John Travolta vows countersuit following sex lawsuit

AP photo

AP photo

John Travolta’s representatives are fuming after a “John Doe” filed suit, claiming the actor sexually assaulted him and demanding $2 million.

“John intends to get this case thrown out,” a spokesman for Travolta said in a statement, reported by the BBC. “Then he will sue the attorney and plaintiff for malicious prosecution.”

TMZ posted the lawsuit filed by the anonymous plaintiff. Here is the link.

The lawsuit claims sexual assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress. It claims Travolta tried to initiate sexual contact with the plaintiff, who was working as a massage therapist.

The alleged encounter took place on Jan. 16 in Beverly Hills, according to the lawsuit, which was filed May 3.

It’s not the first Hollywood lawsuit to spur a legal counter attack. Teen star Justin Bieber was hit with a paternity suit by Mariah Yeater, a woman who claimed they’d met and had a backstage tryst when Bieber was 16. The lawsuit was quietly dropped after Bieber offered to take a DNA test and promised a counter suit.

Travolta was in Atlanta earlier this year, filming “Killing Season” with Robert DeNiro. He was spotted all over metro Atlanta during his time here – at  Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse, the Brookhaven Starbucks, Flip Burger Boutique, Taka, Aja and the shoe department at the Lenox Square Bloomingdale’s, for example. His family came to Atlanta with him; his wife, Kelly Preston, and their kids toured the Georgia Aquarium one day during the filming.

The earliest report we had of Travolta being in Atlanta was Jan. 24, when he dined at The Palm in Buckhead.

Many of his friends and colleagues have long attested that he is gay and have encouraged him to come out. Kirstie Alley and Carrie Fisher have both insisted that he has lived a homosexual life for many years and his family is simply a front to maintain his image.

Most (not all) men in the acting industry are gay. But I don’t think he will come out because it’s against his Scientology beliefs.

Ummmm, not the first time this has been discussed. He insisted on a male masseuse in the ATL a few years back and rumors were swirling around then about his sexual preference…I’m just saying!.

Jennifer (et al.); it’s “masseur”. A “masseuse” is a woman. This distinction is essential in covering this story. I’m disappointed that a reporter’s vocabulary is so limited.

Not judging because I really could care less what John does in his spare time but since its his wife and children that are the ones that will suffer from all of the bad press thats who I feel for.

Where theres smoke there is fire and John been smoking every since I first saw him on Welcome Back Kotter and Saturday Night Fever. The rumors have been there. What I do find odd is his wives surely had to have heard the rumours over the years yet chose to marry him and bear his children.
Maybe they know something the public dosent. In any event its sad because if its true(and I believe theres some Ring of truth no matter how small) why not divorce and Live His Life the way he wants to and quit the sneaking around with folk you KNOW gonna tell.

The only ones who dont know Travolta is gay seem to be women; who hope he isn’t, like they would ever stand a chance anyway. Most of us knew it going back to Kotter.

Whatsamatter John, Scienentology didn’t beat the gay out of you? so sorry dude, these stories have continued to Pop Up; almost every year. Clearly you are a gay man hiding in a conventional marriage. How sad for your Wife and how sad for you. You have not hid it well. Never that great of an actor, stop lying & Just Come Clean.

Sorry bout that; spelled the name of your cult wrong! Scientology! He has used this cult to brainwash his wives….and his children. So sick, and so sad. Just because you have a bit of dough John doesn’t mean you can make everything go away; just like your Orientation. This is a no go at this point and time. Way too many stories about your “orientation” have leaked out; from the very start of your career. This is a no go, John. Stop lying and hiding behind your wallet.

Gay or not gay, powerful or not powerful, you have to give each case a fair chance. Yes, it seems a little far fetched that a man in JT’s position would do and say the things that are reported, but don’t discount it just because you like him. I happen to love him as an actor, but what happens all to often in this world is that the victim is penalized just because they are somewhat “less” important then then defendant, and that is all based on prejudice. How would you feel if this happened to you? Would you be hurt and angry, embarrassed or fearful? Wouldn’t you be upset if people said that what you went thru was BS, and they weren’t even there? I think he should have went after him criminally first, but if that wasn’t an option, or no way to make him pay for what he did, then the monetary lawsuit will have to do, if he indeed do what this plaintiff claimed. No amount of money can fix the emotional breakage this might have caused.

Kat’s comments are SO mean spirited and abusive. Fancy directing such nastiness at a long respected, long married actor who lost his son Jett (aged 16) a few years ago. It is PERFECTLY obvious that this creep is a despicable liar and opportunist, targeting John Travolta for his money. Scum like this cause untold pain and distress to celebs AND to genuine sex abuse victims. Also Kat, Scientology is NOT and never was a genuine religion. It is a cult with the aim to make money out of believers, unpaid workers and rich celebrities. Poor Jett’s parents realised this too late to get the professional help he needed.

It doesn’t matter to me John’s sexual orientation however; if he made sexual moves towards his masseuse and the masseuse didn’t want it then he should have stopped. If he weren’t a celebrity this wouldn’t be in the papers. He still is a great actor!

No surprise there. It’s very well known in Hollyweird that JT is a homosexual. So is Tom Cruise, Will Smith, and the list goes on. Most if not all of Hollyweird celebs are living double lives. The images portrayed in the media are to increase their likability factor so that whatever they market to the public will sell. It is hardly reality. Many celebs hire fixers to help control negative publicity. That’s why many stories don’t make mainstream news, and when it does the public who rely solely on mainstream media for their only source of news easily dismisses negative publicity as b.s. This story will quietly go away.

@blkshepard: The grammatically correct phrase is “could NOT care less”, not ‘could care less’ as you an so many incorrectly utter.

Repeat after me, “Could NOT care less”. Good job!

I respect that JT is comfy enough in his heterosexuality to play the mom character in Hairspray, and even to have his photo taking kissing a dude right outside his airplane.

Why do people keep attacking him with these vicious rumors?!

If you are finding that comments don’t appear it could be that there is a URL in the post (always a red flag to the automated spam filter).

Well, you all know our stance on homosexuality – but the bible states that he who is without sin let him/her caste the first stone.

It’s a well known fact the JT has taken a lot of mancations with his buddies and this has probably fueled some of the talk….

Oh well we will just have to wait and see how this plays out….

Dirtybirdsin12 @1:27 -
Maybe they forgot to mention the undisclosed millions because she didn’t actually get paid. She knew better than to take up his offer for a DNA test.

DebDoes@9:37 -
I suppose that if he had said OK to a masseuse instead of a masseur, he could be accused of assaulting her instead. Would you refuse to believe he had assaulted a masseuse because he’s supposedly gay? While I don’t believe the theology behind Scientology, the idea that JT is gay is almost as hard to believe.

According to an English teacher, how much less could blkshepherd care? “Could care less” may be gramatically correct sometimes, but it contradicts blkshepherd’s context.
Split decision–spelling goes to “blkshepherd;” grammar goes “to the poster who said…”

blkshepherd is only correct if he meant he does care what John does in his spare time. If he truly meant he doesn’t care what John does in his spare time then it is “couldn’t care less”. Simple really.

I would think he’s probably bi, not gay. Obviously he’s had sex with women.

So gay? No.

And does it matter anyway? He was awesome in Pulp Fiction -that’s what matters!
