Star sightings: Denzel Washington, Marisa Tomei, Vince Vaughn

Vince Vaughn, center, with his new BFFs at Kyma

Happy Tuesday. Here’s what I know.

Denzel Washington’s movie “Flight” was filming at the St. Regis in Buckhead on Monday.

Marisa Tomei, in town filming “Parental Guidance,” was spotted treasure hunting at the Scott Antiques Market over the weekend. She’s been seen at Souper Jenny a few times, too.

You know who else likes that place? Jason Bateman and Jessica Seinfeld. Random, I know. But they have both frequented Souper Jenny’s when in Atlanta for filming or appearances.

A tipster spotted Kim Zolciak in the gym of the Mansion on Peachtree during her wedding weekend. By the way here’s a link to a photo of the bride and groom, Kroy Biermann.

And Vince Vaughn, in town for “Neighborhood Watch,” has taken a real shine to Kyma.

He’s been in a couple of times now, each time with a group of friends or business associates.

Vince is vegan now so chef de cuisine Eric Cutillo and executive chef Pano Karatassos created a six-course vegan meal for him, featuring candied figs and banana sorbet for dessert.

There’s Vaughn with general manager Nicholas Sousounis, on his left, and Karatassos on his right. Oh and you know who else has enjoyed Kyma while in Atlanta? Owen Wilson and Bill Cosby. Wilson was so taken with a cocktail served at Kyma that he inquired about the recipe when he was here filming “Hall Pass.” Cosby so loved Kyma’s Greek potatoes and lamb chops that after he returned home from a visit to Atlanta, he got Karatassos on the phone with his personal chef to go over the recipe.

Again, random, I know. But hey, this is the celebrity blog.

Kim Zoliak is NOT a celebrity. Reality TV peeps are talentless “attention hos”
People who watch the shows are the mindless fools the TV networks laugh at & get rich off of.

Jersey Shore, Kardashian junk, Paris Hilton, Anything Tori Spelling, etc, etc. Quit being stupid folks, do something good for YOURself.
And, could someone just put that Kate lady out of society’s misery……

“She’s been senn at Souper Jenny a few times, too.” Please proof read and correct. Thanks

@Anderson

Obviously, Anderson needs to go back to school to become literate in English. The spelling in the sentence that Anderson mentions is correct. It is seen not senn.

Again you grace us with your literary articulation. Your columns are so enlightening, and when in print in the newspaper, it makes for such wonderful fish wrapper. Keep up the intriguing and so informative work….

I have given up wondering why people pull up the celebrity blog then complain it’s about celebrities. About like going to Hartsfield and complaining about all the airplanes.

OK….You don’t get it. People are not complaining about celebrities, they are ragging on you and this inane blog. As Mr Sagan pointed out, it is a waste of band width.

Kind of sad people have such a hard on for the nearly pointless discourse in this blog.

You don’t like the comments? Then shut them down. Better yet, spend more time discussing more tangible topics. With Thanksgiving around the corner, what are you doing to help the less fortunate?

Carla and Let’s Get Real-ist,

Thanks for the assist!

BTW I highly recommend the AJC’s obits. My colleague, the phenomenally talented Michelle Shaw, writes the news obits each day. She does a fantastic job telling wonderful stories about a wide cross section of people who have lived in Atlanta. I have filled in doing obits a few times over the years and always felt it was an honor to tell the story of a person’s life.

I find it interesting to know where celebrities eat when they are in town. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t click on the link, read the article and then take the time to comment on how lame it is. I don’t understand why you people are so mean spirited. If it’s not your cup of tea, MOVE ON!

Jack Nasty, I’m with you. I think it’s kind-of interesting. The only beef I have with the blog is the inclusion of Kim Zolciak. Seeing her name amidst true thespians or at least folks who have suceeded in a real craft (versus being famous for???) was kind-of jarring to me. Her name did not belong.

Purple Drank:
First, nothing Jennifer said was condescending. Do you know the meaning of that word?
Secondly, you didn’t address the question she posed. Why read something you hate? I don’t care about sports, so you know what I do? Just don’t read the sports page. Pretty simple, really.

I’m with you. You really have to wonder about some people. Do they walk into libraries and complain about all the books or what? Actually it’s more like walking into the section of the library you’re least interested in and then complaining about that, instead of finding the section that does interest you.

Oh well.

Kim Zoliak is not anything special. Pretty much a money chasing nobody who is famous for being crazy. Noone -> local reality star -> no longer star -> divorced -> lesbian -> out of money -> has baby with no husband -> marries so-so football guy who will be cut in 2 years.

Dear No Name:

Ha! I give up. My job is indeed to write blogs. I don’t have subpoena power to force people to read them though. I don’t get anyone would spend their time reading a blog that didn’t interest them and then repeatedly commenting on it. If you saw a TV show and didn’t like it, you’d just change the channel right?

Ah well.

I’m in shock over some of what you people write. What a waste to even read. I think some of you fancy yourself “bloggers” and that everybody wants to read YOUR blog response no matter what. I like to read about who’s going where to eat, whatever – even Kim K. She is a bit of a celebrity – like it or not. This is Atlanta – HotLanta, not some rinky dink little city. Granted, not NYC but I appreciate the column. Atlanta is happenin!

Sadly, Jennifer is just doing her job and what she was (more than likely) asked to write about: celebrity sightings. If you have time to sit around all day and to pick apart someone’s (God forbid!) typo mistake, then you too may have time to actually get a job. And maybe, next time you decide to comment on a blog, think twice about who wrote it. Maybe Jennifer had a bad day or is going through something. But she is doing her job, just like a teacher teaches kids, and a news anchor reports the news. She is merely doing her job. Reporting celeb sightings. Use some self control in the future, and not comment if you don’t like the topic. In fact, go a little further and don’t even click the link to see what she wrote. Regardless of content, she is not the first writer to make a typo, and certainly not the last. Frankly, it could have been much much much worse.

And if you rather read different articles, find that article and read it. Or, (gasp!) WRITE YOUR OWN.

Seriously, there are a gazillion other things to read on the internet, and certainly nobody is forcing you to read Jennifer’s column. There is no possible way that anyone that’s gainfully employed has the time and/or motivation to a) read the content, b) take the time to write jackass comments. What’s the point? She’s obviously not curing cancer, or saving the world, but that’s not the purpose of the blog.

But agreed, Kim Zolciak is not famous, and I really don’t think anyone cares what the hell she’s doing, or where she’s doing it. She doesn’t fit in with the other names, and is not worth mentioning.

Thanks Jessica and JKA.

We get daily traffic reports. This individual blog post was #3 on AJC.com yesterday and the blog overall was #3 as well. (#1 and #2 were sports blogs, no surprise there, and my colleague Rodney Ho’s TV blog).

For the year, the Buzz blog is #9 on AJC.com at the moment, with about 3.6 million PVs. That’s why I just sort of chuckle when people post comments complaining that the celebrity blog is about celebrities. I have empirical evidence illustrating that content many people are interested in. That’s why I do what I do!

Probably more than you wanted to know,
