NBA player turned announcer Charles Barkley enjoyed a few moments of witty banter with fellow commentators Reggie Miller and Kevin Harlan during a break in the Atlanta Hawks-Miami Heat game.
Looks like the mics were still live even through the guys were off the air, and someone managed to post a clip on YouTube. The website The Grio posted it as well. Here’s the link.
“I can’t stand to watch this Atlanta Hawks team play,” Barkley says during the clip. “They got nothing but a bunch of nice guys.”
The article posted on The Grio makes some hay out of Barkley saying “Weight Watchers is a scam,” but it’s clear that Barkley is not calling Weight Watchers a scam. Rather, he seems to be marveling that he gets paid to improve his health, and clearly indicates that the program is successful.
“I’m feeling much better,” he says, noting he’s lost 38 pounds on the program and never misses a weigh-in.
“I thought this was the greatest scam going – getting paid to watch sports. This Weight Watchers thing is a bigger scam,” Barkley says with a chuckle.
If anything, that sounds like an endorsement of Weight Watchers. One Barkley didn’t get paid for.
