T.I. will be in downtown Atlanta this New Year’s Eve. The rapper and actor will host a bash at the 200 Peachtree events facility.
Tickets start at $30 for general admission to $2,500 for a VIP table.
Presented by Grey Goose Vodka, the event is scheduled to last from 9 p.m. New Year’s Eve to 3 a.m. New Year’s Day.
The Grammy-winning artist said on his blog that he intends to drop a mixtape at midnight. The title, alas, is not suitable for a family newspaper. Here is the link if you’d like to know more.
T.I., known in legal circles as Clifford Harris, was released from a halfway house at the end of September. He had been in federal custody since an arrest in September 2010 in Los Angeles on drug charges. He was sentenced to 11 months for violating terms of a previous supervised released after being convicted of federal firearms charges.
He told MTV following his release that his time in custody would inspire new work:
“My life inspires my lyrics at all times, so at that moment in time, when I first came home, I have about 15 songs just totally focusing on that,” T.I. said. “Out of those 15, I probably picked the two or three most significant, most compelling, impactful ones, and after I’ve been out for a minute, then I’ve got records totally focusing on speaking to people who can only focus on that and telling them I’m ready to move on.”

Atlanta is filled with many fascinating and well educated people. Why waste our time with the crazy antics of a drug lord?

Some of you are killing me. Anybody who defends the lyrics of TI as music is not very bright. Too many young black males are terrorizing our community, but when a “lifestyle” such as this (below) is celebrated, go figure:
Verse 1] of just ONE TI song:
Now do it to the maximum, take it why you askin’ em
Don’t listen to them suckas when they say you too irrational
See, I said I’m a “King” and them lames started laughin’ and
Same suckers now want the King on a track with ‘em
I composed several classicals, you know like “Top Back”
“Dope Boy”, “Bring ‘Em Out”, and “What You Know” about that
Now they ask how I talk, what you know about that?
Dominated ‘06, now I’m goin’ right back
See me reign hell, at a show just like that
Even Denzel say, “Damn, I ain’t know it like that”
Nig#a yeah, still Bankhead, you can tell
Ain’t nothin’ changed but the name on the mail
I still kick in doors with them thangs in the air
Up in Benihana’s, see me slang in the chair
will slang ‘caine, no such thing as a jail
Say you need a hundred squares? It just came off the scale
…an entire song about drug dealing in a club. That is worth defending right???

We’ll be there having a great time. Sure T.I. knows how to throw a party — and if there’s any silliness, it’ll be an instigator trying to make trouble for T.I.; it won’t be his fault. Hope the news media won’t be there trying to get their party on. We’ve got to support T.I.; thanks for staying here in Atlanta, man.

Will sombody please sit Mr. Harris down and explain to him that the U.S. Probation Service does not give flying fig about his celebrity status nor his money. One simple violation of his conditions of supervised release will send him back to the big house. Associating with known felons – there is bound to be several there – is a violation. Use of alcohol and drugs – that will happen – is a violation. God for bid if violence breaks out. One year of supervised release is all he has. After that he can run wild. Why let your ego cause you to lose your freedom?
