Tyler Perry defends casting Kim Kardashian

Tyler Perry had no idea Kim Kardashian would cause him so much grief.
“I could not have imagined I’d be getting all these emails about Kim Kardashian,” he said in a letter to fans posted on his web site. “Now, may I say something? Can a brother get a word in?….LOL. Y’all gave me a new movie title: Tyler Perry’s ‘Diary of a Mad Black Woman Cause You Hired Kim Kardashian, Don’t Make Me Take Off My Earrings and Boycott Yo A**.’ ”
Kidding aside, he explains the movie thusly:
“This movie is about a young lady named Judith (Jurnee Smolett), who grew up in the countryside of Virginia in a trailer park. She was raised in the church by her mother Sarah (Ella Joyce). Judith married her childhood sweetheart Brice (Lance Gross) and had the perfect life until she graduated college and went to work in the big city. After college, all she wanted to do was be a marriage counselor, but the only job she could find was working for a matchmaker named Janice (Vanessa Williams). Janice has several employees that work for her, including a woman named Ava (Kim Kardashian). Ava is constantly trying to influence Judith on everything from her shoes to her hair.”
Kardashian fatigue seems to be setting in.
And so on. Perry’s movies do well at the box office but he may have a challenge convincing people to spend money to see (more of) Kardashian. This online “Boycott Kim Kardashian” petition has more than 100,000 virtual signatures.
But Perry defends his decision to cast her.
“What better person! She literally has millions of young people following her. I thought and still do think, that it would be very responsible of her to be a part of this film. To have the young people that look up to her, see her in a film that is about, what happens in life when you make the wrong choices. Why wouldn’t Kim Kardashian be invited into a film about Faith, Forgiveness and the healing power of God? What is wrong with that?”

Yes, we the people can grow up and not buy any magazines or tabloids that feature Kim K. When Kim comes on Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood and TMZ, we the people can press the mute button on our remote controls or change the channel. For all the hype about how God would be in her life while this movie is being made, truth be told she(Kim) would only be in the moment. Tyler may be many things in the film world (actor, director, etc.) but he ain’t no minister. The movie will have a short run in the cinemas like “The Help” and wind up in Wal-Mart a month later. It’s going to be interesting to see how many bootleg versions of the movie turn up. The sellers probably won’t be able to give the thing away.

I think that a person personal life should never have a effect on their acting life. People is making a big deal out of nothing. There is so many people that marries and then gets a divorce, but just because who she is, people thinks she suppose to be perfect. There was only one (1) perfect person and he was crucified. Everybody needs to leave her alone and just enjoy the movie just as you do and did all of Tyler’s other ones.

The fact that he says he did this for the young people makes it worst. Yes the young people look up to her and that’s the scary part. When my Niece posted a half naked picture on Facebook last year, I told her you don’t want to take pictures like that, people keep them and hold them against you for a long time. And her reply was “Good than I can be famous like Kim Kardashian” . The sad part is I here kids say that all the time. It would be the same reaction if he were to cast Super Head.
If Kim Kardashian were playing a roll in a Will Ferrell movie, Soul Plane or the one Movie where they go to Vegas and get drunk. I would not have a problem with it. But to put her in a movie that is based of religion and morals is what sickens me and it’s not like she is trying to change her life style, she is continuously capitalizing off of being promiscuous, she has not one time shown any sign or words of regret or sorrow.

I am not a big TP fan. I have seen some of his movies and stage plays. Truth be told, the stage plays are waaaaaaaaaayy better than his movies. When I realized his movies were targeted toward women (and gay men) I stopped watching. What ya’ll can’t seem to see is that the biggest critics of TP films have been men. Especially since he was “out-ed” on Episode 8 from Season 3 of the cartoon “The Boondocks.” He is only casting KK to cover up the previous stated fact of who his “core” audience is and to try to give men a reason to not mind being dragged to see his movies with their women. More and more men are refusing to see his movies other wise. And I also agree with other posters who said that he is trying to capitilize on all the recent publicity of KK to also bring attention to his movie. Like the old saying in Hollywood goes, “The only BAD press, is NO press!!!!!!”

I certainly don’t believe that Mr. Perry has to explain his cast selection to anyone. People are just looking for a reason to dislike her because they don’t like HER choices in HER life. The fact that she has money from other ventures makes her a smart business women; it doesn’t mean she need has to stop seeking other career paths. Nobody tells Halle Berry, Brad Pitt, or hell even Snooki to stop making movies because you’ve already got millions. What black women do not realize is that black men do not get into the color thing when they seek a mate. Men just care if a woman treats him well and is a lady in the streets and a freak in the sheets- to quote Ludacris. There are exceptions of course- black men who believe that whites owe them something and black men who believe that only a sister will do. (More power to the latter)
However, black women’s social/romantic bankruptcy is coming to a head, and this lashing out against Kim Kardashian is a symptom of it. But black women need to get real. Cut out that loud brawling, rattle snake persona. Watch what you eat and get some exercise and some meditation to help you chill out and recognize the beauty of this earth. Quit subscribing to the notion that you are a no body if you are not half naked, partially naked, semi naked, fractionally naked, or naked and cranked over at the knees with your backside to the streets.
Recognize you inner and natural beauty and let go all that trashy weave that idiot men are busting into people’s places to rob and bring to you. Tattoo in taste and moderation. If you are really dark skinned leave the tattoo alone. Reject those dingy sweats and the rice bag spandex for something that plays up what is sexy and attractive about you- believe me you have something that is unique to you. It is you who need to understand how to work it and work it.
Reject males who rob and steal, and have their pants slinging off their rear. Reject males who sell drugs for a living. Reject the view that it is about your car price/model, your hand bag model/price, your cell phone model/price, your apartment model/price. Those things only enhance your appearance and image if you are sincere, secure in who you are and if you can speak to people effectively, listen effectively, and conduct yourself yo inspire people and seduce their respect. the time to raise your intelligence level. Driving a Lexus to get cash off your EBT card does not get you anywhere, and it makes you attractive to pimps, goons, and low life males who recognize that you are just fronting.
