Tyler Perry, Bobbi Kristina team up on sitcom

AP photo

AP photo

The late Whitney Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristina will appear in some upcoming episodes of a Tyler Perry show, the New York Daily News reports.

Citing unnamed sources, the paper reports that Houston’s sole heir is to appear in a recurring role in “For Better or Worse.”

The site Straight from the A has details on the collaboration.

Perry has been a stalwart friend since Houston’s death, arranging for her remains to be transported from Los Angeles to her hometown for burial, and speaking at her memorial service.

Bobbi Kristina headed south shortly after her mother’s funeral, where Oprah Winfrey conducted an interview for the OWN channel.

In recent weeks news reports about the teen’s parents have been troubling: her father Bobby Brown was charged with DUI in Los Angeles, and TMZ reported that cocaine was discovered in the hotel room where Houston died. While Houston’s official cause of death was drowning, investigators stated that cocaine use was a contributing factor.

But she clearly has a strong friend in Perry.

Actually, EVERY story should be open to comments–but better board moderation is needed.

@born with a tan- I am a Christian and sadly I must admit that you are right. Many of the ones who will place very rude and cruel comments on here will have just left church not even an hour before! Really makes you wonder!

Tyler Perry’s heart is in the right place, and at least he does have the power to make such an appointment. This is more of a sympathy role, to give her something to do. Furthermore at least he’s attempting to put money in her pocket instead of taking money out. Although she has innate talent, it hasn’t been tapped, and I’m sure she has doesn’t possess a SAG card and has no acting chops. She’d better be careful not to drink the Tyler Perry kool-aid………

There are far more talented students at Mount Zion High School in Clayton County and no one from his studio came to see them perform. It’s his money but it’s mine when I’m asked to support his movies. Hmmmmm…

Racist comments only show the insecurities and fear of the ignorant. And it amazes me how people can hide behind blogs and comments with their rhetoric. Very sad.

@just saying….there are 10,000 producers that don’t hire black folks so leave Tyler alone.

I actually don’t think this is a good ideal. Bobbi need help not a job. She has her own issues that were brought on just by being raised by 2 addicts. Tyler is doing the same thing Whitney’s handlers were doing, forget getting your life together, worry about being on top in Hollyweird. The last thing Bobbi need is more camera in her face.

I think that it is an excellent idea. Hopefully Mr. Perry can re-create a sitcom that features her as the lead actor simular to Mr. Crosby sitcom Different World. We need something to encourage our Black Youth across the country.

To “Born with a Tan”: I am a Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ. I also went to church this morning. Your comments about us all being “haters” is uncalled for. Despite her problems, Whitney was strong in her faith. She often brought her faith and relationship with Chirst in her interviews. I pray that Bobbi Christina has a good life and that her career will be positive. Please think about your hateful comments when you accuse others of being full of hate.

Tyler, you can't save everyone.

I wish that NO ONE would seek to engage Bobbi Kristina into anything right now, esp not something in show business . This girl–CHILD–needs time to grieve her mother’s death and to deal with the drug issue that took her mother and has also affected her.

Like Oprah, TP and others may seek to use this girl for their benefit, but she needs therapy, time AWAY from the cameras and proper guidance from someone with some sense. Although TP often does nice charitable things (I think to assuage his moral conflicts), a man who often dresses as a woman is not necessarily what she needs, nor the spotlight right now. Let the child GO AWAY for a bit. No cameras.

I have to scratch my head at the people on here praising Perry on this. This is purely a move by him to exploit the sudden exposure Bobbi Kristina has garnered since her mothers death to help one of his struggling shows gain popularity. Why not put her behind the scenes and let her learn the industry or get her into a good school if you truly want to help, instead he’s going to hype, hype, and OVER hype her coming on to the cast and if ratings don’t improve he’ll slowly push her character in to the background.

The last thing this young lady needs is the onslaught of paparazzi/media to continue latching on to her and drag her in to the circus that her “dysfunctional” parents reveled in. Let her grieve, let her get her life in order, which is going to be no small task with managing her mom’s estate, keep giving her good advice, and help her find a steady future.

“Instead of using cocaine, why didn’t Whitney try and get that child’s eyes, nose and teeth fixed while she was alive. There’s no getting around it, that child is UGLY.”

I agree with “As I see It” Why isn’t she going to school? She definitely shouldn’t be in the Hollywood crowd. Mr. Perry is trying to help as he seems to be very genuine. I just pray for Krissi. Whitney really
kept her under her Motherly wing. I hope and pray drugs and alcohol doesn’t destroy her too. I loved
Whitney and still can’t let her go. Krissi needs Gods help desperately, I pray she will accept it.

I feel bad for this young woman because she lost her mother and her father is a complete wreck as a human being but giving her a part without earning it? I’ve definitely lost respect for a man that claims it’s all about hard work. This part should be given to an working actor, someone that has been studying and working at the craft. There are so many talented actors our there working their behinds off and it’s insulting to them to lost a part to someone with no legitimate experience. It’s just like NeNe and her roles. Yeah she took classes here in Atlanta but the instructor booted her from the school because of her lack of professionalism.

I’m not a hater, just a realist in situations like these. I wish her the best of luck in the process of grieving but based upon what we’re reading about, she’s beginning to milk the public’s sympathies for her benefit. Earn your place, don’t take hand-outs.

why do we always judge people, before we get to know them.can we please just let her be and see how things go.and stop all the ugle thoughts who are we to judge until we walk in her shoes. And for the person who said that she is ugle please refrain from calling people out of their name because what goes around comes around.

Hopefully, Bobbi will be able to benefit being around sober, working people and not subjected to the daily grind of watching her mother self destruct. I feel bad Whitney could not get the help she needed and hope Tyler Perry’s influence on her daughter’s well being will be the positive experience she probably could use right now.

Mr. Perry, please don’t forget to introduce her to the church. Perhaps being around a positive group of
strong Black Americans who steer clear of drugs will be beneficial. Keep watching over her Mr. Perry.

as someone that has lost a parent this child and yes she is still a child needs to process what has happened and since she is so young she would need more time thn an adult, not a job and not an interview, she needs time, and even though people dont think so , she needs her father and for people not to try to get in between that is wrong and her grandmother is dead wrong and she should also be ashamed

If he was really trying to help her why not send her to school or put her in some sort of therapy. Or best maybe he should stay out of it. The Houston family should be taking care of her. Tyler Perry is like a nerdy High School girl jumping in everyones buisness trying to stay popular. Mind your own buisness and let the child get the help she really needs.

If anyone knows how to get someone motivated and on track, it’s Tyler Perry–and God bless him for that. It’s easy to just sit back and throw insults at one human being trying to help another, and it should be embraced. And, at Gwendolyn Stone @ 1:21P.M.; Tyler’s movies are for people who want to go and see them, not for people who have the”you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours” syndrome/

I just get sick of AJC’s idol worship of Perry. Most of his work I have seen has little substance, somewhat boring and stereotypical. He seems to be full of himself.

Maybe she needs to spend time with her father and go to therapy. No one knows the situation but the people that are in it. We should stop bashing Bobby, because whether some people like it or not that’s the man that Whitney chose to be with for awhile, and to have a child with. I think we should sweep around our own front doors before we try to sweep around others.

Mr. Perry is “exploiting her”, or he’s “doing it out of sympathy” are two completely opposite examples of people jumping to conlusions about people they don’t even know. Wow, I wish I had your abilities to read other people’s minds…………..

There are worse things Bobbi Kristina could be out there doing, and perhaps this short acting gig will keep her away from those things IF that’s the direction she was headed.

I agree Krissy needs more mourning time than most for various reasons, but at least she’s keeping busy and out of trouble.

Tyler Perry is doing great things as usual, God bless him for trying, and I’m keeping the Houston family in prayer.

It is easy and news worth to help the rich get richer how about giving an older black man me who is not famous or rich just a no body a job then I will be impressed. That girl needs Perry’s help about as much as I need gold teeth. She is worth 300 million dollars how much help does she need from Perry and her daddy is in her life. I must be missing something.Oh it’s called ratings.Good try Perry but I am on to you my friend give me a job and I will let the people believe that you are this great guy. One more thing who did you help when you had no money? It is so easy to write a check and guess what you can write it off?

Whitney wasnt strong in her faith!

why do folks say Whitney had such a strong faith in GOD? if she had faith why did she use so many drugs? talking about having faith in an interview isnt the same as living that faith…talk is cheap
