Atlanta rapper T.I. paid tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during a weekend performance.
The artist performed several songs at the Hennessy VS MLK Weekend event held Saturday night at Compound nightclub. His set included “Spend It,” “Can Get Me In Trouble” and “Rubber Band Man.”
The place was packed. The crowd included fellow Atlanta artist Big Boi, DJ Kid Capri and Lisa Wu Hartwell, a former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” cast member.
During his performance T.I. took a moment to address Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday and how important it is to keep the fallen civil rights leader’s legacy alive.
“We all need to remember Martin Luther King Jr. and never forget what he’s done for us,” T.I. said.
No word on whether VH1 camera crews were on site to capture the evening for the reality show “T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle,” starring T. I. and his wife Tameka “Tiny” Cottle.
According to a recap of the last episode posted on VH1’s web site, it sounds like the couple has been dealing with some pint-sized drama lately:
“T.I. and Tiny’s son King has been staying with his grandmother and she’s been spoiling him rotten. But when it’s time to come home the little guy puts up a big fight, and T.I. and Tiny are faced with trying to discipline their wild child.”
Good luck with that one!
