Kim Kardashian apologizes for calling Indian food disgusting

Kim Kardashian’s people issued a statement from the ubiquitous reality show personality, evidently fearing an off-hand remark about a meal could be perceived as culturally insensitive.
“So on this week’s episode of ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians,’ I said that I thought Indian food was disgusting. In NO way was this intended as an insult to the Indian people or their culture. This is just my own personal taste,” Kardashian said in the statement.
She went on to say, “There are a lot of foods I don’t like… I hate cilantro and peppers, and there are definitely some Armenian foods that I personally find disgusting, but that doesn’t reflect my opinions on other Armenian people or my culture.”
Earlier this month part of a dating service ad starring Ashton Kutcher was pulled over fears that it was culturally insensitive. Kutcher portrayed a number of characters, including a fussy fashionista, a Southern dude with tattoos and a man with an Indian accent – that was the character deemed insensitive.
We hadn’t heard any chatter about Kardashian’s remark about food offending anyone, so she appears to be proactively clarifying her comments, lest anyone become upset later.
“My comment wasn’t intended to offend anybody,” said Kardashian, shown at the right in an AP photo. “We all have our own opinions and tastes and I was simply expressing mine.”

Wow – have we become this sensitive to issues like this? I mean that Kim feels she has to apologize, not the fact that she dislikes a particular type of food.
I love certain types of Indian food, but I don’t like others. I think people care about my opinion less than Kim’s, but I wanted to get that out there before someone blows it out of proportion and I have to start an apologetic Twitter feed.

Indian food is not disgusting, considering she is Armenian and likes Armenian food but finds Indian food disgusting? They both are ethnic food and related….with spices etc..but Indian food is a way better and healthier all the spices and vegetables…Who makes the most delicious? She can enjoy bland vegetables..Also, I do find Chinese food disgusting, all with the oil and MSG…but people are just brain-washed!

Thumbs up to curries, tandoori chicken, tikka masala, chicken 65, briyani rice. Not too crazy about excessive cardamon. I like most Indian desserts, particularly the little munchkin looking brown donuts at Rajbhog. It’s mostly good stuff, but if your stomach isn’t acclimated to it, it can definitely blow right through you.

Bruce Jenner used to have some class until he married into that Bunch of loonies. Now he is as goofy as they are. People don’t like certain foods for a variety of reasons – and they just don’t eat it. They don’t get insulting over it. And you don’t have to be from Dunwoody to have good judgment and common sense. Indian food is my favorite. And I was born in Decatur, GA. It may have started when I had Pakistani food with a neighborhood family on a few occassions. I eat it whenever I can and love it. There is a very wide variety of foods, and it is very healthy. That being said, Ms. Kardashian has every right to say that, and I doubt it offended anyone. She just does not have a very sophisticated palate if she can say she finds an entire country’s food disugusting.
