I really want to run my first Peachtree this year. I have been running a lot recently and have lost a ton of weight. I want to be able to reward myself by running in this event.

I’ll never forget running my first Roadrace. Back in 2004, I’d mixed up the start times and actually had to run past the street-sweepers and crushed water cups to catch up to the race. As I weaved in and out of the groups of cancer survivors and pro-runners, bikini teams and seniors, beer drinkers and groups of best friends and saw the enourmous crowds of supporters and cheerleaders who packed the sidelines just to applaud the runners, I realized the Peachtree Roadrace is the best example of Atlanta’s melting pot, charm and the city’s goodwill. I’d greatly appreaciate the opportunity for the experience once more.

I have ran the Peachtree Road Race for 5 years under another person’s name. Every year I forget when the sign up for the race will take place. I always here about it after the fact and beg around to run under someone’s name other than my own. Most of the time I ran under a girl’s name. Whoever passed their number usually benefited that I ran in their name because I always got them moved up in their flight. I would like one year to get a number associated with my name to run the race.

I would appreciate winning the numbers to continue to fuel my recovery from a mild heart attack this winter. In the past three months I have lost 25 pounds, dropped my blood pressure to near normal range, balanced my cholesterol and triglyceride levels and learned to handle stress in ways I never knew existed. As a lifetime runner with lapsed habits, this would be the perfect incentive to strap on my sneaks and hit the asphalt.

I missed the deadline this year to participate. It would be awesome to win. I ran the Peachtree for the first time last year, and it was an amazing experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. I was hoping to start a tradition of running the race every year. Although I hope to win good luck to everyone else as well.
