Video: Usher screamed at for parking in handicapped spot

AP photo

AP photo

O O O O O O O Oh my gosh would you look at this video TMZ has posted starring Usher and a woman who seems fairly hysterical that he parked in a handicapped spot.

The incident apparently occurred at the Little Five Points Halloween costume parade, which explains why Elvis is on the scene.

Ursh didn’t stick around long (can you blame him?) and from what we’re able to overhear in the clip, people seem more concerned about the woman’s antics than Usher’s parking place. (We of course do not endorse parking in handicapped spots if you’re not handicapped. It’s wrong. Don’t do it.)

Team Usher isn’t commenting.

In happier news the R&B star was a hit at his kids’ preschool class. He has posted some really cute pictures on his Twitter feed. “They loved me!” he tweeted.

Hey Ben, maybe you’ll get to like the Air Force. Zooming all over the sky and shouting ROGER and WILCO and everything. Maybe it won’t be so bad.

I hope User presses charges against this woman for assaulting him. If he had reacted the way she did, or had retaliated, he would have been arrested and plastered all over the news real quick.

He was wrong for parking in the handicapped spot, but you can’t go around assaulting people for parking illegally. She should have called the police or the tow company and reported it if she was that upset about it.

I hope she answers for her behavior. She should get community service for this.

Usher handled the situation well. He set a good example for his kids AND HERS on how to respond to negativity.

While Usher was wrong (or anyone) for parking in a disabled access spot when they are not, the specific behavior of the woman speaks to something deeper when she goes off in the MANNER that she did, especially feeling like she can put her hands on the man. You want to see “privilege”??? There is NONE in the USA that compares to that of white women, especially when it relates to black men. Let’s not pretend that much of Jim Crow was not deeply rooted in that premise. If it were me, I would have knocked her cold out for assaulting me, then immediately scrapped toe to toe with the “husband” who obviously is not man enough (or care enough) to help govern his wife’s behavior appropriately. Money means NOTHING when it comes to my dignity.

So I was once on an airplane, sitting in First, Usher and two women were also there, with a baby. The one woman changed the baby’s diaper directly on the plane seat!!! Yuck, Yuck, Yuck, Yuck! I actually didn’t know who he was, but was told after I went to the galley to ask the flight attendant to please make it stop. At that point, the crap had hit the seat already, but she said she would make sure it didn’t happen again and that the seat was properly wiped down after we landed. (From Chicago to Atlanta on a Saturday morning, between him playing CHI Fri night and ATL on Sat.)

Of course he was wrong for parking there, if he was even driving. That woman, however, is psycho and crazy as bat #$%@! How dare she put her hands on him then tell him ‘he doesn’t belong here”. Newsflash lady, slavery is over and we can go wherever we want now. She is pathetic woman who needs lithium!

Usher also pulled out a person from a burning wrecked car on the 75/85 Connector suffering burns himself and actually visited the victime in the hospital a few times!

I DO IT EVERYDAY! I don’t come into my midtown job till 11am. Every day there are 20-30 handicap spots available. There are not many people in my bldg that work past 6pm so if those spots are not taken by 11a I PULL RIGHT IN ONE. I’m not jepordizing my safety getting off at 8p by going up to the 6th fl when there are too many spots on the 1st & 2nd floors available. Too many co-workers have been mugged. I REFUSE TO APOLOGIZE!

It looks like it was a private business, maybe a bank, that was closed. I can understand if the business was open and operatinghis parking in the space being wrong, it just looks to me like people were using the lot for the parade. The lady was obviously drunk and is lucky she did not get arrested for public intoxication. I hate in your face drunk people, they are obnoxious.

Parking in handicapped spaces when you are perfectly able-bodied is one of the more unconsconable decisions a member of decent society can make.

Don — you could really “knock her cold out”, fight her husband who isn’t “man” enough, and then walk away from that situation with dignity? That’s odd. Our mothers raised us differently.

While Usher was wrong for parking there, (if it was his car) however; that woman was completely wrong for putting her hands on him and she could be charged with battery. He never touched her. I think the woman was performing for TMZ or she’s on drugs. What logical woman with a child in tow is going to fight a man over a parking spot while her child screams on?

Now that’s out of the way, USHER, you are a prick. How DARE YOU take a handicapped parking spot. You are an extremely talented performer, but you are clearly not a very good person.

I do not park in handicapped parking spaces, but (hear me out) this was at a bank and it is dark. Soooo the bank is closed. Not sure if that is relevant in the legal argument, but practically speaking it is relevant to me. Also, since this is a bank parking lot everyone could be towed unless they have the expressed permission to be there otherwise it is trespassing by car or foot.

@ Slowcume,What exactly do you mean? Are you speaking of The White woman that broke the law by assaulting Usher verbally and physically or are you talking about Usher or his driver breaking the law by parking in a handicapped spot?

I realize and know that you surely can’t be talking about a “culture” or whatever especially with the history of unlawful acts that has occurred in a “certain culture” when it comes to conquering people physically and with racist ideology.

So please “miss me with the nonsense”……

she was trying to “bate” him into physically assaulting her so she could get a “payday”. Fortunately he kept a cool head. She should have be tased for assaulting him and invading his personal space in a threatening manor. She clearly was acting like a possessed animal somewhat demonic.

Al Right

I agree that she was likely drunk and totally overreacted. She should have been charged with assault. So should Usher and/or his driver been ticketed for illegal parking.

I just hope to get the point across to many who have already posted (since it seems to have escaped many) that it is morally wrong to park in a handicapped space unless you are actually handicapped. Just because you are in a hurry or happen to be driving grandpa’s car does not make it “OK”. If you are self righteous enough to believe it is okay, you are a worthless pos and I hope you rot in hades.

have a great Friday everybody!

@whocares, many people’s handicaps are not visible. My best friend, who recently died from breast cancer, looked fine when she exited her car in the handicap spot with her wig intact. She, however, could barely walk/breathe due to the cancer having spread to her lungs. She was weak and nauseated most of the time. But she relished the times she could get out of the house and a handicap parking space was necessary for her. Please do not be so quick to judge what you know nothing about.

It is the small things that measure a man. Not riches not fame not looks not race. BEHAVIOR MEASURES A MAN. This shows this man is inconsiderate, lazy, rude and regardless of the ‘fans’ he is not a good man.

@emmysmom- agreed. also people, doctors have to sign off on the forms- you cannot just print one of your copier- after the dr signs it, it has to be taken to the state or county, to be certified and issued. and some are red- temporary and some are blue-perm. i want you people to just be open minded. speaking of open minded- paula deen was wrong for calling out michelle obama.

What do you want us to say, Sage and Justin? You’re right. That woman is an ignorant racist waste of oxygen. Does that make you feel better? She obviously feels very strongly about the issue you hand. If Usher would have parked in a normal spot do you think she would have attacked him just because he is black? I think not. That would be completely stupid. I also would wager that if that had been Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez, Yo Yo Ma for pete’s sake, she would have reacted the same way. People who hang out at the Star Bar are more anti-establishment than they are obtuse racist morons. The issue was parking in the handicapped space. By doing so, he provoked her. That’s not defending her reaction, however, had he not put himself on a pedestal with his actions, none of that would have occurred.

@Atl – No No No No No No. You don’t get it. It is absolutely polar opposite from taking a mint or office supplies. Why don’t you understand that it is morally wrong to do so? For multiple reasons. First and foremost, you deprive someone who has been given a challenge in life that you are lucky to not have to suffer through an opportunity to get out and experience life with a little less difficulty than being lumped in with the rest of us. Why can’t you understand that is the right thing to do? Secondly, you think you are better than everyone else, handicapped or not, by thinking you are priveleged enough to take the best space available because you don’t want to use your able legs and walk yourself? That is the height of self-righteous arrogance and all of society should shame behavior like that. If you excuse it, you are stupid and I hope that you do not reproduce because you are certainly incapable of teaching your children right from wrong.
