Cameron Diaz is in Atlanta

Cameron Diaz is now here in Atlanta, for her role in the movie “What To Expect When You’re Expecting.”

The project has been filming in Piedmont Park, Charlie Brown airport, Little Five Points and at Smith’s Olde Bar.

Other stars include Jennifer Lopez, Chris Rock, Chace Crawford and Anna Kendrick.

Diaz was spotted twice yesterday at the same restaurant: South City Kitchen in Midtown. She had lunch there with her mom and later returned for dinner and drinks with a big group of friends.

J-Lo has kept a much lower profile, coming and going by private jet and being whisked through town in a caravan of SUVs with dark tinted windows. She’s on the cover of the current Vanity Fair, and a slew of celebrity gossip magazines have been in town, tripping over each other in hopes of nabbing a photo or any scoop on the newly single Lopez.

Anyway, back to South City. The Midtown location known for its upscale Southern comfort food is used to hosting famous diners. Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds were spotted there while in town filming “The Change-Up.” Former first lady Laura Bush had dinner there last year when she was in Atlanta on her book tour, joined by former U.S. Sen. Sam Nunn. The aforementioned Chris Rock was there the other day.

Other well-known fans of SCK have included Conan O’Brien, Jennifer Hudson, Charles Barkley, Debbie Allen, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck.

South City Kitchen undoubtedly benefits greatly with these visiting celebs simply due to its close proximity to the Four Seasons.

This huge tax break Georgia is offering these movie studios is obviously doing the trick. All kinds of star-spotting going on in the ATL these days.

WHY?

This is not some contest as to which city is “cooler.” They simply are informing the readers that she is in town. They write an article anytime someone comes to town as an informative piece, not a gloating piece.

What’s next, you going to fly to a conference in New York to talk about how much you hate flying?

Yo Yo Mama, I thought the same thing. : )

John Doe, if you’re not impressed, why are you reading about Cameron Diaz being in town????

I, for one, am not so impressed by an individual celebrity per se, but am definitely excited by the thought of the movie industry bringing much needed business (and attention) to our city and state.

True, South City Kitchen is close to The Four Seasons, but they have some very delicious items on their menu: Fried Green Tomatoes, Buttermilk Fried Chicken, a great vegetable plate. No, I don’t work there, but I do work 2 blocks down. I don’t eat there on a regular basis….there’s a reason why the food is so good. Sidenote: I agree…..Jennifer Lopez may be “pretty”, but her “I know I’m pretty” attitude is very unattractive.

For those of you that have a strong aversion to celebs and do not want to hear or know anything about them, why do you read The Buzz and then ask “who cares?” Apparently you do or you would not read the article.

Bieber’s Beaver, it’s called “jobs”. If movies are filmed here, local people often get hired. And the people in the cast/crew spend money at local eateries like South City Kitchen.

Bieber, there is a reason for so-called “tax breaks”, and it’s not to “make the rich happy” or whatever else MTV and Hollywood celebs want to tell you. The reason for a tax break is to provide incentive for people to spend money in an area (i.e. hiring workers, paying sales tax on everything they buy, providing commerce to an area, etc.) that they otherwise would not spend a dime. Hmmmm…this sounds familiar?

No matter what Obama and them want to believe, you can’t force people to spend their money. You have to provide incentive, gosh darn it. :) Unlike the federal government, the state of Georgia couldn’t force these studios to film here….they had to provide some incentive to do so. Otherwise they wouldn’t be here.

I’m glad to see the utlization of Piedmont Park. Kudos to The Piedmont Park Conservancy. In the last few years, they have done wonderful things to restore and improve many areas of the park. The park is a treasure for all the people of Atlanta to share. It’s nice we will be able to see it on the big screen soon.

I’ll always sleep easier at night knowing: there are people out there to spot celebrities, there are people out there who report that a celebrity has been spotted, and there are people out there who care that a celebrity has been spotted.

My sister works a couple nights a week at Seasons 52, it’s behind the St. Regis(where I am assuming Cameron is staying…as most celebs stay there. My best friend works at the St. Regis and sees them all the time), anyway my sister ended up serving her tonight…haha so funny. She said she was very sweet and seemed very down to earth. :)
