Casting calls for new Jason Bateman flick and “Drop Dead Diva”

You oughta be in pictures.

You oughta be in pictures.

Jason Bateman returns to Atlanta for another movie and the project needs extras. Previously here for “The Change-Up,” which filmed here in 2010 and early 2011, Bateman now will appear with Melissa McCarthy in “ID Theft.” It’s a comedy.

An open casting call is planned for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 31 at the Atlanta Marriott Century Center, 2000 Century Boulevard NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30345.

(I listed the address in its entirety for the ease of those Map Questing it on their smart phones).

The casting call will take place in the hotel’s Century East Ballroom, and both those with extras experience and those new to the game are welcome.

From the post:

“Men and women, ages 18 and over only. Non- union. ALL types are welcome, all ethnicities, but the following types are especially needed: Bikers (motorcycle), dive bar patrons, country and western bar patrons, skid row and prisoner types, business (men and women) and mall goers. Come dressed as one …

Harrison Ford, Jason Bateman, Melissa McCarthy to film in Atlanta

Happy start-of-spring. Here are some filming updates for you.

“ID Theft,” starring Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy, is going to be filming in Atlanta this spring.

Moviefone reports “details on the comedy are scant; it revolves around a man whose identity is stolen by a woman (hilarity ensues, etc, etc.).”

Bateman was here in 2010 and early 2011 filming “The Change-Up” with Ryan Reynolds and Olivia Wilde. It was released last year to not-great reviews.

In other news “42″ starring Harrison Ford gets cranked up soon. The film tells the story of the great Jackie Robinson, who will be played by Chadwick Boseman. Ford will play Branch Rickey, the baseball executive who signed Robinson. Industry reports have indicated this one will film in Chattanooga, which has a lovely minor league ball park, but I’m told that it’ll be headquartered here. More details as I find out more.

In less edifying news I’m hearing that another gem in the “Dumb and Dumber” crown may be about to film here. …

Cee-Lo flips bird, drops F-bomb at Obama fundraiser

Cee-Lo Green’s infectious chart-topping song “(Blank) You” can’t be played in its original form on FM stations and it can’t be quoted exactly in a family newspaper. But it can be played at a presidential fundraiser, evidently.

Here’s a link to a video clip of Green dropping the F-bomb and giving the one-finger salute during a Friday fundraiser in Atlanta for President Barack Obama. Obama had a number of fundraising stops here that day, and was not present during Green’s time on stage. The AJC did have a reporter at the event but he also did not witness the performance as reporters were held in a separate location at the time. A pool reporter who was granted access to the room said he was not close enough to the stage to hear clearly.

The video clip is pretty clear, though. On commercial airwaves Green’s song has been rendered into the more family-friendly “Forget You,” but the clip shows him launching into the unedited version.

The artist exuberantly previewed his …

Spotted: Amy Adams, Justin Timberlake, Clint Eastwood of “Trouble With the Curve”

424108_3142133864884_1011078506_2999042_134507396_nAmy Adams, Justin Timberlake and Clint Eastwood have come to Atlanta to film the baseball-themed movie “Trouble With the Curve.” Filming has taken place all over metro Atlanta and beyond, with shooting recently in Macon and now in the Athens area.

On Thursday Adams was spotted in Athens. She strolled into the Cheeky Peach boutique on North Hull Street wearing sunglasses and a casual outfit. Not recognizing her famous patron, owner Katie Jacobs asked if she’d spotted any of the celebrities in town shooting the movie.

“Uh, no,” Adams said.

One Jacobs realized who she was talking to, the ladies shared a laugh and posed for this photo.

Meanwhile Eastwood and Timberlake, along with pro golfer Billy Andrade, hit the links on Thursday at the Peachtree Golf Club yesterday with a certain local real estate mogul.

Hurry! Enter the Bracket Fiasco for a shot at $1 million!

49648_Landing_01_1326469aMark Madness has begun!

Mark Bradley, that is. The 25th annual Mark Bradley’s Bracket Fiasco is open for business. Your lucky picks could win you $1 million!

Join the fun by registering here.

If you need help, click here for some expert guidance.

As a Tar Heel I am honor bound to name the University of North Carolina as the NCAA victor. Bradley likes Carolina, too. Read his analysis here.

I did fill out a bracket but it was not so successful. For example, I didn’t know if KSU meant Kansas or Kennesaw State University. Neither, advised my helpful Twitter friend Alpha Mark:”Kansas State University. Kansas is KU. ;)

Tyrell Ann Nichols stepped forward with an assist, too. And a warning: “Just make sure you don’t mix up Kansas and Kansas State. That’s very bad!!!”

Daniel Beeson ‏advised, “Put your faith in my alma mater, the New Mexico Lobos.”

The who?

It should be obvious now why I do not write about sports.

But, you have Bradley and his ilk for that, so hustle off to his blog

Kim Kardashian and NeNe Leakes hit the town again

Kim and NeNeKim Kardashian and NeNe Leakes had another night out in Atlanta last night. This time they visited Twist, at Phipps Plaza in Buckhead.

Kim’s appearing as a guest star in a few upcoming episodes of “Drop Dead Diva,” which films in Peachtree City. She was here not long ago, and she and NeNe hit STK in Midtown.

Here’s a link to that story.

As before the two reality stars chronicled their outing via Twitter.

“HOTlanta is not the same without dinner with NeNe Leakes,” Kim tweeted. “LOVE YOU!”

She also posted this photo of the two of them.

Responded NeNe: “Just had the best dinner & drinks wit my favorite dash doll.”

We’re told the two shared a tapas spread of edamame, miso soup, yellowtail jalapeno, spicy salmon roll and shrimp tempura. NeNe had a pomegranate martini and Kim had a Diet Coke and chamomile tea. A sorbet cone fit the bill for dessert – along with a lemon tart and cheesecake.
