It’s all over: Friday is the new “Rapture” day

four-horsemen-of-the-apocalypseDon’t make any weekend plans.

Harold Camping, the end-of-times preacher who incorrectly calculated that the world would end on May 21, has a new prediction. The apocalypse is actually going to be this Friday, he now says.

(Here’s a Christian Post article that links to a slew of other coverage.)

After the first Rapture date came and went, Camping came in for a bit of static. Especially from people who’d depleted their savings figuring they’d be whisked to heaven.

Not to fear, Camping explained. May 21 was merely the spiritual Rapture. This Friday is the real deal.

Unlike this spring, we’re not seeing massive coverage of people camped out awaiting the end of the world. (Unless some of the “Occupy” protesters have worked that into their list of demands).

So, are you getting your affairs in order?

Mr. Camping, thank you for the religious equivalent of crying ‘wolf’. i predict that this Friday will arrive with a sunrise and cooler weather, then end with a sunset and some high school football. ;-)

If he would read scripture then he would know no man can predict the date of the end of the world. Can you say “False Prophet”

Objectively speaking, some guy named Jesus said he would be right back. Two thousand years later a bunch of fools are saying he will return at any moment. Two thousand years people — don’t you think you should give up on this fairy tale by now.

The Bible says no man knows the “day and hour”, but I guess that means we can know the week month and year, ya think?

Harold says that he thinks the end will come quietly—perhaps it will come so quietly that no one will even notice it.

CMA- how do you “loose” faith? Does it have a grip on you? Or do you mean “lose”? Why are these 2 words so confusing to people?

brock, come on- “i saw too movies when i went two the theatre last night, to.” loss, lost, pass, past–a homonym is a homonym is a homonym. i will give them lose and loose ’cause the lose is actually pronounced as if it were spelled loose. NEXT!

Rev.3:3 If therefore thou shall not watch (study the Bible) I will come as a thief (unexpectedly) in the night, and you will not know the hour I come (unless you have a teacher to show how mighty God is)

so…ummmm, albert e– are you saying this guy is that teacher? because my Bible says that we shall not know the day nor the hour and that 1000 or close, years to us are as a minute to God. i have had wonderful teachers who taught me about the Lord. and none of them even attempted to prophesy re the day of His returning.

Girl six:
I have no opinion, merely giving examples of text in the Bible.
The Bible reveals telling Noah the exact day when the floods would come.
If He did not know the day, everyone would have been caught up in the flood.

albert e- honey that was then and the floods and i will have to research it, but i think God gave noah a time frame, and then when the flooding commenced, God Himself closed the doors of the Ark. however…since water will not herald the end of the earth, you cannot use properly use that analogy for doomsday. (but as this is an op ed, you can really use whateva you wish, ijs.)
