TV show filming at the Georgia Capitol

Now that legislators have scrammed for the year, camera crews have taken over the Georgia Capitol.

“Revolution,” a project described by The Wrap as a drama about “a group of characters struggling to survive and reunite with loved ones in a world where all forms of energy have mysteriously ceased to exist,” is filming there.

My colleague Chris Quinn took this photo of Gov. Nathan Deal’s office, which has undergone quite a transformation for the filming.

The NBC pilot by J.J. Abrams stars Billy Burke, aka Bella’s Dad in the Twilight movies (who else is Team Charlie?) and Giancarlo Esposito of “Breaking Bad” fame. The guys were both spotted at Atlantic Station over the weekend.

It’s not the first time the Georgia Capitol has been used as a filming site. The television movie “The Lost Valentine” with Betty White and Jennifer Love Hewitt turned it into a train depot in 2010. It’s a pretty fitting place to shoot, after all, given that tax incentives passed by the Georgia General Assembly in 2008 have since lured a slew of movie and television projects here.

I wonder if ‘The Walking Dead’ will film there? The group got overrun from their farm in the season finale and are looking for a new place to stay. I have a feeling that the massive prison facility shown in the last seconds of the finale won’t be at all permanent for the group. Any rumors of the sort JB?

First my subdivision was transformed for the pilot now they’ve moved on to the Capitol. Georgians sure need to watch this drama and make it number 1.

All energy ceased to exist in the state capitol about 50 years ago. They don’t need a movie to show it.

Traffic has been crazy in the evenings. Wonder how long this movie is going to take. Thanks for the income in the city.

Hey Jennifer (or anyone), do you know what is filming in Covington right now (not Vampire Diaries)? I’ve seen signs for “crew” on Highway 36 and 278, but they are different signs than VD uses.
