Alec Baldwin tweets he was “reamed out” by American flight attendant

Alec Baldwin, who once entertained viewers off the air when audio of him screaming at his kid on the phone went viral on YouTube, apparently does not like it when others fuss at him.

“Flight attendant on American (Airlines) reamed me out for playing WORDS W FRIENDS while we sat at the gate, not moving,” the actor, who stars on NBC’s “30 Rock” tweeted at about 5 p.m. Tuesday. For added impact he signed off with the hashtag, #nowonderamericaairisbankrupt.

American’s parent company just filed for bankruptcy protection. Here’s a link to a story explaining the airline’s financial plight.

Baldwin’s tweets indicated that he was bounced from the one flight but boarded another. “Now, as I was kicked off this flight, the word I was playing was UNITED,” he posted, followed by, “My words with friends user name is now #theresalwaysunited.”

Baldwin, who said he finds the mobile app where people play a Scrabble-like game with friends “addicting,”  tweeted about half an hour after his initial post that he was on an American flight. Then he added, “Last flight with American. Where retired Catholic school gym teachers from the 1950’s find jobs as flight attendants.”

(Is that more offensive to American Airlines, Catholics or gym teachers?)

American Airlines maintains a robust Twitter presence, constantly responding to their customers. In keeping with that practice, their folks leapt into action via Twitter soon after Baldwin started carping about it. “Mr. Baldwin, we are looking into this. Please DM us contact information,” the airline’s official account tweeted about 15 minutes after Baldwin first posted about the matter.

Contacted by the AP, the airline declined to comment.

Alec Baldwin is one angry dude. Just ask his very much abused daughter. That’s documented child abuse. Baldwin should either be behind bars, or permanently assigned to 8 hours of Anger Management Couselling each and every day. How Turner Classic Movies permits this criminal to be on their channel? The only explanation is that Alec Baldwin has the goods on Ted Turner, and has threatened and bribed his way to that show.

I actually appreciate it when celebrities talk about lousy service. It draws attention to poor customer service in a way that non-celebrities are rarely able to do.

Also, I assume that those of you who refer to his tirade at his daughter–which was terrible–have never yelled at your progeny. If you have, then Jesus of Nazareth has something to say about it… something about letting those without sin cast the first stone.

The airline has no choice in this matter. It is not an AA rule. It is a Federal regulation. If AB is not happy he needs to consult his bud BO and get the regulation changed. The reason that the knuckleheads are tossed is because they refuse to follow a flight attendants instructions. In the event of a real emergency this demonstrated behavior could result in injury to others.

Baldwin is like so many actors before him. He believes his own press. The fact that he “stars” in a mediocre TV show makes him think he’s special in some way. Another case of ego exceeding talent…

I’m not defending Baldwin, but I fly a lot and some flight attendants have an EXTREMELY quick trigger when it comes to shutting you down on electronics. As in no discernible pause between asking nicely and demanding you do so and REALLY getting on you about it. I understand their frustration–they ask us to do it, and many take their sweet time (I always comply quickly).

Maybe what flight attendants need is a more formal series of verbal commands, such as: we’re in the yellow zone now, you should be powering off! And: we’re in the red zone now, so if I catch you with your device on, you may be asked to board another flight….

After that, go ahead and be merciless. Because there should be no special treatment for everyone who thinks their Words with Friends game is more important than anyone else’s.

From the New York Daily Post, which we’ll trust far before Jennifer Brett, who has portrayed Alec Baldwin as a victim, and seems to indicate that American Airlines was in the wrong:

Passenger Steve Weiss, who was sitting across the isle [sic] from Baldwin, described the scene.

“Apparently he said he was playing a game, but he was actually talking on the phone. She [the flight attendant] was very nice. The door was closed they just announced that they were pulling away from the gate. He got up threw his papers on the floor stormed into the bathroom slammed the door closed, beat on the wall and then came back.”

“He said ‘If you want to kick me off, kick me off.’ He was just crazy, he just flipped out, the guy has problems.”

A crew member who dealt with the hotheaded Hollywood actor said he couldn’t stay on the flight.

“He was violent, abusive and aggressive. He got into the bathroom and started beating on the wall and he pounded his fists on the galley counter. Yelling, screaming, very ugly. It was unsafe to keep him on board that’s why he got kicked out.”

The crew member did not want to give her name, but said she asked him five times to get off his phone.

“He was asked five times. I contacted the captain. We were brought back in and he was let off the plane.”

Could Jennifer Brett please get this story right? Can the AJC report this story accurately? Or do we need to again access another source so that we can get a REAL picture of the story because of the AJC’s terrible liberal bias?
