Tyler Perry fans want Kim Kardashian banned from “Marriage Counselor”

Kim Kardashian has arrived in Atlanta to film scenes for Tyler Perry’s upcoming movie, “The Marriage Counselor.”
Some of Perry’s fans want the reality show personality off the project.
A number of comments from Perry’s website demonstrate some folks’ desire to see Kardashian, who just filed for divorced 72 days after her made-for-TV wedding, gone.
“Kim Kardashian in your movie? Why have you stooped this low?” one person posted.
Wrote another: “I believe it is against your better judgment to have Kim Kardashian star as a supporting actress in your upcoming movie. You still have a moral responsibility to your supporters to maintain a level (of) integrity when (it) comes to casting your movies. I have to boycott this film if Kim Kardashian is part of this project.”
And another: “Mr. Perry when I first heard that you had select Kim to star in a role in one of your movies I dismissed it as typo. I’m not sure what you expect her to bring to your set.”
Other posters sounded more supportive, or at least less outraged. One sounded resolved yet irritated: “Well Tyler, since you are going ahead and keep Kim Kardashian in your new movie in spite of how your fans feel (that) tells it all. You’re beginning to sound arrogant. I felt so proud of how hard you work and how connected you are to your fan base. I don’t see it as your fans telling you what to do and feel like we can because of our undying support, but dang TP, Kardashian does not fit.”
We’re told Kardashian arrived in Atlanta Tuesday afternoon on a Delta flight. Her role in “The Marriage Counselor” is a supporting one, as the pal of of the main character. We’re told she will be filming a party scene to be shot in a loft apartment somewhere in town. The scene also will feature Vanessa Williams, we’re told.
The movie got cranking earlier this month and has filmed scenes at Charlie Brown airport, a Midtown condo and the Virginia-Highland area. We’re not sure where it moves next but once it sets up shop the lure of a Kardashian sighting will no doubt lure a phalanx of cameras.
Kardashian’s often busy Twitter feed has been fairly quiet lately. She did post a “message to fans” the other day explaining that she married for love but just couldn’t make things work with soon to be ex-husband Kris Humphries.
We’re told Kardashian is staying OTP but may plan to hit the town while she is here. Last month she posted this birthday greeting to R&B star Ciara: “I love you and hope you have the best birthday ever!!! We need to celebrate when I come to ATL!”

@Free Enterprise, first, black women having nothing to be jealous of regarding KK. My butt is big, and it’s all MINE. No injections here, as is the case with my friends with ample behinds. Same goes true for our breasts, although I will admit that I’m not nearly as large as the fake ones she sports. But, I ain’t even hating. She’s free to do whatever she pleases with her body. But don’t call us jealous. Her goal has been to make her body look more like OURS, not the other way around. Wasn’t until J Lo that big butts were even in style, with the exception of the black community.
For those of you saying TP plays off stereotypes, you obviously haven’t seen all of his movies. I have and I can assure you that is far from true. He has put out some great movies. While I am not a huge fan of everything he’s produced, he’s definitely had some winners in my book.
Kim Kardashian is no more an actress than she is a singer. This is the problem. People would rather Mr. Perry choose a REAL actress for the part. She doesn’t have a resume. She’s a reality star. She doesn’t deserve the role. End of story.

We know that Perry’s plays to black women my mother loves his movies and plays that being said I don’t like anything about him well if he bought me a Bently like he bought Ophra then I might be his friend. I’m in no way shape or form a Kim Kardashian fan, but OH MY GOODNESS, why are people so emotional about who a director puts in his movies? ‘WE’LL BOYCOTT, WE’LL BOYCOTT! For goodness sakes, grow up, and stop trying to bully people into doing things that you deem best! She seems like a really nice young lady. It seems to me that the backlash comes from the fact that her mother took a very scandalous event and turned them into “a brand” that resulted from them becoming very wealthy. I’m not mad at her for that. As for her short lived marriage, we don’t know what happened. Something had to make her run quickly. Perhaps it was verbal or physical abuse, we don’t know. As for the movie, I am very curious as to why Tyler chose her.

As a person of color, im really taken back by the racist views of alot of these people who are also people of color. Last time I checked, this is America. TP can put whomever he wants in HIS movies.KK is getting a small role that people like her get all the time. My question to Black women is this, Are you upset because she’s not an actress or because she not black? Who you feel the same way if Alicia Keys or Kelly Rowland had this part? Have people forgotten this is the South & we are Southerners. We are suppose to be the most charming people in the world and yet, people wish to be plain ol’ mean about Kim being in a movie that Tyler Perry has chosen her to be in. When she is in the South, people could in the least remember none of us have walked in her shoes one day. Living in the bible belt I would assume Southerners could remember that the Bible says not to cast stones. As a Southerner and a woman that has had to make many personal choices with marriage that others did not always agree with, I only wish the best for all those humans involved. I am proud Tyler Perry chooses the work he does that brings fabulous attention to this fine area of the country. Especially in times when the rest of the world is falling apart so greatly. Be kind to others and support these people with kindness.

I’m as far as is possible from being a part of the “Black churchgoing crowd”, as it was put here in an earlier comment. But, I can’t stand K & her money-grubbing attention-seeking family. It’s all about “Me, me, me & more me” & making out like a bandit in real quicklke fashion before America tires of K & her 15 minutes of fame; a concept of fame that Andy Wahol coined.
The K’s were thrust upon America by reality television & are supposed to pass as talent & entertainment. But in thruth they bring us nothing more than vapid emptiness.
I’ll never watch a dang thing that has anything to do with the K clan, whether it be on tv or in a Tyler Perry feature.
Kind of reminds me of Sarah & her stint with reality tv on the heels of all of her other attention getting schemes. Oh, and her family too..

Everyone thinks Kim is such a bad person, but what has she really done? She doesn’t drink, no drugs, not a Hollywood party girl. Reality TV is not reality, although if you ever watched you’d see how she’s not so different. Yes she has money, but she earned it – TV, fashion model, entrepreneur perfume, jewelry. She’s ACTIVELY involved with over a dozen charities.

Don’t really care/think about Kim Kardashian one way or another, but have to give Tyler Perry kudos for excellent marketing. I hate to say it but even if Kim gets five minutes in the screen, for every Perry fan who doesn’t pay to see this movie, two Kardashian fans will pay to see it.

Cathy – If it was so obvious on tv that Mr. Humphries was so childish, why didn’t Kim see it and for that matter her family? It’s the same old excuses we have come to accept! I’m am far from anything Hollywood, but understand what drives that place. It’s unfortunate that a person that had a famous father, but only became famous for going down on some guy, getting naked, and spreading her legs on a “leaked” sex tape has become what she has today. It’s pathetic that Hollywood and other celebrities play to this and hold her in a high regard. She is a joke, and the only reason she has maintained her stay in the spotlight is because her momma sweeps everything under the rug and keeps her clean. She obviously can’t make her own decisions as she is now twice a divorcee. Is this what we want our kids to turn out like, or turn into? I think having a movie calling Marriage Counselor starring a woman that divorced a guy after 72 days is pathetic and continues feeding her pathetic fan base and all the kids that want to be her, for whatever reason that is.

Why is is no one complains when Tyler casts (which is most of the time) all the actors that main stream Hollywood refused to cast in his movies? Now he wants Kim K to star in one of his movies, we want to play the race card?, because that’s what it boils down to. Yes I am black, and no, I do not personally care for her because I think she is
arrogant, pompous and not a role model for that particular part, considering her personal made for publicity marriage, but Tyler Perry has the right to choose the person “he” wants. Let us not forget all he has done for us as a people, personal things he did not have to do, like paying for peoples funeral expenses that he did not even know and giving so much to food banks (Hosea Williams for one) How can you just turn your back on him now. As I have stated many times, Tyler probably has a contractual agreement with Kim. However, Kim is not talented at all. And I believe, more than anything, that Kim and the entire Kardashian clan are not good role models and do not possess the kind of family values that so many of us would like to see. I hope that Tyler Perry goes ahead with his plans and casts Kim Kardashian in the role he originally planned. The great thing about this blog, as black folk we know that we can’t keep the field hands out of the big house forever and today they’ve made it to this blog site. Majority of the negative posts never read (or can’t) and couldn’t tell you who was Lincoln T. Perry or Loretta M. Aiken. Yes, that’s their real name but we know them by their stage name. When I saw this article it brought me joy because I too was immediately saddened when I first heard about you putting Kim Kardashian in one of your movies. WE are YOUR fans and have supported you and your works since day one. This will sadly be one of your biggest mistakes as a movie producer. You already know that we’re forever waiting on your next movie; and I guarantee you that this is one that I won’t be spending my money and time on seeing and I’ve seen/enjoyed them all. We love and need you and your works Mr. Perry, please don’t disappoint us. So far, you are it for your people so again….PLEASE DON’T DISAPPOINT US.
