The holidays are upon us. Need a drink? Of course you do.
Here’s a fun roundup of seasonal sips and celebration libations.
Shula’s 347 Grill has a number of special holiday cocktails on its bar menu through the end of the year.
With names like Holly Jolly (gin, vodka and peppermint schnapps garnished with mint leaves) or The Grinch (vodka, peppermint schnapps and dark creme de cacao, with a cute candy candy as a stirrer) each is sure to make your holidays merry and bright. They’re $7 each.
Morton’s The Steakhouse is serving a sparkling cinnamon apple cocktail (Prosecco, Lindemans Pomme Green Apple Lambic and whipped cream) at its Buckhead and downtown locations through the end of the year. They’re $14.
The Family Dog is hosting a Dec. 15 cocktail hour for charity. Bring a winter coat to be donated to the Atlanta Day Shelter and pay just $5 each for seasonal drinks including The Olympic (VSOP cognac, orange juice, Creole Shrubb, orange bitters); the Winter Cocktail (spiced rum, lemon, ginger liquor and allspice dram); or the Holiday Punch (Genever, allspice dram, semon, sugar, bitters and bubbly).
The ice rink is back at the Park Tavern, through Valentine’s Day. To celebrate the tavern has introduced a number of bar menu specials to warm you up apres skate. Specialty sips include the Tavern Toddy (Woodford Reserve and a brown sugar simple syrup), for $7; or the Salted Caramel (Wave whipped cream vodka, Irishman’s cream liqueur, coffee, a whipped cream caramel drizzle and sprinkle of sea salt) for $7.
We’d be partial to the Apple Pie a la Mode (Wave whipped cream vodka, hot apple cider, whipped cream and a cinnamon sprinkle), for $8. It’s shown here at the right, with the cute Christmas tree in the background.
Park 75 in the Four Seasons is running a “Bubbles and Caviar” special from 5 to 7 p.m. nightly through December. The fabulous feast includes affordable luxuries such as a $3 caviar pizzettas or an $8 glass of Poema Cava. (Or an $18 glass of Taittinger Brut if you’ve been really good this year).
The bar at the St. Regis Atlanta is celebrating big-time with its 12 Days of Christmas cocktail menu, a roster of delights in the $12-$15 range including adorably named Champenguin (Veuve Clicquot Champagne, Combier Liqueur D’Orange and St. Germaine) or the Candy Cane Cocktail (Hangar One raspberry vodka, white crème de menthe, pomegranate juice). If holiday madness has gotten the best of you, it might be time to unwind with the Ultimat Holiday Stress Reliever, featuring Ultimat vodka, Malibu rum, peach schnapps, OJ, pineapple and a grenadine floater. We’ll take two, please.
And Lumen, the bar at the downtown Ritz-Carlton, will have visions of sugarplums dancing through your head with executive chef Andy Litherland’s “Yummy Plummy” holiday menu. The plum-tacular delicacies include a baked camembert en croute with winter spiced plum preserves ($12); and a sweet plum sampler (shown below) featuring glitter plum cookies, eggnog caramel popcorn with salty chocó pecans, plum Linzer cookies, chocolate plum pops and nutty plum biscotti, ($9). Pair them with the Sugar Plum cocktail (acai blueberry vodka, Chambord and a splash of cranberry, pomegranate and plum juices) or The Naughty Toddy (Michter’s Small Batch Bourbon, hot orange spice and cinnamon and garnished with bourbon sugar cubes). Each is $12.
The hotel’s decor mimics the delectable holiday menu, and the sumptuous settees in Lumen, which also happen to be plum-colored, are the perfect place to sit and make your list and check it twice this holiday season.
