Kim Kardashian has arrived in Atlanta to film scenes for Tyler Perry’s upcoming movie, “The Marriage Counselor.”
Some of Perry’s fans want the reality show personality off the project.
A number of comments from Perry’s website demonstrate some folks’ desire to see Kardashian, who just filed for divorced 72 days after her made-for-TV wedding, gone.
“Kim Kardashian in your movie? Why have you stooped this low?” one person posted.
Wrote another: “I believe it is against your better judgment to have Kim Kardashian star as a supporting actress in your upcoming movie. You still have a moral responsibility to your supporters to maintain a level (of) integrity when (it) comes to casting your movies. I have to boycott this film if Kim Kardashian is part of this project.”
And another: “Mr. Perry when I first heard that you had select Kim to star in a role in one of your movies I dismissed it as typo. I’m not sure what you expect her to bring to your set.”
Other posters sounded more supportive, or at least less outraged. One sounded resolved yet irritated: “Well Tyler, since you are going ahead and keep Kim Kardashian in your new movie in spite of how your fans feel (that) tells it all. You’re beginning to sound arrogant. I felt so proud of how hard you work and how connected you are to your fan base. I don’t see it as your fans telling you what to do and feel like we can because of our undying support, but dang TP, Kardashian does not fit.”
We’re told Kardashian arrived in Atlanta Tuesday afternoon on a Delta flight. Her role in “The Marriage Counselor” is a supporting one, as the pal of of the main character. We’re told she will be filming a party scene to be shot in a loft apartment somewhere in town. The scene also will feature Vanessa Williams, we’re told.
The movie got cranking earlier this month and has filmed scenes at Charlie Brown airport, a Midtown condo and the Virginia-Highland area. We’re not sure where it moves next but once it sets up shop the lure of a Kardashian sighting will no doubt lure a phalanx of cameras.
Kardashian’s often busy Twitter feed has been fairly quiet lately. She did post a “message to fans” the other day explaining that she married for love but just couldn’t make things work with soon to be ex-husband Kris Humphries.
We’re told Kardashian is staying OTP but may plan to hit the town while she is here. Last month she posted this birthday greeting to R&B star Ciara: “I love you and hope you have the best birthday ever!!! We need to celebrate when I come to ATL!”

We support what and who we believe in and Kim is not someone that I want my Daughters to emulate or my son to bring home. We will not spend our standard $100 at the movies on this movie. I can show you better than I can tell you.

I am white by the way so I’m not sure that I understand why some of what you wrote specifically in reply to me was directed my way. But more importantly reread my comments about K. Look for the word “vapid” & also “emptiness”, etc…& then you’ll better understand what I said.
I don’t “hate” K, rather I am disgusted & revolted by the sheer pablum & nothingness that is spewing out of our television sets today & passed off as entertainment, much of it in the format of reality shows. She is front & center the face of this tv fad of nothingness& it’s being rammed down our throats!
Can we all agree that nearly everything K does, is overkill on her part for staying in the public eye & that the media is all too complicit in falling all over her every act & utterance?

If TP were to fire KK, on what grounds would he fire her? Because she got a divorce too soon? Hello lawsuit!!!

I too, think KK is fine as hell, and I’m a huge supporter of T Perry movies………. That said, KK is NOT an actress, not even close; she’s a glorified bikini model who I’d never want my daughter to emulate.
You can do better Tyler. Even Madea wouldn’t approve of your choice in this movie. You know how to count, right? Well DON’T count on my family’s money for this movie!

I don’t like Kim because she is fake and overexposed on top that she is no actress. I love Tyler Perry but i think what a lot of people are saying is this role could have gone to another black actress instead of a a reality star. Tyler Perry is one of the few directors who keeps black actors and actresses working and I admire him for it.

I am a Christian and I think it is wrong to ban Kim from this movie. Whatever happened to “love the sinner, hate the sin” Remember Vanity (Denise Matthews) Prince’s girlfriend ? Now she is living for the Lord and preaching his word.

I like how they want her removed from the movie because she exploits blacks, but don’t see that Perry exploits black people as well.

I’m a Tyler Perry fan, and I think that Kim is a beautiful young woman; therefore, it is clear that I am not biased. As an African American woman, I don’t think that it is a good look for her to be in a Tyler Perry movie. I think that he may be alienating his typical audience. I’ve been to a Tyler Perry play at The Fox Theater, and 99% of his audience is African Americans roughly between the ages of 25-65. As well, the subject matter of his plays are issues that exist within the African American community. He is aware of his fan base but it is clear that he did not consider us in his choice. What is he trying to prove? She is a television personality, not an actress. She became famous because she made a and she is still famous for that same reason. What is she going to contribute to this film?

It doesn’t matter how rich you are,how beautiful you are on the outside,Kim is absolute trash, nasty female.
People got it all wrong, you can drive Bentley, live in a 20,000 foot house, get paid 100k per appearance and still be skank.
Tyler Perry is an intelligent undercover homosexual that exploits the insanity that runs rampant in today’s black female.
He’s cashing in on you fools that pay to see his work.
Next time your in the audience of one of his films and the lights are on and you can see the crowd, take a look and see if you can identify any intelligent asians,Latinos,Jews,or even Africans.
No chance.
He caters to idiots, people with IQ’s under 50.

I will not support this movie. Kim is not someone i will spend my hard earned money to see. The only reason she is famous is because she made a sluddy sex tape. She has enough money. Ifine someone else who has morals.

No fan of Tyler Perry’s movies, shows, etc….just not that funny to me, however, he’s a good guy and does great things for the community. Let him have his creative license. There’s bigger problems going on that need to be addressed in the black community.

He should listen to what his fans are requesting and cancel her contract. People are sick of the whole family and will not pay to see the movie. Everyone should stay as far away from the Kardashians/Jenners as they possible can. They’re a huge risk right now.

I am all for people boycotting that gutter slut, but her being in a Tyler Perry movie is the final straw? Is she really all that much worse than other people that have been in his movies that are essentially modern day blaxploitation films? Honestly, her being in it sort of fits, because if anyone understands the needs of black men, it’s Kim Kardashian.

@Free Enterprise, since you obviously aren’t black, you have no idea of what you speak. First of all, a black woman perms her hair to make it more manageable. I’ve never in my life heard a black woman say that they perm their hair so it can look more like white women. As for weaves, you may not know this, but LOTS of white women wear them. They call them extensions, but baby it’s all the same. And again, nobody is trying to look white. And for the record, I don’t have either. But believe me, I’ll rock a weave every now and then, not to look white, but to switch it up. When KK wears hers, I don’t hear you talking about that. Don’t try and speak for us black women. We are highly capable of speaking for ourselves.
I haven’t hated on KK at all. How much money she makes is of no concern to me. She’s free to ride this media ride for as long as she can. And she should too because her 15 minutes will be up. Everyone, with the exception of those with real talent, goes through this. There aren’t that many Madonnas of the world out there. And as for the black people thing, gimme a break. A few blacks don’t speak for the millions of us that exist. I’m not banning the movie, I’ll probably watch it on Netflix. Just because one black woman is angry and aggressive, doesn’t mean we all are. Stop the madness!

I support his decision to add balance in his cast and not just have a majority African American cast. I am African American. I think it is great that he is reaching out to more than just our race and expanding his market…I APPLAUD HIM!!!

Free Enterprise, just because YOU spend all your time lusting after this woman does not mean that every other black man feels the same. YOU dream about her every night and then assume that makes black women jealous of her. Because YOU want her, we’re insecure? Really? Get over yourself and the insults of everything black and female that you always bring. Love this woman all you want but stop demanding that we agree with you or else you’ll insult our intelligence. You’re really not the genius you think you are.

@ truth…because the movie is black themed. If you want to get technical there are a good white actresses as well who have bided their time and did not have to get famous from a raunchy sex tape. (Reese Witherspoon, Glen Close, Janie Lee Curtis, Kathy Bates etc.) I am entitled to my opinion just as others are entitled to theirs. Tyler’s movies are 90 % seen by African Americans and they should be cast in the leading roles……IJS.

This has nothing to do with race or double standards. This has everything to do with the fact that people are not only tired of the Kardashians, but the fact that we continue to look over there lack of morals. Another factor in this disagreement is talent. If he wanted to appeal to a wider audience, he could have easily cast more qualified and popular white actresses. Mila Kunis would have been perfect for this. Also, a few of you are bringing up race and that there are double standards. You do realize TP has had white people in his movies before, right? There was no uproar when Kathy Bates ( a qualified actress) was cast in “The Family the Preys.” The role Kim is supposed to play was played by a white woman in the play ( I don’t know why he didn’t go with her). To those that seem to think there are double standards, there were quite a few black people upset about Chris Brown, who pled guilty in his domestic violence incident, being cast in Steve Harvey’s upcoming film “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man” which is supposed to focus on a man valuing his woman. Again, this has nothing to do with race, but it has everything to do with quality and moral value, whether or not you believe Tyler Perry or his films have that at all. And for the record, those saying don’t judge and remarking nastily towards those who find it is in poor taste for Tyler Perry to cast Kim, you do realize your doing the same exact thing right, it’s just directed at those who disagree with TP’s choice in casting, right?

It’s amazing how many folks want to demolralize Kim K for something that was between her and another person; and was leaked out to the public. R. Kelly made sex tapes, Tupac and Biggie made sex tapes. A bunch of male and female so-called role models havemade sex tapes, they just haven’t been released to the public. As far the role model thing, come on. As much cramp that goes on today within the black community and WE still support, you can cancel that excuse. I mean Rhianna, Beyonce, Niki Minag, Christ Brown, TI, Wakaflacka, Jezzy, Guccimane, Soldier Boi, do I really need to go on. So you can cancel that one to.
TP is doing what he feels best for HIS movie. If you decide not to support it, it’s your right as an American to do so. And if you continue to watche HouseHoes of ATL, Basketball Witches, support fantasia and the Adulter Alicia Keys, then that’s your right as well. It’s amazing how Holier Than Thou we get about Kim K. but refuse to acknowledge the other acts within our own. But hey, Only in America! lol

What is all the fuss about! Tyler Perry has provided jobs for numerous African Americans in his films so he can afford to give ONE roll to another race and person – KK! What if all the Caucasian producers thought that way and didn’t employ any African American actors in their films -how do you think some of our best actors got their big breaks!!?? I applaud Tyler for doing what he wants – don’t go see the film and stop whining!

Tyler Perry is the Director. It’s Tyler Perry’s Studio. And I think the movie is called, “Tyler Perry’s The Wedding Counselor.” He can put Rush Limbaugh in the movie is he wants to. If you don’t like it, don’t see it. Don’t support it if you don’t want to. Don’t despise his business because you despise Kim Kardashian.

Oh people please. Kim K. seems to be a sweet girl. If she chooses to get married and then divorce that is her business. She is not the first celebrity or women for that matter to 1. have a sex video 2. pose scandalously 3. marry and divorce shortly after. I hope Tyler does not listen to the nay-Sayers. No one is perfect and that surely includes all the people who are writing these blogs.

As long as Madea is not in the movie, or has an extremely limited role, I’ll be there. He’s a business man and having her in his movie may bring a whole new group of people to the “We love everything Tyler Perry” does fan club. Get your money, man! You all hate her for filing for divorce after 72 days – it happens every day. The only difference here is that she is in the public eye. She found herself in a difficult situation, that she didn’t know how to get out of. Can you imagine how embarrassing this is for her? I applaud her for doing it now, instead of dragging it out. Maybe she’ll give someone else the courage to get out of a situation they know they don’t belong in.

I too am tired of hearing about the Kartrashians but the ones to blame are the media & people. Media for overkill on having to let us know there every move & the people for having to respond to it (myself included). I won’t be seeing this movie (but not because of Kim Kartrashian)because I believe Tyler Perry has been selling out lately to young beautiful people who wearing designer clothes & having lives that aren’t real to today’s real life. I know that he must not have traveled around much other than hollyweird, but my friends, family & coworkers don’t own anything remotely close to what his movie families have. TP come back to reality.

Is it really that damn serious people. you people are acting like she has killed someone. If alicia keys and Fantasia was in this movie their would be no outcry about this. Remember what they did was actually a sin. Kim has yet to commit that sin. she isn’t divorced yet. I’m not a a KK fan at all but she is doing what she has to do to get paid. Don’t hate this lady for being her own kind of hustler. If Tyler Perry asked you to be in this movie you wouldn’t hesitate to jump on the offer and i’m sure you have done some dumb stuff in you life. Man we really have some serious problems in this country.
