A prop plane plays the role of an Ethiopian airliner in "What To Expect When You're Expecting"

The Cameron Diaz-Jennifer Lopez movie “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” has been filming at Piedmont Park, Little Five Points and at Smith’s Olde Bar.

Recently the movie, also starring Chris Rock, Chace Crawford and Anna Kendrick, took over Charlie Brown airport for some scenes.

Our on-set spy got us a few photos of the airport (officially called Fulton County Airport at Brown Field) on the day the filming took place there.

376954492The scenes filmed there are set in Ethiopia. (Casting calls also have sought Ethiopian extras.) In one photo you’ll notice the airplane that is parked outside the airport says Trans Ethiopia.

Also, you’ll notice that the Ethiopian flag is flying outside the front of the airport (we’re assuming the camera angle will crop out the Fulton County Airport sign).

The movie, compared to “Love, Actually” for its ensemble format, follows a number of different couples …

John Smoltz not complaining “The Change-Up” left him out

The cameo John Smoltz filmed for "The Change-Up" didn't survive the final cut, but at least he got to meet Ryan Reynolds.

The cameo John Smoltz filmed for "The Change-Up" didn't survive the final cut, but at least he got to meet Ryan Reynolds.

Former Atlanta Braves pitcher John Smoltz joined Ryan Reynolds and Olivia Wilde at Turner Field last November to film scenes for “The Change-Up.”

The buddy flick also starring Leslie Mann and Jason Bateman shot a huge scene there, and Smoltz was to play himself in a cameo. (Actually he was going to billed as a pitching coach). It was freezing that day but, pro that he is, Smoltz got suited up and put his game face on.

“Putting on the uniform was kind of weird,” Smoltz told us about a month after the filming. “But it still fit!”

Well, after putting in long hours on a brisk November morning for a command cameo, the segments with Smoltz apparently ended up on the cutting room floor. But he isn’t complaining.

Reviews for the movie, which was filmed all over Atlanta, have been pretty bad. Here’s the opening paragraph of Roger Ebert’s review: ” ‘The …

Salma Hayek: I love being rich

While the bloggerati are busy tweeting and retweeting Warren Buffett’s New York Times column demanding the super wealthy pay higher taxes, actress Salma Hayek is telling Allure magazine how totally awesome it is to be loaded.

“I never understood the point of being privileged if you don’t get to have the privileges,” the actress says in the magazine’s September edition. She is married to French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault, whose family is worth $11.5 billion, the article reports.

Although Hayek discussed her love of yachts and private jets with Allure, she does keep it real. No cosmetic surgery for this beauty.

“I’ve never had anything done on my face,” she said.

Cameron Diaz is in Atlanta

Cameron Diaz is now here in Atlanta, for her role in the movie “What To Expect When You’re Expecting.”

The project has been filming in Piedmont Park, Charlie Brown airport, Little Five Points and at Smith’s Olde Bar.

Other stars include Jennifer Lopez, Chris Rock, Chace Crawford and Anna Kendrick.

Diaz was spotted twice yesterday at the same restaurant: South City Kitchen in Midtown. She had lunch there with her mom and later returned for dinner and drinks with a big group of friends.

J-Lo has kept a much lower profile, coming and going by private jet and being whisked through town in a caravan of SUVs with dark tinted windows. She’s on the cover of the current Vanity Fair, and a slew of celebrity gossip magazines have been in town, tripping over each other in hopes of nabbing a photo or any scoop on the newly single Lopez.

Anyway, back to South City. The Midtown location known for its upscale Southern comfort food is used to hosting famous diners. Jason Bateman and …

Tyler Perry wants parents to step up.

In an emotional essay posted today on his blog, he told his fans about how the sight of a guy crossing the street holding the hand of his toddler made him tear up.

“Why did I have such a strong emotional reaction to this father and son? It didn’t take long for me to realize that it was because I never had those kind of experiences, never knew that kind of unconditional joy, never knew what it felt like to be wanted and adored as a child.”

Perry, who is currently filming “I, Alex Cross” in Cleveland, has talked frequently about suffering abuse as a child. Not quite a year ago, he went on his friend Oprah Winfrey’s show to reveal the painful secrets from his childhood. He discussed, in great candor, …

The mayor has totally got to get one of these

You know how in Gotham City when Commissioner Gordon’s in a jam, he shines that giant bat signal in the sky to summon Batman? (Luckily trouble never strikes during daylight hours).

Well, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed is doing something kind of like that today.

Here’s a bulletin just issued on behalf of hizzoner:

“The Mayor’s Office is looking for any celebs/artists to stand with Mayor Kasim Reed today at 2:30pm at a Back-to-School Pep Rally at Jean Childs Young Middle School, 3116 Benjamin E. Mays Drive SW, Atlanta GA 30311.”

“The celeb/artist would need to attend for an hour (2:45 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.) and give a 2-3 minute pep talk to encourage kids to work hard this school year.”

Come on, how hard is that?

If your arm needs any more twisting, the call for celebs dangles this tantalizing carrot: “Press will be in …

Kathryn Stockett’s cameo in “The Help”

I just came across this photo of Kathryn Stockett in a beehived cameo in "The Help." I think this is the scene where the ladies are having a Junior League meeting. I missed it when I went to see the movie. Guess I need to go again! Have y'all seen it yet?
