Charlie Sheen’s in Atlanta, having tagged along with ex Denise Richards, who’s here working on Tyler Perry’s latest Madea movie, “Madea’s Witness Protection.” Their kids are here, too.
“Packing the family..heading to Atlanta tomorrow to finish the movie. Kids coming & Charlie Sheen,” Richards tweeted this week, adding the hash tag “familytime.”
Sheen responded: “As always D… A great week coming!! XO”
The two have had a rocky past but have mended fences, Richards told Access Hollywood in January after spending the holidays together with the children.
“We’ve actually become like brother and sister, we really have,” she told Access Hollywood. “We’ve become very, very good friends and we wanted to have a trip with our daughters – and it’s Christmas for them, so it’s good. When we all spend time together, it’s great for the kids and for us too. We actually get along.”
She added that she and Sheen make things work by focusing on the kids.
“I think [the key is] making it about the kids. The stuff between the couple — if you’re divorced — it’s no longer about you anymore,” she said. “You have to be the bigger person and make it about the kids and so that’s what we’re doing.”
Sheen was here last year, making a tour stop at the Fox Theatre. My colleague Rodney Ho and I flipped for it and he lost the coin toss, so he covered it. “Things started getting ugly fast,” RoHo wrote. Read all about it here.
The Atlanta trip, on the other hand, has been pleasant, it sounds like. Earlier this week, Richards tweeted this photo indicating Perry’s a great guy to work for and posted, ”Mr. Tyler Perry makes sure we have fresh flowers in our trailer every week…so lovely!”
The Sheen-Richards camp has been staying in Buckhead. We’ll tell you where after they leave. #notstalking.
A source spotted Sheen last night running a pretty mundane errand in Buckhead and said he looked very thin but otherwise low-key. He was pleasant and soft spoken, our tipster says.
Richards seems pretty low-key, too. She flies commercial and opts for comfort. Here’s a blog post in which she details the outfit she chose for the flight to Atlanta a few weeks ago. She appears to be standing in an airport security line.
“It was important to me that I looked put-together, but that I would still feel relaxed during the almost four-and-a-half hours on board,” she wrote.
From her Twitter timeline it sounds like she’s about wrapped up with her part in “Madea’s Witness Protection.”
