Video: President Obama at the Varsity!
Amanda Ozment came to Atlanta to visit her friend Bradley Loomis, and ended up running into President Barack Obama.
“As we’re finishing eating this gentleman comes by and says, ‘if you’d like to move to our lower seating area the president’s coming by.’ I’m like the president of the United States or the president of the Varsity?”
Turns out, President Barack Obama was on the way, and Ozment’s independent filmmaking career was launched.
Here’s the video she took with her phone:
The video quickly made her a Twitter sensation, and a number of media outlets asked if they could use the clip. She graciously tweeted approval for anyone who wanted to use it.
“I was like, I want to remember this so I pulled out my phone. I was thinking my friends would think this was interesting,” she said. “Before I knew it I’ve got 100 mentions. I was like, oh I guess this is newsworthy!”
After her chance encounter with the president, Ozment headed downtown and ran into “Extra” personality Mario Lopez jogging in Centennial Olympic Park. Then came … you guessed it, the presidential motorcade, ferrying Obama to his fundraising visit to the Westin Peachtree Plaza.
“I’m a good luck charm,” Ozment laughed.
A 27-year-old nanny, she describes herself as politically interested but not a huge partisan. But hey, who wouldn’t think it was cool to stumble into a presidential photo opp?
“It’s been kind of a wild and crazy weekend!” she said.

It wasn’t bad investments in my losing my 401K….it was being forced to CASH them in to survive!! Granted, Obama hasn’t done everything that he could…but the alternative wasn’t suitable!! I blame Bush for the economic environment that he set….two wars that were unpaid…the crony capitalism….9/11 and the economic environment afterwards…..THAT’S where I place blame!! I lost 35% of my economic capability salary-wise and 100% savings and investment-wise from 2001-2009. Now, I’m rebuilding my financial capability where I couldn’t before!! When you ask: “Are you better off than you were four years ago?” — my answer would be a resounding YES!!
Here’s hoping you find something comparable in your profession soon!!

@ Lady-D – it was a hypothetical saying that people are measured on results. You can like the guy or whatever, but show the results of where we are moving this country to a better tomorrow. End of the day that is what he will be accountable for and will be exposed come re-election. People aren’t going to support a leader if they are out of work, losing their pensions, lack of growth, massive spending leading to hyper-inflation, and uncertainty. I don’t mind him as a person, but he is out of touch and its really hard to feel confident in his plan forward given the results of this terms. Just look at the numbers … it speaks for itself

I don’t care if he’s a black man. What I care about is that he had a grand total of 153 days experience in government – STATE government and he chose to run for the highest office of this country. Those who voted for him fell for his lies and inexperience hook, line and sinker. Now, at every turn not only is Bush still being blamed, but the race card is being played and it’s getting old. Those who scream the loudest about not being a racist usually are one. Those constantly accusing others about being a racist, usually are one.

@Robert- You mention all of the White Groups but what about the “Black Panthers”? I do not see any white people in that group and in fact, I do believe they hate white people. Obama is black? Obama himself said he was a mutt. He is mixed which means he is bi-racial but you and others on here want to think that he is full-blooded black american. WRONG!!!!
Let’s see here. If a white person disagree’s with a black person, the white person is a racist! If a group of blacks jump on a white person, it is not a hate crime even though they spew racial comments, names, etc… If a white group jumps on a black man, OH LORD, it is a hate crime for sure, regardless if no racial comments were made.
Now lets look at the education system in GA. Who was accused of changing the answers on the CRCT test? Sorry, I did not hear you so I will let you know, it was the black teachers and their leaders, also black, Which color of the student’s test’s answers were changed? The black students answers were changed.
So you see here, blacks blame the white people for everything and then claim that the white people are the most racist people in America. Black on black crime, let me take a guess, it is the white man’s fault. You don’t have a job because you have no education or you are just to lazy to go out and find one, white man’s fault. I can go on and on and on with this but wait, because I point out some actual facts, I have now become a racist, right?
Do you really know what color I am? I could be an educated white person or an educated black person, maybe an educated mixed black/white person or educated Hispanic person, I could go on and on with this one too, that is sick and tired of the black race pointing fingers at the white people all the time when they should stand up and take responsibility for once. Some of you are funny, the biggest issue here doesn’t even pertain to politics (for the most part), it pertains to simple will power, perhaps all of us should preach ethical behavior among ourselves (stop having kids out of wedlock, stop sponsoring fast food, stop being greedy, stop being so damn self centered, raise your kids to be respectful people, stop sponsoring garbage rap/pop music, stop honoring commericial churches, stop being a hypocrite, and the list goes on and on…. ) then maybe we would have a civilized society where jobs would be available. Forget who (or what) is in charge, we need to take control of our own lives…. and p.s. If you have a Family and you are the Man of the house, then you do what you have to do in order to support your Family. First of all, kids that are born, they did not ask to be brought into this world but that decision was made by a man and a women, regardless of the way the child was conceived.

No other president, while I have been on this earth, except maybe President Truman, has faced so many difficult challenges. You have done so facing the technological 24 hour news and propaganda cycle and challenges of social media. It’s gonna be a landslide win for Obama over anybody the republicans run. And in Georgia when did the Republican party become the party fo the uneducated redneck with a few rich white guys sprinkled in. The educated, the progressive, the minority and the female vote gives Obama a landslide November victory. No way the females in this country will step back 40 years with the republicans. What’s amazing is all the talk about the increased spending when in fact the two heaviest spending administrations were both….Republican: Reagan and Dubwa. But Reagan was great, almost as good as Clinton but not quite, and Bush 1 was pretty good himself. But dubwa left a complete pile of SH!@#$$%t for all of us to clean up. All these poor white trash folks in this state with marginal education levels (but I must say are easy to make money off of which is why I have a business here) keep voting republican which has none of their interst in mind. I’ve never been anyplace like this state where all these white trash rednecks keep holding out that they two are going to live on West Paces like the rest of us – aint happening. But back to your point, he looses the lower educated states like Georgia, Miss, SC, TX (check the states Klan man, the states at teh bottom are all Repulican and the ones at the top are all Democrat), but thank god he wins Cali, NY, PA, OH. @ TechFan – Obama’s approval level in the world had been dropping since last year by 22%. Europe doesn’t approve of the way he talks about diplomacy then consistent air strikes and being much less multilateral on international issues. So to say he is restoring US respect in the world is completely misguided. Also to say no other President had faced such difficult challenges, ummm Lincoln with the divide of the country or Roosevelt with WWII. Guess those Presidents didn’t have it tougher than Obama eating his chili dog at the Varsity and taking vacations at Martha’s Vineyard. To say he’s a great President is a joke while unemployment is so high, people are set to lose their 401K retirements, and there is no concrete healthcare plan. I disagree with the comment that the Varsity food is only acceptable to young people. When I was young, those dogs only barked at night, about 2-3 AM. Now they don’t bark at all which is a little disconcerting. But…my joints don’t ache since they were lubed by the grease! I agree with one poster…whether AF 1 bathrooms can handle the “onslaught”?
Southern conservatives have no remembrance of history, except the Civil War aka The War of the Northern Aggression. So why do we even try to communicate with them. They are always right.
