Comic Tracy Morgan’s mom complains he won’t help her

AP photo

Comic Tracy Morgan, who once joked during a stand-up routine that he’d stab his son if the youngster acted gay, is back in the news with more family-related drama.

Morgan issued an apology for his gay joke but is not responding to claims by his mother that he will not help her financially.

Alicia Warden of Ohio, who discussed her plight with the New York Daily News on the condition that her address was not revealed, said she faces foreclosure and is about to have her utilities disconnected because she cannot pay. She told the NYDN that she owes less $25,000 on her home, but that her son would only offer a gift of $2,000 when she requested financial assistance after her unemployment benefits ran out.

“My mom’s house isn’t extravagant, but it’s her home. Her health is failing. She has diabetes, and her legs are giving out on her,” his sister Asia Morgan said. “This would be a drop in the bucket for Tracy. She has a son that can do, and she’s done everything that she could possibly could for her family.”

Asia added, just in case anyone was unclear how she feels about her brother:

“He’s never been a nice person. Money’s just made it worse.”

Earlier this month Tracy Morgan was rushed to a hospital after collapsing at the Sundance Film Festival. His representative said he succumbed to a combination of exhaustion and altitude, and Morgan soon tweeted news of his recovery: “Superman ran into a little kryptonite. The high altitude in Utah shook up this kid from Brooklyn.” He is back at work filming “30 Rock,” he said in another post.

Morgan was at Sundance to receive the Spotlight Initiative Award.

Maybe the 25k she owes on the house she borrowed against the house after he paid it off before. I know all to too well how family turn on you when you stop giving everytime they jump. My moms did hair for years. I bought her a salon cash and she had five folks paying for stations in it..paid for her home and car….then she got more bills and how? New attitude ran the people who rented the booths away and have the nerve to get mad because she thought she should live like she made a million a year. sold the house and bought one that she has to pay a mortgage…so Tracy…I feel your pain…at some point you have to live your own life.

I am so in agreeance with “Been There Done That”. just because she is his mother, doesnt mean the relationship is not toxic.

Tracy may not have the money to give to his mother and he may not be able to say that. He may be broke too. We don’t really know how much money he makes or how he manages it for that matter. He’s been through a lot here lately. He just may be broke and to proud to say so or admit to his mother and his family that he dosen’t have any money.

This guy is a sorry excuse for a son. Regardless of what we may not know about his relationship with his mom. She is still his mom and if he could help her then he should.

I agree with all the posters that say here are two sides to every story and moreso when family is involved. For all we all know he could have given her the money before and she spent it on something else. I had a family member to do that and tried to justify their actions. I explained but the need is still there so what did you really accomplish, so while in theory he should help his mother, he may already have and that could be the part of the story being left out by the sister. But then again, maybe not.

Mothers are important people in our lives. But, some child/parent relationships aren’t always healthy.

It’s his money, not his mother’s, not his sister’s. Even if he IS doing it out of spite or meanness, it’s his money to do with what he sees fit!

Keep your Bible verses and your conjecture about their relationship to yourself! I’m sick of people trying to dictate to others what they should do with money that the other person has earned.

And I certainly know the deal about able-bodied adults being a sponge off you. It’s gets old really quick and they never go away because there’s always a hard luck, sob story.

I really like @ Sunny’s post. Taking this personal family matter to the media reeks. Does his mom and sister think they can “shame” him into paying her bills? Of course, there are two sides to every story, but if he is just being an @ss, then shame on him for not helping his mom out.

I’ve helped out family before and won’t do it again. Once you start, it’s always expected. There are two sides to a story and I’d like to hear both sides. Doesn’t matter if he is “nice” or not. It’s his money and he doesn’t owe it to anyone, unless he isn’t paying for any children that he may have.

Don’t know anything about him or his family situation, but folks who think that children are obligated to help their mother NO MATTER WHAT have clearly never been victims of child abuse and neglect.

I really hope this isn’t true. However we don’t know the whole story, but I think he still should honor his mom, regardless of how bad the past was. I had to forgive both my mom and dad for numerous mistakes of the past. I basically had to figure out life by myself.

People always think you are suppose to take care of your mother. We do not no what he has to do with his money. I understand where he is coming from I am in the same situation where my moms thinks I’m suppose to pay the mortgage on the house she is living in which is my house and I have a second house note to pay as well. I don’t make the money Tracey makes and probably never will. Sometimes its best to let family go. Until you have walked in those shoes never say what one should or should not do. Moms can be shady I know.

Is this situation wrong? In the eyes of many..YES
Does Tracy Morgan owe you anything? Im sure he doesnt
Tracy Morgan is not an elected politician, and he does not have to explain anything to any of you and that is the problem, you guys act you have a vested interest in this situation. If I personally was in his shoes I would take care of the ones who stood in my corner, and you would be surprised who would actually be “there” when you need them. For her to go to the media to state your case is WRONG.
Everyone knows that the haters enjoy stories like that
But you guys need to

Why are we passing judgement on this dude. My question is… Why take your issue to the mainstream when that kind of stuff should be kept in-house. Talking bad about a person on tv, radio or etc. that person has an alternate agenda or was paid by someone to make those kind of statements. Why make assumptions or pass judgement about Tracy when you only have one side of the story.

4xtra, you made the best statement of them all, “If I personally was in his shoes I would take care of the ones who stood in my corner, and you would be surprised who would actually be “there” when you need them. For her to go to the media to state your case is WRONG.” Eveyone passing judgement and not even getting paid for this issue at hand. I am still LMAO about the one-sided opinions these people make about these types of posts.

So not giving his mother money is not “honoring” her? That is laughable! None of us at all know the real story. He probably gave her a million dollars over the last 10 years and she and “sis” have pissed it all away on everything except paying off the house! Wait. I know, he’s a black 1%er..EVIL he is!Not a nice person.

Two sides to every story! My first question is, what kind of Mother would go to the media with a story like this about her own child? Sorry, but that says alot about her and the sister too. I say, if he’s not a nice person, seems like the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

I don’t know what kind of a relationship he has with his mom or the other family members. If she owes only $25,000 on her home she must have been diligent in paying the mortgage. If it is true that he will not help his mother, I hope he remembers that same shoes can fit his feet. The last thing I want to say is even if his mother is lying in the gutter he should still reach down and pick her up regardless of the type of relationship they have.

Whenever someone puts their “business” out there for public consumption, we have every right to pass judgement. If you don’t want people to talk crap about you … then keep your mouth shut, pay your bills and stay out of trouble.

This mom and daughter are probably two peas in a pod. The reason he is so mean probably has everything to do with growing up in a household with these two losers. Epic Fail on the PR campaign ladies!

I do not know if the story is true, and sometimes he strikes me as a nasty person. BUT…as one who had a mother LIE to people that I wasn’t helping her, etc., when I had dozens of canceled checks (for thousands of dollars each; I have an advanced degree) PROVING that I did, you just don’t know.

My mother was a very manipulative woman who loved to lie, and she told a bunch of people that I’d left her destitute, etc. It was just BS to gain sympathy; she was mad that I didn’t move back to where I grew up, which was NEVER in my plan. After YEARS of holding my tongue, I finally busted her. I sent copies of letters I’d written her, offering her this and that, and copies of all those checks to six people and told them, “She is LYING to you!!” You just don’t know for sure; that’s all I’m saying.

Just because someone gave birth, doesn’t mean they are a “mother” in spirit and action.

What type of sister goes to the media to talk about her brother? In addition what kind of statement is “he’s mean”, that sounds like something my 11 year old would say. The statement about he only gave 2K also stands out because 2K is saying he tried to help. I too had to start telling my mother NO because I had a stepfather at home with her not working and other adults not working in the house all the while having my own wife and kids and 2 mortgages to worry about. There is a difference in helping those who deserve and those looking for a handout. I am the first to bend over backwards but being taking advantage of will not happen on my watch and Tracy probably feels the same way.

After watching the mother get upset about her high school football star son agree to go to Alabama rather than LSU, I think some children cant wait to get the heck away from mom! I agree with Tracy, its her debt and it is very telling when the sister says $25,000 is a drop in the bucket. This just seems dysfunctional…how the hell do you think throwing Tracy under the bus helps? I think his family is riding on his coat tails.

His mother’s financial problems are HERS – not Tracy Morgan’s. If he doesn’t want to help her, that’s his choice. Maybe there is a reason that he does not think that she needs all the financial help. She is living beyond her means thinking her son is going to come to the rescue to help her when she makes poor financial decisions – PLEASE! BE an ADULT! And make responsible financial decisions. Just because you know someone or are related to someone who is in a better financial position does not mean that you are entitled to what they worked for. She ought to be ashamed of herself!

The situation with Tracy Morgan’s mother is not of whether or not she is entitled. It’s about humanity. You don’t need to have a relationship with your mother to know that allowing her to lose her home when you are able to help her is a debasing act for any human being. If you do noy have human compassion for your own, you have no human compassion for anyone. The only side of the story that matters is that the woman who “shed blood” for him does not matter to him. Now tell me, What woman does he love?”

Honestly, its all fine and well for us to pass judgement on this man and his situation and for his family to try to put him on front street. The truth of the matter is that we dont know what the real situation is and we dont know who is taking advantage of whom or what has been done in the past. I have cut off family members who have viewed me as a gravy train so I know the feeling. He made his money and what he does with it is his own business. He doesnt owe anybody anything. He offerred some support just not to swoop in and save the day only to have it happen again next month. Im sure this isnt the first time and Im sure he knows it wont be the last

It is true there is two side to every story. I am not a fan of Tracy but I do believe that no matter how much he has made in the entertainment world. No one really know the truth behind him only offering $2000.00 instead of paying the house off. One thing bothers me is the fact his mother and sister took it to the press like that would make him do what they want. If I was Tracy in that situation would not payoff the house and only offer the amount to keep the house out of foreclosures. It is more to this story that the mother and sister is not telling the media. I will not pass judgment on this man. It was said on the radio this morning that Tracy has been sending money to his mother previous, and stated that some people in Ohio was saying how his mother and sister was out buying coach purses and other high priced designer items, etc.. This could possible be the problem that Tracy did give the mother the money to have been able to pay the off in full already. The family seem to think this man owes the them for something that he has accomplished in life. It’s his money and how he decides to spend it. I think with his health issue that he needs to put his money under lock and key, because if he gets down and cannot work then who is going to take care of him. Going through a kidney transplant is not cheap by all means. I just do not like the fact the mother took it to the media to make Tracy look bad. If this was truly a family issue then only the family should be aware of it, but it’s like the mother and sister are playing games to get people to feel sorry for their lack of budgeting their finance. Yes, her unemployement ran out and the sister needs to be working too. My unemployment ran out last year and I do not have a wealthy son. I have not worked in two years and I managed to keep my mortgage and bills paid with no shut-off or possible foreclosure. My home is not in the slump either but it’s called budget your money and give up on some the wants to focus only on the needs. I someone will not agree with me but this is my opinion on the one sided story of Tracy Morgan.

I am not a Tracy Morgan fan (although I love 30 Rock, I do not think his character is funny at all). However, he did not leave a girlfriend who donated a kidney. She was already his ex-girlfriend when he asked her for the kidney; he had left her for another woman when they had a relationship previously. She still donated the kidney to him. He didn’t let any of his family know about his transplant (they found out after the fact), nor ask any of them for a kidney. Obviously something is amiss with the family relationship.
Nobody here knows what has gone on and cannot judge him; as many people have said, he could have helped them many times; the mom could have squandered her money on drugs, treated him badly, etc. Usually family comes out of the woodwork when one gets money. I had a parent who was VERY difficult to deal with and even though I let her live with me till her death, I don’t blame others who make the decision to shut parents/siblings out of their lives. Unless you’ve dealt with it, you have no idea.
That said…on Watch What Happens Live on Bravo a couple of weeks ago, Katrina Bowden (the girl who plays Cerie, the ditzy assistant on 30 Rock) was asked by Andy Cohen who was more difficult to work with, Alec Baldwin or Tracy Morgan. She immediately answered “Tracy”. So…

Is this anyone’s business? People are so quick to pass judgement but you all know darn well you have some relatives that you can’t stand and don’t talk to included mothers and fathers. I was raised to take care of mine and not expect someone else to give handouts. The question begs what in the heck was his mother doing?, so don’t put her misfortunes on him, apparently he was not living with her. So, she cannot blame him for using up her money. Parents should not expect their children to bail them out of every situation. There is certainly two sides to this story and for the sister to come out as she did she was 1000% Wrong! So what if he is mean she knows it and the mother knows it and its not the reason to air dirty laundry, for it will not shame him, it could backfire if it has not already.

The reality is not every family is a close knit unit so get over it. There is no rule that says you have to bail out our family especially if they are not worth the dime.

It doesn’t matter what interview his mom did or didn’t give it’s still his mom. He should have her living in a mansion . When some people acquire money they forget where they come from and all of the sudden they don’t need anybody . He could lose that s–t tomorrow . As far as I’m concerned he is a low life piece of s–t I will never support him by watching any movie he’s in or anything .
