Sock of Ages: Alec Baldwin tussles with photographer

Rise up, gather round, knock this photographer to the ground.

Alec Baldwin, now starring as a rock club proprietor in the silly musical “Rock of Ages,” mixed it up with a New York Daily News photographer Tuesday morning.

The paper’s web site reported the tussle thusly:

“An enraged Alec Baldwin punched a Daily News photographer in the chin Tuesday morning for snapping his picture outside the city Marriage License Bureau. The volatile ‘30 Rock’ star popped lensman Marcus Santos once in the face outside the Worth St. office after apparently obtaining a license to wed fiancee Hilaria Thomas.”

Here is a link to The New York Daily News’ article.

The New York Post reports Baldwin later strolled down the sidewalk wearing a sheet, presumably so no one could take his picture. Here’s a link to that story.

There was more than one camera on the scene during the Baldwinian scuffle, so another photographer photographed the photographer. The actor then took to Twitter.

“A ‘photographer’ almost hit me in the face with his camera this morning,” he tweeted, adding the hash tag, #allpaparazzishouldbewaterboarded.

He then dragged in the Trayvon Martin controversy into the fray, tweeting, “I suppose if the offending paparazzi was wearing a hoodie and I shot him, it would all blow over.”

Baldwin’s representative released this statement to the Huffington Post:

“As Alec and his fiancee were leaving City Hall, a ‘civilian’ walking in front of Alec positioned himself to obstruct the view of a photographer aggressively trying to shoot the couple. The photographer was clearly frustrated, pushed past the bystander and assaulted Alec with his camera. There were no punches thrown, and any subsequent physical contact was simply Alec protecting himself.”

You’ll recall that Baldwin was once bounced from a commercial flight because he wouldn’t quit playing Words With Friends. He promptly tweeted about that, too.

Being a celebrity is a double edge sword and in truth it’s the celebs fault..at times they want the paps in their face.. in their business but ONLY when it serves their needs… so when the paps began to call the shots.. they get upset and feel violated… Ok.. they are volated… but you can’t have it both ways.. so get some security and act like you know you’re a celeb.,…

lowlife photogs should be waterboarded. what a sick way to try to make a meager living, ruining the lives of innocent people, I don’t care how rich, famous, offensive or obnoxious they might be.

“so another photographer photographed the photographer scrapping with Baldwin.”

Is this the best the AJC can do?

A less redundant sounding statement would be:
“So another photographer captured the incident as it transpired…..”

We’re all aware there was a physical altercation based upon the headline. You don’t need to repeat that, or the various uses of “photograph”

You know, there are a lot of scribes out there, far more qualified than you. If you can’t utilize discourse of an educated adult, maybe it’s time you let someone else do it.

Redundancy used on purpose. An event this absurd deserves an absurd approach I think.

Ninty present of those Hollywood trash scumb bags are the ones who needs to be water boarded. I just wish that an earth quake would seperate California from the rest of the country and float off to Iran that would shut those prima bastards and bitches up.

\”…..so another photographer photographed the photographer scrapping with Baldwin.\”

Really? is this the best the AJC can do?

A less redundant approach could have been:
\”….so another photographer captured the altercation as it transpired\”

We already know it was physical based upon the headline and introduction paragraph. Several uses of photographer and photographed in the same sentence is too much.

There are a lot of scribes out there more qualified….Or at least better than you at simple journalistic discourse. Maybe it\’s time you move aside and let one of them earn an honest living.

Baldwin is a bit prickly. That said, the paparazzi are obnoxious.

Put the two of them together and we get a prick(ly) actor punching an obnoxious photog. They deserve each other.

Yep Sir, when “they” want the publicity it is all fine and candy dandy, but when “they” don’t want the publicity it becomes not so good and they like to brag how they are hounded. Alec is a d-bay anyway.

More publicity for Baldwin. Good or bad, he seems to stay in the news. Although he may complain about paparazzi, think he really loves the attention.

a new low,

are you really that insecure about you’re writing that you have to attack a professional who was clearly trying to be funny/redundant? maybe try a little harder to find that writing job and quit writing hateful things on newspaper entertainment blogs.

Never could figure out what she see’s in him anyway other than he’s got bag’s of money. If he was a regular Joe making it payday to payday like most of us she would more than likely call the cop’s if he looked at her sideways.

Absurd? How is a celebrity punching a photographer absurd? It’s nearly an every day event. Even so, I don’t get how being absurd through redundancy is relevant. Sounds more like an excuse for poor language skills.

Jack Donaghy = funny. Hilariously so

Alec Baldwin = Arrogant prima donna twonk who couples his rabid liberalism with calls for paparazzi to be water-boarded, and who takes to Twitter with the frequency and urgency of a pre-teen girl who pines over Justin Bieber and Hello Kitty. He makes his even less-talented brothers seem like geniuses. That’s a feat no dinosaur from the 80’s could accomplish with such aplomb (James Spader, I’m looking at you)

To be fair, I think it is ridiculous that actors, etc., are not legally permitted to attack these vultures without provocation. I guess terrible people would not be able to get their TMZ/US Weekly/People fix without the paparazzi.

Alec Baldwin is among the most heartless of angry liberals around. The pitiless rage exercised against is daughter over the phone is documented. The repeated promises to leave the country if Bush won in 2000 were betrayed, then denied. The bitter angry accusations against his ex-wife is a matter of record. The many angry exchanges with newspapermen, waitresses and flight attendants is also. Nevertheless, because he is liberal, and he “cares,” anything and everything is permitted over and over again. Mel Gibson is no angel either, but the condemnation given Mel, while Alec remains the angel of the liberals, is just one example of how morally corrupt, morally bankrupt, our secular left has become. Liberalism is leading us nowhere except down the cesspool of arrogance, excess, murder, narcissism and self-centered envy. And Alec Baldwin is THE poster boy of America’s sicknesses. Nevertheless, we’ll soon see him again on Saturday Night Live.

Fortunately I usually have no problem separating my respect for an actor from my detest of them as a human being. Although I am a big fan of Alec Baldwin, the actor, dating back to Hunt for Red October and including his wonderful job on 30 Rock, I would probably just beat the H*** out of him if I saw him on the street from what I keep reading about him. It’s hard for many of them to realize that just because they are admired for their skills doesn’t mean anyone gives a hoot about their political or personal beliefs.

Baldwin by now should be used to the attention and understand as a public figure he is fair game for the attention his actions, even if ones he would deem private, receive in a public setting. Or is that just coming from a paparazzo himself? So now who charged who?
