Billy Crystal film needs extras, Justin Bieber back in town, Denzel Washington sighting

Tis the season for condensed blog posts.

Here’s what I’ve got.

The Billy Crystal-Bette Midler film “Parental Guidance” needs a bunch of extras this Friday, for a country club scene up in Roswell. Email artieextrasatl@gmail.com with your name, contact information and dimensions if you want in. They’re looking for golfers, party goers, etc. The kind of people who hang out at golf clubs.

Sometimes Atlantan Justin Bieber is back in town. “Glad to be back spending time in ATL with friends,” he tweeted earlier this evening. “This city is my 2nd home.” We’ll let you know where he shows up, after the fact. Atlanta is pretty good about letting him enjoy a little peace and quiet.

And, Denzel Washington, who’s here filming “Flight,” showed up at Whiskey Blue on Friday night. That’s the bar at the Buckhead W hotel. He kept a low profile, just sitting with some friends and sipping red wine.

OK, that’s it for now. Back to wrapping presents!

Marisa Tomei, in Atlanta filming “Parental Guidance,” celebrated a birthday Sunday with brunch at 4th and Swift. She is 47.

Tomei, who appeared most recently as a reporter in the superb film “Ides of March,” also has been spotted at the Virginia-Highland Atkins Park, Parish and Souper Jenny.

“Parental Guidance” also stars Billy Crystal and Bette Midler. Bailee Madison, 12, stars as one of Bette and Billy’s grandchildren in the film. She’s making the most of her time in Atlanta, too.

On Sunday, Bailee raised more than $1,000 selling lemonade at the Four Seasons hotel in Midtown to benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand, a childhood cancer research fund started by a little girl named Alex Scott, who was diagnosed with cancer at 4 and sadly is survived by the cause she started.

Keyboard and vocal artist Tori Amos, right, in town for this week’s performance at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, was spotted Sunday evening at the Buckhead location of Morton’s The Steakhouse. Coincidentally, actor Don Cheadle was spotted there later in the week. Popular spot!

Spike Lee caught up with his friend Kim Wayans in the Living Room at the Midtown W hotel while she was in town promoting her latest film, “Pariah.”

Westminster Schools alum Ed Helms of “The Office” and “Hangover” fame was back at his alma mater for a private talk and reception for the Westminster community recently, and veteran actor Gene Wilder visited the first graders in Kristin Ahler’s classroom at Holy Innocents Episcopal School the other day.

The star of “Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory” and “Young Frankenstein,” Wilder endured a grilling inquisition from the bright young scholars, who wanted to know about his acting career and the candy on …

Watch for SCAD and GGC on the small screen Friday night

GOYL_950x422Early this fall, a television movie project visited SCAD-Atlanta and Georgia Gwinnett College to film some scenes.

Known during projection by its working title “Gamers,” the television movie is now billed as “Game of Your Life,” and stars Titus Makin Jr. of “Glee” fame as a young computer whiz. It also stars actress Lea Thompson, known for her roles in the movie “Back to the Future” and sitcom “Caroline in the City.”

You can watch it on WXIA at 8 Friday night.

If you tune in, keep your eyes peeled for SCAD students and interactive design and game development professor David Spencer, who may appear in some frames, essentially playing themselves.

The project also filmed at Georgia Gwinnett College.

“GGC was a great location to film this movie because it embraces all of the qualities of a high-end scholastic environment in an idyllic setting,” David Rosemont, executive producer of HCP Productions II, told us in an email.

The school told us in an email …
