"See ya tomorrow, Atlanta!" AP photo
President Barack Obama, headed to Atlanta for a fundraising visit at the Westin Peachtree Plaza on Tuesday, will work in a stop at the set of “42,” filming this week in Midtown and in Inman Park, according to a well-placed source with direct knowledge of the situation.
The movie is about Jackie Robinson, who broke Major League Baseball’s color line when playing for the Dodgers. It has been filming in Macon, Chattanooga and Birmingham. Things are wrapping up this week in Midtown. Good timing for the president, whose people let it be known he’d like to stop by.
The movie folks were happy to oblige, and we hear from someone in a position to know that the visit is a go.
This will do traffic no favors, of course. Detours and lane closures are often part of the package when a movie films on city streets. Add in presidential security and … you get the idea.
According to fliers that went up over the weekend, filming is taking place in Midtown, on Cypress, West Peachtree and Peachtree streets this week. We drove by that area earlier and the only evidence of movie making we saw was a bunch of equipment on the sidewalk outside a location around the area of 6th and Cypress streets. It looked like things were just getting set up.
The moving is also doing some filming in Inman Park, on Edgewood Avenue between Elizabeth and Hurt streets.
We’ll post updates as they are available.

Lol. These comments are ridiculous
—————————————————–
Yep.
I have removed a few including one that made disparaging comments not only about the president but gross remarks about his wife and kids. As a fan of the First Amendment I take a pretty light hand at axing comments but we’re not going to have people posting crude comments about children on this blog.

I didn’t cover a Bush-Cheney visit but I did cover a visit by President and Mrs. George W. Bush, and did monitor the blog then just as I am doing now. Here is the link.

All of you Obama haters. Distorting facts, forgetting recent history. I never understood republicans. They usually came to be christians but they have no interest in helping the poor or less fortunate, They only care about their own self interest. That was clearly not what Jesus did when he was on earth but I Digress because no matter how much solid evidence is given to show that the sky isnt falling, you people will continue to hate on Obama. If you can say with a straight face that you were better off under Bush and republicans, you are a flat out LIAR

Ryder, you are an idiot. I did not and never will vote for Obama and it has NOTHING to do with race. I voted for Monds for governor and contributed to Herman Cain’s campaign. I also voted in the primaries for Ron Paul. I don’t care what the candidate’s race is, I just vote intelligently based on the FACTS.

Most libs that vote for Obama are ignorant of how the economy, business, the system, etc… truly works. Most don’t know the difference between a profit and profit margin. Don’t believe me? Whenever they spout out that corporations and wealthy people need to pay more taxes, that is proof positive.
It’s called a trickle down effect folks. The US has the highest corp taxes in the world. Gee you wonder why they move to other countries and take the jobs with them… Thank President Obama for that.
Tax the rich!! Well, I’ve never worked for a poor guy, and neither have any of you libs either. Tax the man that pays your salary more and you may just find out you don’t have a paycheck anymore, because he/she can’t afford to pay you because of those higher taxes you wished so badly on them.
Oh… don’t like the fact that you have to pay a higher price for some of those goods and services you buy/use? Well, maybe if the corporations that you wished higher taxes on didn’t have to make up the difference by charges higher prices, you’d get those lower prices.
You GIMME GIMME libs don’t see the BIG PICTURE. All you focus on is you and that’s the problem.
That's right

Great point “plain and simple”. Its a proven fact that if you lower taxes, the government’s revenues rise. Obama, in his infinite wisdom of growing the govt so freaking large, doesn’t realize that and by now, the govt is so big that that plan probably wouldn’t work.
We need a Pres that MASSIVELY shrinks the size of Government and then lowers taxes to stimulate buying and job creation.

Are there honestly still Birthers in this country? I can get how you might not like Obama, but to truly believe that he faked his birth certificate and got it past the CIA, Secret Service, FBI, DOJ, and both houses of Congress smacks of your ignorance of the entire election process.

I’m not a big fan of Obama (by any means)
But I’m even less of a fan of Romney’s.
But if you REALLY want to get to the root of ALL of our problems- it’s corporate influence in politics and government.
All politicians are controlled by wealthy business interests. None of them care about the people. Just the extremely wealthy people.
I dare you to name a single politician, dem or rep, that is NOT controlled by corporate lobbying…

It has not worked in 12 years. how long will it take for that money to ‘trickle down’ to the rest of us?

Food for thought-
If you were a business owner, would you prefer to have 99 people come in and spend 20 bucks on your product, or 1 person come in and spend 50 bucks on your product?
THAT is why we need real financial reform that helps low and middle class Americans. Fund education, agriculture, and health care with even a quarter of the amount of money we spend on ‘defense’ (aka dropping bombs on brown people) every year and we’d see ALL of our problems disappear.
(One more point- for all the racist and ignorant trolls- at least have the decency to post under only 1 screenname. We realize you are trying to make your point of view seem popular, but we’re not falling for your tricks.)

You know… I think I’d rather use a toenail clipper to snip across my entire eyelid than run a blog where I readily accommodate filth, but then I employ bias to determine which filth is too flthy to tolerate. No wonder the “American” experience is $—. Trash news outlets, rag newspapers and low rent “journalists”. All contribute to an ill-informed, socially inept public. And since the truth is painful as hell I am certain my post will be moderated out. Oh well.

WELCOME to Atlanta President Barack Obama !!!!!
President Obama has accomplished remarkable things during his tenure as President of the United States of America. History will show him as one of America’s greatest leaders.
He took office with TWO wars, financial meltdown with banks, auto manufactures and investment companies on the verge of collapse, European instability, economy in a down spiral and a Congress that fight him tooth and nails on most issues.
President Obama took office and stabilized things and helped to end the wars and bring some of our brave heroes home.
May God Bless President Barack Obama and the United States of America.
We pray and hope for your re-election !!!!!

@CD Edwards: Please educate us all on the following regarding your post.
What has HE done with regards to those 2 wars? And what did he PROMISE to do with regards to those 2 wars (here’s a hint: what he has done and what he promised will not be the same if you answer honestly!)
Other than bailing out the banks with my tax dollars, what has he done to stabilize the economy? (here’s a hint: you can’t answer with anything that revolves aroune OPM – other peoples money)
Go look at the House majority when he took office genius. It was a DEMOCRATIC majority – so if there was any fighting from Congress, it was while his party was in the majority (until 2010 when enough voters got tired of that and voted the Democrats OUT).
Just in case you missed his promise – he said he would end the war (that’s still going on 4 years later) and bring home ALL soldiers, not some.
The blind beliefs that you are showing truly indicate that you are not in touch with reality.

We have had Presidents that: Owned slaves, supported slavery, supported the disfranchisement of women and blacks; supported the extermination of Native Americans-killing them-, supported segregation, and you are telling me that President Carter and Obama are the two worst President in the history of our country.
You and people like you don’t belong in this country if you believe that.

Wow. The level of vitriol, ignorance, and utter stupidity in these comments makes me embarrassed to live in Atlanta. Some of you epitomize why the rest of the country thinks the South is such a backwards place. It appears that many of you would like to go backwards, to a time when only white men were allowed to run things.

I think An American and Charles Douglas Edwards prayers may cancel each other out, kind of like when you’re playing rock, paper, scissors and both of you come out with rock.
One of you is certain to be disappointed by the god of your choice, it seems you have both chosen the same god but he apparently will be letting one of you down come November.

Nothing we in the aviation community like more than having our airspace shut down for 7 hours so Obama can visit Tyler Perry… Why doesn’t upset more people? Air Force 1 costs 180k per flight hour, secret service, motorcades, shutting down Atlanta – for a movie about himself! How egotistical do you have to be? He looks at us as an inconvenience most of the time.
