Atlanta star sightings: John Travolta, Mehcad Brooks, Cam Newton

Here are some non-Whitney Houston celeb updates for you.

John Travolta dined at Market in Buckhead Thursday, with two other guests.

He was also at the Brookhaven Starbucks (photo at the right) and at Taka in Buckhead (photo at the left) this week. He’s in town filming a thriller called “Killing Season,” which also stars Robert De Niro.

While the shooting is taking place mostly in the north Georgia mountains (the film is set in the Appalachians) Travolta has been spotted a number of times in Atlanta.

Megan Hilty of the new NBC series “Smash” was in Park Tavern in Midtown with a group of friends last week.

We’ve gotten a number of celeb sighting reports at STK, which is a swank new steakhouse in Midtown.

Actor Mehcad Brooks (”Necessary Roughness”), rapper Nas,Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton and “Vampire Diaries” cast members Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder have all been by recently.

You actually felt compelled to tell us what they ate?

How desperate is your life?

Well I have not actually tried Sprite and OJ together but it sounds like a nice idea. Sparkly, citrusy. Shoot, why not?

I hope the non-Whitney Houston statement was not meant to be a joke of the coverage of her death. If it was, IMO, it iwas tasteless coming from a professional in the media, and the AJC. Most people are really interested in what other celebs eat, and where, well not everyone.

Priorities: Your point is well taken. This blog is about celebrities, though, not the military. Military news can be found elsewhere on ajc.com if you are interested. This update, posted a few hours ago, gives the latest number of American military personnel who have died in Afghanistan: 1,771 – a tragic toll.

Articles in Newspapers and on News websites give titles to there articles, which draws the readers attention for them to read the article. The content of that article may or may not be of interest to the reader once they have completed reading it. The add comment section, on the website, is to get the readers opinion of what was read and how they may feel about it. So, it is not a matter of if you don’t like the article don’t come on here and read it. If that was the case, then we would agree with everything we read. Mrs. Brett’s article did what it’s was suposed to do, attract readers, and obtain a response. Atleast she is willing to respond to readers comments concerning their opinions. Thank you Mrs. Brett.

Who are we kidding?! Yes, this is terrible news, terrible reporting, but even worse that we care. We read this stuff, feel guilty about it, and take it out on poor Jennifer. That is how celebrity news works. If anyone of the “haters” saw Travolta in Starbucks, whould you not tell your friends about it. Of Course!!! Well that is what is going on here! Keep it up!

We Atlantans don’t like reading about no whiteys. If you see Rappers, Denzel Washington or Mike Vick you can write about that, anything else don’t matter.

Seems like the same people (with the same IP addresses) are posting on here that they don’t like the article, the headline, the actors, their food choices, the writing, the author, and so on. This is entertainment. Unlike some other posters’ opinions, I say keep posting and saying that you aren’t interested! I think the AJC only cares if people are responding via posts – not the content of the posts themselves. You are keeping this writer (whom I happen to enjoy reading articles by) employed. The more you post, the better for her. Basically (for those that do not understand), you are having the opposite effect – you keep these types of articles coming. So, thanks!

Michael: The Buzz is a celebrity blog. Articles about transportation, water and other issues can be found elsewhere on AJC.com. Here’s a link to a column regarding some transportation issues:

Here’s a link to the most recent article about the ongoing water wars between Florida, Alabama and Georgia.
