Tyler Perry fans want Kim Kardashian banned from “Marriage Counselor”

Kim Kardashian has arrived in Atlanta to film scenes for Tyler Perry’s upcoming movie, “The Marriage Counselor.”
Some of Perry’s fans want the reality show personality off the project.
A number of comments from Perry’s website demonstrate some folks’ desire to see Kardashian, who just filed for divorced 72 days after her made-for-TV wedding, gone.
“Kim Kardashian in your movie? Why have you stooped this low?” one person posted.
Wrote another: “I believe it is against your better judgment to have Kim Kardashian star as a supporting actress in your upcoming movie. You still have a moral responsibility to your supporters to maintain a level (of) integrity when (it) comes to casting your movies. I have to boycott this film if Kim Kardashian is part of this project.”
And another: “Mr. Perry when I first heard that you had select Kim to star in a role in one of your movies I dismissed it as typo. I’m not sure what you expect her to bring to your set.”
Other posters sounded more supportive, or at least less outraged. One sounded resolved yet irritated: “Well Tyler, since you are going ahead and keep Kim Kardashian in your new movie in spite of how your fans feel (that) tells it all. You’re beginning to sound arrogant. I felt so proud of how hard you work and how connected you are to your fan base. I don’t see it as your fans telling you what to do and feel like we can because of our undying support, but dang TP, Kardashian does not fit.”
We’re told Kardashian arrived in Atlanta Tuesday afternoon on a Delta flight. Her role in “The Marriage Counselor” is a supporting one, as the pal of of the main character. We’re told she will be filming a party scene to be shot in a loft apartment somewhere in town. The scene also will feature Vanessa Williams, we’re told.
The movie got cranking earlier this month and has filmed scenes at Charlie Brown airport, a Midtown condo and the Virginia-Highland area. We’re not sure where it moves next but once it sets up shop the lure of a Kardashian sighting will no doubt lure a phalanx of cameras.
Kardashian’s often busy Twitter feed has been fairly quiet lately. She did post a “message to fans” the other day explaining that she married for love but just couldn’t make things work with soon to be ex-husband Kris Humphries.
We’re told Kardashian is staying OTP but may plan to hit the town while she is here. Last month she posted this birthday greeting to R&B star Ciara: “I love you and hope you have the best birthday ever!!! We need to celebrate when I come to ATL!”

I believe in Tyler and he knows what’s best for his movies. I also think this is the first time his fan base is speakings out against a character in his movie. I think he should really think about this. I think portraying Kim on the screen may cauuse negative emotions.

I should also like to add true fans will stick by the director. I dont’ think Kim should be tossed out on her head. Perhaps there will be a line in the script that will touch her heart and make her want to make it work with Kris. I say keep her in the movie. It’s not the Christian thing to do to toss her out like that.

I find it ironic that Kardashian is in a movie called The Marriage Counselor and is filing for a divorce. Personally I do not respect anything that she does and have heard more negative than positive about her. She really needs help spiritually. I’m not boycotting TP because I’m black or because of her race, I’m boycotting this film because of her character. She has too many issues and has no stability whatsoever. TP I can only hope that there is a sound reason for choosing her for this film other than her being the “it” girl based off her 15 minutes of fame that will soon be short lived. Because if selection is based off that type of fame, then what next? Will you have repeated “jailbirds”?

I think its mostly just black women who have a problem with this, as they’re Tyler’s targeted demographic.
I think they are insecure to see Kim, a rich big booty woman, on the big screen that will only make her curves pop out even more. They probably are worried about the thoughts of their husbands/boyfriends ( who are only there cause they nagged them to go) after seeing her sexy body that they will no longer be attracted to them any longer….LOL…Just my opinion.

I think TP casting her is more of a business decision than anything. If she can bring free publicity and bring in the curious, then he has accomplished his goal. Other than being famous for being famous, she has no talent whatsoever. She’s definitely had a nose job and probably other augmentations but it her body and she can alter it as she sees fit. I have more important things to worry about.

I too was disappointed in Tyler Perry for choosing Kim Kardashian for his movie. This was before all this wedding/divorce baloney … I just think the media has bombarded us with The Kardashians, somehow insisting through the constant barrage of “news” about them, (Kim in particular), that they are important and meaningful. What is important and meaningful about them? And Kim’s butt is a sad claim to fame ..I mean if that’s all she’s known for and I’ve never heard anything else about why she’s famous. For those of you saying TP plays off stereotypes, you obviously haven’t seen all of his movies. I have and I can assure you that is far from true. He has put out some great movies. While I am not a huge fan of everything he’s produced, he’s definitely had some winners in my book.

She seems like a really nice young lady. It seems to me that the backlash comes from the fact that her mother took a very scandalous event and turned them into “a brand” that resulted from them becoming very wealthy. I’m not mad at her for that. As for her short lived marriage, we don’t know what happened. Something had to make her run quickly. Perhaps it was verbal or physical abuse, we don’t know. As for the movie, I am very curious as to why Tyler chose her.

We are suppose to be the most charming people in the world and yet, people wish to be plain ol’ mean about Kim being in a movie that Tyler Perry has chosen her to be in. When she is in the South, people could in the least remember none of us have walked in her shoes one day. Living in the bible belt I would assume Southerners could remember that the Bible says not to cast stones. As a Southerner and a woman that has had to make many personal choices with marriage that others did not always agree with, I only wish the best for all those humans involved. I am proud Tyler Perry chooses the work he does that brings fabulous attention to this fine area of the country. Especially in times when the rest of the world is falling apart so greatly. Its a known fact that people hate on success, especially here in America and when the other person is not doing so well. This woman gets $100,000 just for showing here face in a club for 30 mins! I mean come on!

It’s unfortunate that a person that had a famous father, but only became famous for going down on some guy, getting naked, and spreading her legs on a “leaked” sex tape has become what she has today. It’s pathetic that Hollywood and other celebrities play to this and hold her in a high regard. She is a joke, and the only reason she has maintained her stay in the spotlight is because her momma sweeps everything under the rug and keeps her clean. She obviously can’t make her own decisions as she is now twice a divorcee. Is this what we want our kids to turn out like, or turn into? I think having a movie calling Marriage Counselor starring a woman that divorced a guy after 72 days is pathetic and continues feeding her pathetic fan base and all the kids that want to be her, for whatever reason that is.

Why is is no one complains when Tyler casts (which is most of the time) all the actors that main stream Hollywood refused to cast in his movies? I’m a Tyler Perry fan, and I think that Kim is a beautiful young woman; therefore, it is clear that I am not biased. As an African American woman, I don’t think that it is a good look for her to be in a Tyler Perry movie. I think that he may be alienating his typical audience. I’ve been to a Tyler Perry play at The Fox Theater, and 99% of his audience is African Americans roughly between the ages of 25-65. Another factor in this disagreement is talent. If he wanted to appeal to a wider audience, he could have easily cast more qualified and popular white actresses. To those that seem to think there are double standards, there were quite a few black people upset about Chris Brown, who pled guilty in his domestic violence incident, being cast in Steve Harvey’s upcoming film “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man” which is supposed to focus on a man valuing his woman. I am not sure of Mr. Perry rationale behind casting Ms. Kardashian in his latest production. I have been a supporter of Mr. Perry since early 2000 and I respect him as a producer, screen-writer, and as a man. I would love to see more Black actors who are not the “right fit” in standard Hollywood movies or have been stereotyped into a particular role. Actors like Isaiah Washington, Nia Long, Jeffrey Wright, Jennifer Lewis, Angela Bassett, Lynn Whitfield, Marla Gibbs, Regina King, and Samuel L. Jackson; to name a few. The above-mentioned actors have appeared in numerous movies including in a couple of Mr. Perry’s movies, in supporting roles but not as the lead. Give all of those great and talented actors, an opportunity to bring a good script to life.

What I have a problem with is this, our young people watch this crap on tv and are trying to recreate that drama in their real lives. What our youth don’t realize is that these people are PAID for their drama. What is our youth getting out of reenactting this foolishness in their lives? Nothing but a lot of heartache in the end that they won’t be able to undo. In the meantime, these so called reality stars have made a buck will be gone on with their lives. What does this woman’s personal life have to do with anything? Tyler might have auditioned Kim and he felt comfortable that she could get by. I’ll give him credit. It’s a great marketing ploy to draw in people would not normally attend his movies. He knows his numbers drop when Medea is not the featured character. Why is everyone surprised by Mr. Perry’s actions. Have we all forgotten that Perry, although a talented marketing person is a horrible writer/director. He is an expert at marketing and placating his audience. Listen to the words he uses to draw in his audiences in many interviews, “I used this as bait” According to Webster’s definition, Bait is defined: to persecute or exasperate with unjust, malicious, or persistent attacks: tease. In other words”bait” implies that it is used to catch something too dumb to figure out it’s being capture to later be destroyed. i.e. fish, mice, Tyler Perry audiences. We are paying him to insult, demean, defame, humiliate, castrate, and degenerate, not only the characters in his film, but also the talented actors who have worked hard to build their brands, and the audience who views his work. With all that money that he receives from us, I’m praying that he’ll allow someone to assist him in creating something more than a polished turd.

This is not looking good for TP. I am a supporter, but agree, I will not support this movie. Heck, I already own a dvd of the play. Don’t need to see it on the big screen. I just can’t see putting more money into this chick’s pocket. She wasn’t born with a gold spoon. We know of the dad because of OJ. We knew nothing of any of the rest of the family until after the dad died and Kim released her dvd with Ray J. It’s sad that the other actors in the movie are going to lose out simply because of her. I’ve always admired the closeness and realness TP has shared with his fans. It is unfortunate that he doesn’t accept the same from us. I don’t think any of us would ever tell him anything wrong or harmful to his career. He has made us so proud up until now. Seems he’s jumping on this bandwagon, mesmerized by the Kardashian hype. Honestly when I first read that Kim Kardashian was cast in Tyler Perry’s new movie I was shocked. I did not like the idea of her being in a movie at all–let alone a Tyler Perry movie. I’ve seen her act in one other movie (a spoof) and her acting was not good in my opinion [even for a spoof]. I don’t like it but at the same time it’s not up to us to decide who gets cast in his projects and who doesn’t. It’s not our money or our ideas. I support TP and his decision and will continue to do so unless he begins to say, do, portray or be a part of something that goes against my beliefs. I wish they would figure out they already have all the money and retire. There seems to be no way of escaping news about this clan. We need to file a class action suit for interuption of my internet service or something! Can I go to the childrens controls and “don’t allow” anything that says, Kim, Kardashian, Jenner, Kloe or whatever else they made. This is terrible.

I think it is simple. Tyler Perry has clearly made his choice in cast members. Each movie goer can decide whether or not to see this movie for whatever reason. Historically Tyler’s audience has been black church-going people. I am not sure that they even know sufficient details about Kim Kardashian to make a boycott impactful enough to affect Tyler’s revenue. In addition, any revenue that he loses from black people will probably be made up by Kim’s fans. I feel no pressure at all to go see this movie. I am a black woman. Yet I do not feel I am necessarily the intended audience for this movie.

She is a beautiful girl and that’s all she is, and just because people don’t want to see her in this movie doesn’t mean they are hating. If ever there was a case of overexposure it’s her. People have just had their fill of this chick and her family. She has pimped black men to get where she is at. But in this case, I don’t know who’s pimping who. So far it looks like Tyler, because everyone is talking about this. Doesn’t matter, I still won’t go see this movie, I haven’t seen his last 2 or 3 movies. I think i’m over Tyler. He seems less authentic then he did originally, or maybe I have matured…and when I think about it, he pimped “us” too.

Branding is very important. He is ruining his brand with her. She knows the importance of branding; that’s one of reason she dumped her husband. Tyler Perry website is screening and deleting posts concerning this subject. It’s sad to see him alienating the very base that helped him achieve the success that he has without hollywood. Further Well respected artists take their professions seriously and that separate levels of talent from everyday street walkers. Ms. KK is a high price street worker and paid well for her merchandising skills, LOL. And, if Mr. Perry wants the movie industry professionals and his fans to consider his work worthy to spend their money then he has to develop credible work with credible people. Otherwise, his own professional credits will not advance pass vaudevillian art. Spike Lee might be on point with his concerns about Tyler Perry. Real serious movie industry folks at some point advance their work to getting artists that have the credits to pull big box office recognition and pass the evaluation of art critics. That’s what the award shows are about. Mr. Perry has solely become a millionaire on the love of his fan base and not the critics. Fans have a voice because they help other people be successful. People make a choice in where they spend their money every day. Ignorant consumers don’t have a voice but smart consumers do.

The reason hate Kim is not because she has had a silver spoon since she was born. It’s because she has no talent and as fake as can be. If she wants to stick to porn, that’s fine. The reality show is a waste of time. Who the hell wants to listen to her whiny voice complaining about everything? Not me. I’d pay to see here get banged again, but enough with the acting and reality shows. If Ray-J made you famous by banging you, that should say enough. She leaked the video, she staged the wedding with me and her whole family is a bunch of whiny b’s. Including the brother I forget his name.

I refuse to boycott, I will see the movie. Dont hurt the other actors in the film for one person, then the other party wins. People you are not thinking, Kim K is still getting paid for this role regardless if you go see it or not. If you dont see it, her fans will. I have read the comments, people we still need to support TP regardless of his choice of people he places in his movies. Nobody is perfect. I am not a fan of Kim K, but in the end this is a business not personnel. I am sure that placing her in this role will allow him to reach out to other audiences. For the record “Madea” is a great character with a lot of truth. Those of us in the black community can identify one person in their family that is “Madea”. God bless. Nobody is perfect.
