some facts that are pretty admirable. Stop being mad that others are extraordinary versus you.. Bland, uneventful, regular and selfish.

I live in Marietta and have no clue who C. Pressley is. Or what she has done.

This brief recognition does Condace Pressley no justice. It simply states she was recognized and her position, but doesn’t entail her contributions or work history. It probably was best that Jennifer Brett looked over the honors and hang her head in shame for poor content.
