Harrison Ford movie seeks baseball-playing extras

The baseball movie “42,” which is about the life of the great Jackie Robinson, starts filming soon in Atlanta and beyond. It stars Harrison Ford as the baseball executive who signed Robinson, while Chadwick Boseman will play Robinson.

There’s a big casting opportunity for extras who can bring the heat. The film needs “experienced baseball players ages 25-38″ for some upcoming scenes. This is serious business – they’re going to send you to training camp first before shooting starts so you’re in good form for the movie.

The open call will be March 27 and 28, followed by an on-field tryout for those who make the cut.

Here’s how you get involved:

See the website www.SportsStudioCasting.com and create a free profile, including recent photos. A headshot as well as one of you playing ball would be optimal. Include your sizes, athletic experience and contact information.

After you’ve done that click “Casting Calls” and submit your profile. You’ll find more details there.

Then, you also need to e-mail your information to CLCBaseball@gmail.com.

@fan… Really? You’re upset because Hollywood is making a baseball movie and you think its trying to cash in on Moneyball? Just because Moneyball was good (and it was really good), that doesn’t mean that it should be the end of all baseball movies. There have always been sports movies and there will always be sports movies, so just get over it.

@fan of theabnormal-Yes you are 100% correct, the Jackie Robinson story was thought up after someone saw moneyball. Where did you people go to school, oh right…the south.

Yea its a movie about Jackie Robinson. That deserves its own movie. It has nothing to do with Moneyball other than the fact that it’s a baseball movie. The setting isn’t even in the same time period. Nowhere close

I’d really like the movie to take the Jackie Robinson angle differently. Like have hime be a doplganger for Smokie Robinson and have them switch places and fight crime with Green Lantern type superpowers.

There was a recent casting call in Macon for younger players to play in a movie that Clint Eastwood is involved in… don’t know if he’s starring or directing or both. I’m not sure exactly when the shooting is or if it has already happened. They were using the old Luther Williams field in Macon, which is one of the oldest ballparks in the country, and basically sitting there idle nowdays.

I would love to come out, but honestly I have never played a single sport in my life, so I don’t think they want me out there unless they need a player to strike out….
