Whitney Houston’s mother will write a book about her daughter, who died this spring at age 48.
The Associated Press reports that Cissy Houston signed with HarperCollins to write the “unabridged and unbelievable story” of her famous daughter.
The book comes out next February and while financial terms weren’t revealed, the announcement indicated that some proceeds will be donated to the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, N.J., Whitney’s childhood church home and where she was memorialized. Her death was ruled a drowning, with drug use cited as contributing factors.
Houston’s family and associates have remained in the news since her passing. Oprah Winfrey featured an interview with her daughter Bobbi Kristina and other family members on her new OWN channel. Bobbi Kristina, who headed to her mom’s north Fulton County townhouse shortly after the funeral, signed on with Tyler Perry to star in some episodes of one of his shows.
And Whitney’s ex, Bobby Brown, said during an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show that his former wife would “want the best” for him.

Why read the book? Didn’t we see enough of her life played out publicly? I’m not supporting these money hungry hustlers! Like her mom is going to tell the “real” truth….smdh

Why does her family keep selling her out? Guess without Whitney, they can’t pay the bills.

I’m sure Harper-Collins offered her a nice sum of money to publish the book.

If the book is to be factual, Cissy will have to get truly REAL about dear Whitney’s drug use.
I was listneing to her music this past weekend and dang that woman had a voice [back then]. What a VOICE! One of a kind. How many more folks have to die before people get it: Drugs don’t do ANYTHING good for you, ever, never.

I bet there will be plenty of buyers of the book in Atlanta, just another sign of why this city has gone to hell.

darb,
you hate atlanta because of the large population of black folks. How does a “city go to hell” by reading a book. Darb…you should try reading a book. You may learn something….like tolerance!

Easy to remember why, all I have to do is drive down to Hartsfield and go to the International terminal to see the large signage accross the road proclaiming the “Maynard Jackson Int’l Terminal. btw, where is that lonely little statue of Ivan Allen located ? We dont have Ms King and longer but Ms Jackson has taken her place when she went around say “Maynard always wated the airport named after him”, and she got her way, to hell with the Hartsfields.

may this is the closure that Whitney ’s mother need, also all the money is going to the church, that Whitney grew up in.
It is a hearting breaking for a parent to bury a child… this leave a deep hole and a void that only time and grace can heal.
those of us who have never been through this should be more senstive and less judgemental.
