The second season of BET’s show “Let’s Stay Together” is filming right now, so we got together with some of the cast members the other day.

The lighthearted comedy, which centers around Stacy and Charles Whitmore and their hilarious family members, has an impressive pedigree. Queen Latifah is one of the executive producers with Kim Fields having served as a Season One director. Guest stars have included Kandi Burruss, Nicole Ari Parker, Damien Dante Wayans and Anna Maria Horsford.

“I think the show caught on with people because it’s made up of six fabulous characters,” said Joyful Drake, who plays the headstrong and occasionally outrageous Tasha Lawrence-Woodson. “Some people can relate to Jamal. Some people can relate to Tasha. Everyone loves Crystal.”

RonReaco Lee plays Jamal Woodson, Tasha’s good-natured husband.

“How am I like Jamal? I don’t now. I bring a lot of elements of …

Shawn Mullins, left, opened Tuesday's TEDx Atlanta session

Singer-songwriter Shawn Mullins took the stage to kick off today’s TEDx Atlanta session, a convergence of about 300 creative, techno-savvy, forward-thinking hipsters tweeting their hearts out at Unboundary, a slick concrete bunker just west of Coke’s headquarters.

How I got in, I’ll never know.

This is the seventh TEDx Atlanta event. It’s being streamed live here. TEDx Atlanta is an independently organized off-shoot of the TED conferences. Today’s speakers include Eddie’s Attic founder Eddie Owen; Richard Harding, president of End Malaria Now; longtime Atlanta Symphony Orchestra music director Robert Spano and Judith J. Pickens, senior vice president of programs and youth development services for Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

The full list of speakers is posted here.

Owen, who followed Mullins, mused how the artist was tagged a “new” voice in industry publications when his hit single “Lullaby” started climbing the …

Star sightings: Clint Eastwood, Justin Timberlake, Robert De Niro, John Travolta, Adam Scott

good-morning-picsIt’s the first Monday after the Daylight Saving Time spring ahead, so we will ease you into the week with a few star sightings.

“Parks and Recreation” actor Adam Scott made an unannounced visit to the AMC Phipps movie theater for a visit with fans after Saturday night’s screening of his new movie “Friends With Kids.”

We’re told he had a great time answering questions, posing for photos and signing autographs. He’s in Atlanta filming a new movie called A.C.O.D. (Adult Children of Divorce), also starring Amy Poehler, Jane Lynch and Jessica Alba.

Also at Phipps Plaza over the weekend: John Travolta. He was spotted dining at Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse.

Travolta has been spotted all over metro Atlanta since arriving to work on a movie: the Brookhaven Starbucks, Flip Burger Boutique, Taka, Aja and the shoe department at the Lenox Square Bloomingdale’s, for example. His “Killing Season” co-star Robert De Niro has kept a lower profile until recently. We hear he’s been spotted …

Dr. Kenneth Wilson, an attending surgeon and Trauma Resuscitation Committee member at Grady Memorial Hospital, and an assistant professor at Morehouse School of Medicine, is also an Army reservist. He is shown here in Afghanistan..

Dr. Kenneth L. Wilson was sent to Afghanistan to mend wounded soldiers. He ended up stitching cultures together.

An Army Reservist, Wilson was a deputy clinical commander at the 344th Combat Support Hospital in Salerno, Afghanistan, having previously served in Kuwait and Iraq in past years.

During his time in Afghanistan, he tended to blast injuries, limb amputations and other injuries servicemen and women sustained in combat. He also tended to civilians in the area.

“Kids are curious. They will pick up blasting caps,” he said. “We pretty much just saw everything.”

He noticed that many area residents lacked proper shoes, and mentioned it to friends back home. Word spread.

“I told two friends and they told two friends and the next thing you know I …

Star sighting: Robert De Niro

Robert De Niro, in town filming the moving “Killing Season,” dined recently with his wife in the St. Regis hotel’s elegant new restaurant, Astor Court.

He also went clubbing with T.I. TMZ just posted a bunch of photos. Here is the link.

“Killing Season” co-stars John Travolta, who has been spotted all over the place. De Niro has kept a lower profile until recently. We’re told that during his time at the St. Regis he and the Mrs. enjoyed Astor Court, billed repeatedly as a “discreet” place to dine with friends.

We will skip mentioning what De Niro actually ate, since we know that drives some of you crazy, but we were told that he laid an awesome tip on the servers.

Jackee Harry appears in "Brother White" at 7 p.m. Sunday on GMC

Emmy Award winning actress Jackée Harry, known for her roles on “227″ and “Sister, Sister,” has been staying busy in Atlanta lately filming episodes of the BET show “Let’s Stay Together.” This Sunday, she’ll appear in an original production for the Gospel Music Channel, called “Brother White.”

“I had a lot of fun,” she said. “They let me loose to do a little improv.”

The lighthearted drama, set in Atlanta, concerns a small inner-city church that’s about to go under, when a new pastor arrives to try to turn things around. Harry plays the music director with strong opinions about how the church should engineer its turnaround. It airs for the first time at 7 p.m. Sunday on GMC. Here’s a link to the show’s site.

“I’d been working with the Gospel Music Channel trying to find something we could do,” Harry said. “They kept throwing me stuff and nothing was quite what I could do. This one came up and it looked like it …
