Report: Obama wants to visit Atlanta movie set

President Barack Obama heads back to Atlanta for more fundraising this week, and reportedly wants to visit the set of a movie filming here.

Deadline reports that Obama wants to visit the set of “42,” the movie about baseball great Jackie Robinson. Actor Chadwick Boseman plays the athlete who broke MLB’s color line by joining the Dodgers in 1947, and Harrison Ford stars as Dodgers general manager Branch Rickey. The movie, which has been filming in Birmingham, Chattanooga and Macon, is wrapping up with some final background scenes in Atlanta this week.

AwMBRKyCMAAFla4According to signs going up in Midtown over the weekend, filming will take place this week in Midtown – on Cypress, West Peachtree and Peachtree streets. Thanks to Travis Nichols for sending the image of the notice, at the left. The notice points out that off-duty Atlanta police officers will be there to direct traffic. Traffic’s always affected when movies take over a city street, and of course if the president shows up that’s going to kick things up a notch.

“Well, of course I said it would be OK” for Obama to visit, Legendary Entertainment chief Thomas Tull told Deadline. He has donated $35,800 to the Obama Victory Fund 2012, Deadline reported.

Alliances with the stars helped Obama’s war chest when he was here in March for a number of fundraisers, including one hosted by entertainment mogul Tyler Perry. Obama raised more than $734,000 from Georgians that month.

The president’s star-studded March event did cause a minor dust-up, though, as entertainer Cee-Lo performed the original version of the song rendered into the family friendlier “Forget You” on commercial radio. Cee-Lo’s performance featured a hand gesture familiar to Atlanta drivers who have just been cut off in traffic, too, and a video of the episode made the rounds online.

Details of the movie set visit were still being worked out.

If Michelle Obama woud campaign in the State of Georgia, and make sure to come down southward to the middle, eastern and down where Thomasville, and Waycross are located. The State of Georgia would easily fall into the President’s Column–Easily. Mr. President if you campaign in Georgia, South Carolna, Miss, and Alabama, the President can win the entire South. That is the Magic Jenie that Conservatives don’t want to let out of the bag. Shhhh–don’t tell nobody but Blacks, Hispanic, and Progressive Forward thinking Whites make up the Majority of the vote in the New South.

So, according to Shady (at 1:35pm), if you’re white and don’t look at the truth behind blacks (Hispanics work hard and don’t ask for handouts so they don’t count) then you are considered “Progressive & Forward-Thinking” Ain’t that rich!

So, if I ignore all the problems that go hand-in-hand with 99.8% of black communities I’m now Progressive & Forward Thinking. Awesome!

It’s easy …. b/c they are black that’s why! They don’t want to vote for him b/c they think he’s the best candidate, and could do America some good, they vote for him based on his race. That’s called racism, black folks.

This president just made it legal for 800,000 illegal aliens to come to our country and take what little jobs are left. This was a political move to secure the latino vote. It is sickening and should be stopped. Wake up America!

Oh PLEASE, Mr. Obama, campaign in the South!! PLEASE spend as MUCH time as physically possible in state’s like GA, AL, MS, TN, and SC, as one poster suggested. Please come here and campaign with the progressive whites, Latinos, and blacks. Yeah, see, the more time that jackass spends in states he’ll lose, the less time he’ll have to be in state’s that matter like VA, FL, NV, OH, NM, PA, AZ, WI, and IA. Yes, come here. We can even move the White House to Lithonia or College Park.

@Patriot

Of COURSE it was a political move! What did you expect from a politician? Baseball players make baseball moves; basketball players make basketball moves; football players make football moves, and politicians make–you got it!!–political moves!

And when the people of this country wake up, they’ll do so to the tune of the media’s fawning, slobbering, and moaning over this guy right around September after Labor Day. The media made this guy, and they ARE NOT going to let an informed person like you screw this thing up! In November, you will once again wake up the first Wednesday morning of that month to realize your nightmare was not only real, but it’s going to last four more years.

Why are we as state/county/city taxpayers paying for OBAMA’s visit again for the second time since it is clearly a fundraising visit? I truly do not mind paying if the President visits our city, if it were for official business, but not for fundraisers. And now to do so a second time, what is the amount we are being hit with?

Thanks Barry!! Just in case you have forgotten, the number to U-Haul is 1-800-GO-UHAUL. Don’t worry after “we the people” vote you out in November I’ll go ahead and call and reserve a truck for you. I think Obama should campaign in Georgia and all across the south IF FOR NO OTHER REASON than to piss people like The Man off!! “The Man” is so Fg stupid to actually believe that 99% of the Black community is what he sees portrayed on TV and in the news. People like The Man wholeheartedly accepts the idea of “liberal media bias”, but would never believe that anti-Black media bias helps to drive the perception of who Blacks really are – outside (and unfortunately inside) the Black community. Oh, and let’s not forget the oh so notorious “statistics”..

I am so surprised at how much anger is out there about Obama and black people. The things that influence your life the most are not the President or Black People. It is the stuff you do and decisions you make that have obviously ticked you off enough to deflect your own shallowness to others. Are you the person other people think you are or do you just hide behind blogs throwing daggers. The president of the USA doesn’t have as much power over your life directly as you are giving him credit. So what happens if he isn’t re-elected? Is there a pot of gold, pixie dust and a magic wand that will all of a sudden make your life so wonderful since obviously several of you are just angry, malicious, faceless people with only the power to type instead of anything else. I don’t care about the color of the president, governor, mayor, friend, co-worker, etc. I am more afraid of your hatred and anger that could more quickly impact someone personally (mentally or physically). It is time to come out of your hate closets! I bet if all of you were in a room face-to-face, a whole lot of this bravado wouldn’t be said–most of you would be smiling at playing the game—That is the sad part! Technology has created a lot of advancements and a lot of cowards too!

If Obama isn’t impeached for his role in the illegal gun smuggling or for circumventing Congress to allow illegals to stay in this country, then he will be voted out of office. WE THE PEOPLE are sick and tired of this Fascist and his attempts to drive our country backwards. We need a true leader.

It’s always a joke to see whites say that blacks only voted for President Obama b/c he is black. I guess whites will be voting for willards b/c they are all repubs. Big secret exposed – just like blacks may voted for the President b/c he is black (newsflash – I always thought a person voted for their candidate of choice), there were many (insert white here) who didnt vote for the President b/c he is black.

And anyone who thinks billionaire Mitt Romney give a rat’s tail about poor white trailer park trash has another thought coming. His policies will hurt you as well as minorities because in his eyes you are poor and his policies do not apply to you! It is poor whites who need to wake up and realize they are too poor to be republican – the party of the richest 1%.

Be liberal and progressive all you want, but I’m not sure how any intelligent, honest and self-responsible person wants four more years of Obama. You Obama supporters don’t have much self-respect and have very low standards for leadership. “Handouts”? “Personal responsibility”? Are those the race-baiting talking points people in their perfect worlds can’t stop typing about? Nobody has benefited from handouts like the CEOs of Bank of America, GM and the like, and much to your chagrin, the people who run those companies and take home their bonuses are not black or Hispanic.

Having to live amongst other races is really pissing some people off.

Thank the good Lord above the all knowing will bestow his brilliance upon our great state. If we can only be so lucky by 2016 to have $10 trillion in new debt, the entire Middle East turned upside down, Putin officially mooning Obama to his face, China calling in the loans early, all illegals given citizenship overnight (unless of course you are of European, Asian or Indian descent and have a college degree – get in line sucker) and Michelle My Bell telling how to live our entire day… America will truly then become the home of the brave and the beacon on the hill. Liberty, freedom and independence take a hike!

I’m amazed how people complain about the President which is their right but they can’t explain what it is Romney is going to do for them. He does not take a stance on one issue and the election is right around the corner. The man does not commit to anything. Now black people have been voting for white politicians forever but if they vote for a black one the only reason is because he is black. I’m glad we have a black President because it exposed to the rest of the world our behavior and how we try to tell others how they should live and run their governments. The exposure has been wonderful they all came out of the closet in full force.

It is really sad that some of the people making comments really believe what they have written. First, there are more Whites receiving welfare than any other race of people. Secondly, especially here in Atlanta there are more Black Millionaires than in any city in America and you have more Blacks attending college. Therefore, before you make these incorrect ignorant statments get you statistics and facts straight. Because, you are wrong and before you post again with your misconceptions and misinformation, have facts and statistics to backup your claims. President Obama hands down is the better candidate, his intelligent and if the Republican Congress would stop with all of their Racist behavior, maybe he can get things accompolish. OBAMA 2012!

Hmmm. The choice is ridiculously simple: Re-elect the incumbent who is fighting for preserving my chance at affordable healthcare, the right to marry for my gay friends, the option for affordable student loans, a humanitarian option to grandfather in immigrant children into US citizenship who had no choice in coming here (you’re of immigrant decendency, too, so get over yourself, plus– there is no good decision about immigration and how to handle it–self deportation??), a forward path into energy independence, a terrorist-seeking sleuth who has made my country safer and ended one of two useless wars left-over from an un-named previous mis-guided administration, led us away from the brink of financial armegeddon–again, left-over mop-up from a previous administration—–OR——voting for a marionette whose strings are pulled by a group of seventeen billionaires who want only their self-serving interests provided in return for their monetary contributions: De-regulation to allow their corporations to further pollute and destroy our land while they profit, de-regulation on Wall Street so they can again destroy our economy, destruction of our social safety nets like Medicare and Social Security (in the name of cost-cutting and ’savings’), the elimination of the middle class to further evolve into an ogliarchy controlled by only the very rich, control of my uterus (since I clearly can’t control it myself), more tax breaks to the very rich so I can hope to benefit from their ‘trickle-down’ economic theory–which still hasn’t worked, the slow elimination of my employee rights starting with the destruction of employee unions, where does it stop?……No, my vote is still clearly with this very intelligent, articulate, socially cognizant and magnanimous president—I hope your rush hour is R.U.I.N.E.D by his visit.
