Video: Usher screamed at for parking in handicapped spot

O O O O O O O Oh my gosh would you look at this video TMZ has posted starring Usher and a woman who seems fairly hysterical that he parked in a handicapped spot.
The incident apparently occurred at the Little Five Points Halloween costume parade, which explains why Elvis is on the scene.
Ursh didn’t stick around long (can you blame him?) and from what we’re able to overhear in the clip, people seem more concerned about the woman’s antics than Usher’s parking place. (We of course do not endorse parking in handicapped spots if you’re not handicapped. It’s wrong. Don’t do it.)
Team Usher isn’t commenting.
In happier news the R&B star was a hit at his kids’ preschool class. He has posted some really cute pictures on his Twitter feed. “They loved me!” he tweeted.

Any person that is not handicapped who intentionally and falsely represents itself in order to get such a permit – a fine of not less than $ 100 but not more than $ 500 dollars and the vehicle may be towed away. Any person that parks in the parking space designated for persons with disabilities when not entitled to it – a misdemeanor and the vehicle may be towed away.

Usher was clearly wrong for parking in a handicapped parking space. However, I am more bothered with this woman’s behavior. She clearly put her hands on Usher, and that also is illegal. I have terrible arthritis in both knees, and would like a sticker….but you have to swear in an affidavit that you cannot walk something like 50 yards (I checked into it with my internist)….the problem is I CAN walk this far, just some days its painful as hell. As the father of a special needs child… I can speak from personal experience how vital it is that these spaces be left open for those who truly need it.
The behavior of both Usher and this woman are inexcusable.

Parking in handicap spaces is completely WRONG for ALL. But what this lady did, she put her HANDS on an individual as if she was forced to do so. She wasn’t forced, so what does she tell her SON. The Lady, “Hey Son, this is how YOU should act in public. He also doesn’t tip. When my husband was working at Cracker Barrel, Usher came in with a group and left absolutely NOTHING for the waitress as a tip. She was one of the best ones there and gave his group excellent service, so there was no excuse for the snubbing. Jerk.

What do you ALL think about senior citizens, who receives a handicap parking decal because they just reached 65 on their birthday? Is it fair, that this same 65 yrs old runs with me daily on our morning route (sometimes faster than me) and exercises daily for her Swimming team. I can’t believe all the people who are excusing Usher or his driver for this. It’s appalling that some “celebrity” thinks he’s better than anyone else that he has the right to park in a handicap spot. My sister has 2 children who are severely handicapped, and she has not been able to park in these spots on many occasions because of selfish, capable people who can’t walk a few extra feet. they should be grateful they can do so.
The police should go after him and fine him – there is photographic proof he broke the law. Have lost respect for such a callous person.

I hope User presses charges against this woman for assaulting him. If he had reacted the way she did, or had retaliated, he would have been arrested and plastered all over the news real quick.
He was wrong for parking in the handicapped spot, but you can’t go around assaulting people for parking illegally. She should have called the police or the tow company and reported it if she was that upset about it.
I hope she answers for her behavior. She should get community service for this.

While Usher was wrong (or anyone) for parking in a disabled access spot when they are not, the specific behavior of the woman speaks to something deeper when she goes off in the MANNER that she did, especially feeling like she can put her hands on the man. You want to see “privilege”??? There is NONE in the USA that compares to that of white women, especially when it relates to black men. Let’s not pretend that much of Jim Crow was not deeply rooted in that premise. So I was once on an airplane, sitting in First, Usher and two women were also there, with a baby. The one woman changed the baby’s diaper directly on the plane seat!!! Yuck, Yuck, Yuck, Yuck! I actually didn’t know who he was, but was told after I went to the galley to ask the flight attendant to please make it stop. At that point, the crap had hit the seat already, but she said she would make sure it didn’t happen again and that the seat was properly wiped down after we landed. There are not many people in my bldg that work past 6pm so if those spots are not taken by 11a I PULL RIGHT IN ONE. I do not park in handicapped parking spaces, but (hear me out) this was at a bank and it is dark. Soooo the bank is closed. Not sure if that is relevant in the legal argument, but practically speaking it is relevant to me. Also, since this is a bank parking lot everyone could be towed unless they have the expressed permission to be there otherwise it is trespassing by car or foot.

@whocares, many people’s handicaps are not visible. My best friend, who recently died from breast cancer, looked fine when she exited her car in the handicap spot with her wig intact. She, however, could barely walk/breathe due to the cancer having spread to her lungs. She was weak and nauseated most of the time. But she relished the times she could get out of the house and a handicap parking space was necessary for her. Please do not be so quick to judge what you know nothing about.

That is the height of self-righteous arrogance and all of society should shame behavior like that. Tim no, never. When we were little kids my sister spent 2+ years in the hospital after a serious injury and getting around with her when she finally left was difficult. I’d never park in a spot that could potentially add to the burden of a family facing a challenge like that.

Usher was wrong for parking in a handicap space. The woman was wrong for dealing with the situation the way she did. Not sure when it became OK to attack someone or/and their property because you don’t like what they did. If this is the new and approved standard, then we all are in trouble. I do things that others don’t like and other people do things that I don’t like but never have I thought it was OK to physically attack them or their property because I did not like something that they did. This woman is very luck that she did not attack someone the way she did and they did not blow her away with a gun. OK, I get it. She was mad because he should not have parked there. But violence??? Really? Is this what we as people have reduced to? If she really wanted to make a statement, she should have gone and gotten a police officer to write him a ticket as I am sure they were all over the area during this event. I can assure you that handicapped people don’t get ‘worshipped’ or anything close to it. More than likely, we’ll go through our day only to find that a building or store we want to get into isn’t handicapped-accessible, that some considerate person has peed all over the seat and floor in the handicapped restroom stall (about half the time, they don’t even bother to lift the seat at all) or that some jerk like Usher has parked in a handicapped space and expects to be able to get away with violating the law.
I sincerely hope that neither you or anyone close to you is ever rendered handicapped, because you’re clearly neither mentally nor emotionally equipped to deal with it.

And nobody’s *asking* for it to. Installing a few ramps, elevators, handicapped-accessible bathrooms and reserving a few parking spaces for the physically handicapped does not constitute the world ‘revolving around’ us.
It’s not like we get Wells Fargo to send a teller to our houses when we need to deposit a check or Pano to drive a rack of lamb over for dinner or Philips Arena sending a limo around when we want to go see whoever’s playing that night. THAT would be ‘the world revolving around’ us.
The point here is that Usher clearly broke the law and a lady saw it and blew her stack. So two wrongs don’t make a right. But whether the lady was a butthole or not, Usher was STILL in the wrong for parking in the handicapped space.

My feeling is that karma will come around and bite me and MAKE me handicapped if I feel I’m entitled to park in one for “just a minute.” In that minute, a handicapped person may pull around and need that space. Usher was in the wrong, however, the woman was also in the wrong. There are so many people who break the law parking in handicapped places because they are too lazy to walk a just a few extra feet. I see this all the time & the police do absolutely nothing about it. There are also people that have handicaps that you cannot see, but each handicap person should have a handicap permit or a handicap tag. As for people getting a permit when they reach their 65th birthday, they should not be allowed to do so. A handicap permit or tag is just what it say, you should be handicapped to receive one. And for whoever said I’m sure we have parked in these places when we were in a hurry, I can assure you, I have not! People should be fined for parking in a handicap spot if they are not handicapped, however, unfortunately, this is not enforced.
