A new reality show seeks Atlanta’s most incredible tattoo artists.

The show, called “Best Ink,” will air on Oxygen. Casting directors from Bunim/Murray Productions, the folks behind such shows as “The Real World” and “Keeping up with the Kardashians,” will hold an open casting call from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 20 at Publik Draft House in Midtown.

The show is described thusly:

“Capturing the drama and culture of the tattoo scene, ‘Best Ink’ will feature approximately 12 top tattoo artists as they compete for a cash prize and bragging rights. These unique artists will produce bona fide masterpieces on skin — something rarely seen in the competition world. The permanent artwork will be created for  - and on – real people in a variety of challenges to showcase the artists’ talents. Only one artist will win the ultimate prize of BEST INK.”

If you’re interested email bestinkcasting@bunim-murray.com with your name, phone number, where you’re from, and a short bio. Naturally, the email must include samples of your work.

More information is available at www.bunim-murray.com.

Good luck!

I thought the tattoo fad was over? I think this show is a little late in the game.

The first season was really a lame ripoff of Ink Master on Spike TV.

Eric Thrice, Southern Star off of Ponce de Leon. I don’t think he’d ever do the show but he’s one of the best around.

Fred: I don’t have an answer to that. I would recommend emailing the casting folks.

Do not cut your bodies for the dead, and do not mark your skin with tattoos. I am the LORD. Leviticus 19:28

Tattoos are on the people who didn’t get the word of the Lord!

Elijah- i do hope you realize that “for the dead” refers to witchcraft. Tattoos do have some rooting in witchcraft however, most today are decorative. It can also refer to in memory of someone who has passed… which unfortunately, some people do not realize this is more than frowned upon. Personally, I think worrying about judging others is probably more of a fault and more wide-spread.

Uhh Elijah….most of the bible is junk written by drunk monks (Drunk monk junk?) thousands of years ago and isn’t relevant anymore.

Psalm 137.9 Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks.
Did you throw your children against rocks? If not, you’re going against the bible!

Genesis 30-38
I hope you got your own daughters pregnant. Not doing so would be against the bible!!

best ink was organized and filmed at EXACTLY the same time as ink masters. it just aired later due to scheduling. neither best ink or ink masters knew what the other network was up to nor did they know how similar their shows were gonna be.

During extremely tough economic times, and for those looking and competing for jobs during this period, what does ink over our bodies tell the prospective employer about our life priorities? Strong suggestion for those in the job looking boat — if you have tattoos, COVER THEM UP!

well said No Name!

I will say I have a back piece and Love it! I learned that one can overcome an emotional scar by going through the tattoo process. Now instead of carrying around an emotional weight- I have a piece of art. Thx

ChunkeyMonkey- i guess it depends on what line of work you are in… however, unless you are inking your hands, face, and neck…. i doubt a future employer will ever know- no should they need too.
