President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama greeted Tuskegee Airmen at a special screening of the movie “Red Tails” at the White House.

The event was held Friday.

“Red Tails,” which opens this Friday, tells the story of the Tuskegee Airmen, the first black aviators to serve in the U.S. military. The George Lucas film stars Cuba Gooding Jr., Terrence Howard, Tristan Wilds, Nate Parker and Atlanta R&B star Ne-Yo.

The Atlanta Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen hosted an advance screening in Morrow last week. I attended and met several of the veterans. It was such an honor. Here’s the blog post about that event.

So how is this different from that fine movie “The Tuskegee Airmen” made in 95? Did you see it as well Jennifer?

It was great. Starred Lawrence Fishburne. I was wondering how (or even if) this one paralleled the other one. Lucas isn’t exactly honest when it comes to recounting History. But there are so many facets of that story to tell. I’m assuming the “Redtails” just focuses on the guys who flew the p-51’s in the later part of the war as they were the ones who painted their tails red.

Can’t wait to see it though.

Sorry Bob, but the country won’t be fixed until Republicans actually do more than throw tantrums and say, “No” to everything.

In the meantime, enjoy the movie!

Nope Ellen, Democrats had the house and senate from 2007-2011 and we got the recession, high unemployment, the mortgage crisis, Obamacare which is not funded, a credit downgrade, the lowest workforce in 30 years even though people are entering the workforce. So its Democrats that actually lie and claim tantrums like they did at the MLK celebration or (black power movement) rally. Did I say it was Democrats that said nothing was wrong with the housing industry especially fannie mae and freddie mac now Frank Raines a Democrat fundraiser of Obama is under investigation again for cooking the books, lying about Fannie’s fiscal stability, and taking 100 Million dollar bonus.

Its great Obama had the tuskeegee airmen over, maybe they can show him true leadership since a relative of mine was among the greatest generation of those fighters.

@Redhead…This country was on a downward spiral before Obama took office. Some people just choose to ignore that and the fact that there never were weapons of mass destruction found. Yet, we sent our troops over there and spent hundreds of millions if not billions of dollars monthly. Take a hard look at Bush’s choices when he was in office. How did those decisions pan out? Bananas!!!

It would be nice for once if adults can have great forum discussions about solid topics without criticizing each other. Come on guys lets act like adults on these forums. Negative comments from adults only continue to explain todays youth act like they do. True leadership starts at home with parents. By the way, I think it will be a great movie for everyone to see.

My cousin Marcus T. Paulk plays David ‘Deke’ Watkins in the movie. I am glad Barack Obama and the White House took a moment to honor and recognize HISTORY.

I’m delighted to know this movie and these remaining Airmen got hosted at the White House; I’m just puzzled as to why this picture is not posted at whitehouse.gov. I look forward to seeing this movie, just as many of my Baha’i friends are; they’re already talking it up on list serves and Facebook.
