Tim Tebow heading to Atlanta

AP

AP

Tim Tebow is coming to Atlanta to serve as one of the featured speakers at the Chick-fil-A Leadercast 2012, a leadership seminar.

The May 4 event will be held at the Georgia World Congress Center downtown, and broadcast live to numerous satellite locations.

Other Leadercast speakers will include Tebow’s former college coach Urban Meyer, Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts, authors John Maxwell and Pastor Andy Stanley and CNN’s Soledad O’Brien.

The goal of the event is “to be the can’t-miss leadership development event that is both affordable and accessible to all leaders throughout North America and around the world.”

Here is the Leadercast web site for full details.

Tebow and Maxwell also will appear at at May 2 event at 12Stone Church in Lawrenceville. The two will discuss sports, leadership and the Great Commission – Jesus’ instruction to the disciples to spread his teachings. See this site for full details.

Tebow has kept sportwriters busy in the NFL off-season with his trade from the Denver Broncos to the New York Jets. New York scribes have eagerly welcomed their newsworthy new star, chronicling his outings (he saw “Wicked” on Saturday) and wondering about which red carpet events he might grace.

A Sunday New York Times story speculated that Tebow’s strong faith and beliefs “might not exactly endear him to some of the people who control the guest lists at the film and theater premieres, club events and fashion shows that make up a huge part of the city’s social scene,” although an accompanying photo showed him at a Vanity Fair party with actress Jennifer Westfeldt and actor Jon Hamm, known as Don Draper on ”Mad Men.”

Bring in a guy with 3 neck surgeries who’s about 37 years old when the season starts vs a new up and coming qb who can run and will throw better as he gets more experience. Brilliant! And pays the guy 20 mil guaranteed! Insane risk right there. One hit and PM is out.

so with Tim Tebow and Urban Meyer they are really looking to appeal to the local crowd. There should be more jean shorts at that event than usual.

I will be glad when this guy is out of football and on to his televangelical and/or political career.

would be kinda funny if the seminar was in athens. That would have been some good news to report. Meyer and Tebow speaking to “listeners” at the UGA campus.

I sincerely doubt that Tim would be upset in the least if some ‘guest lister’ kept him off their precious little list because of his faith. Much more likely that if he found out, he would put them in his prayers that night.

Who is Tebow going to thank at this seminar? He starts out every speech by giving thanks to someone.

Don’t get me wrong – I’m cool with Tebow. But, what leadership skills will he be discussing? Being able to throw a football in and of itself does not equal being a good leader (nor does it equal being a good Christian, by the way).

Tebow will throw a football across the Hudson River and through a hanging tire 1,000 times per morning for the next 150 days until he beats out Mark Sanchez for the starting QB job in NYC.

Why would a great christian pick NYC? He knew Jacksonville needs him but he turned his back on them. A lot more stuff goes wrong in NYC than Jacksonville. Seems like he wants the extra attention to me. He did leave Jacksonville bloody one year after playing the DAWGS!! guess its like classical conditioning lol

Who cares? Tebow is the most overrated QB in the NFL. Urban Meyer is a snake in the grass.

@brian- I think it would be a place where he could share the gospel more to people in need of it more is just my opinion as Jesus did as well- Jesus was asked this very question why he preached or reached out to undesirables… ” And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners? When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance”

Brian = clueless. Tebow didn’t pick, the Broncos did. They had control over the trade, not him or his agent. But don’t let the facts get in the way of a lame slam.

whoever think tebow is a NFL qb,I would say to you,do not let your religious views get in the way of determining true talent.Tim Tebow is not a NFL QB and he never will be, I dont care how many times he throws a ball through a tire and he knows it, and John Elway knows it.The only thing this guy is doing is manipulating the religious right to keep him employed.By the way,he’s not the first person who kneeled and thank and prayed to the good lord above for success on the field…The ones I remember prayed more often in the end zone and not so much for a mediocre few yards…Get Real!!

Tebow is such a phony. I would never attend anything that he is involved with. New York will chew him up and spit him out. Hopefully he will just go off into some 3rd world country and never be heard from again. Also, I hope the Jets lose every game they play while he is on the team.

@Brian…….I wish he had chosen any of the Fl teams other than the Jags…Jacksonville is a very unforgiving town. It’s a glaring momento of the Dixie Era….Teabow seems too evolved to adjust to that type of cultural environment anymore. NYC will polish him and add a whole other level to his wonderful personality. it’s a win-win……..

Interesting how this article labels Andy Stanley as an “author” rather than a “pastor” which is what he was first and pastors the second largest church in America.

I can’t believe how stupid some of you guys are…”Peyton for Tebow was a bad move.” Really? “What leadership skills does Tebow have?” Um lets start by hes the leader of his team, which is his CAREER. Throwing footballs and working behind a desk are both jobs, one just pays more. “Tebow will never be a good QB in this league.” What more does he have to do? Win a freaking super bowl??

So funny to me how all the haters have never met him. I haven’t heard of anyone who has ever met him that had bad things to say about him. Just goes to prove anyone who is successfull is always going to have people putting him/her down. Not trouble with the law, good example, good role model, but you still put him down.

@AZCAT – He did have a choice between Jax and NY. He chose NY. Partially due to Rex Ryan. Not exactly sure why but that is what he said.

As Jesus was criticized by the Pharisees for associating with tax collectors and other “sinners” , and as he replied ‘It isn’t well people who need a doctor” , so be it with Tebow going to New York! That city needs some religion!!!

As a dyed-in-the-wool DAWG fan I am, therefore, a registered “Gator hater.” Now, having said that, I can’t tell you how much I admire and like Tim Tebow and wish he has a breakout year with the Gang Green. Those who deride Tebow are envious of his ability and stability – particularly in the face of various atheist, secular, humanist and other wierdo groups that constantly belittle him for his religious views. Down on one knee to give thanks to the Lord is bad but giving the stadium crown the “bird” gets barely a mention in the press. Tell me, if you can, what mother out there would love to have her daughter bring home Tim Tebow to introduce his as her date?
