Soulja Boy’s $55 million birthday gift … to himself

AJC file photo

AJC file photo

Rapper Soulja Boy cranked it but good for his 21st birthday this week. He celebrated by springing for a Gulfstream G5 jet, People reports.

The new ride is tricked out with upgrades including “custom Italian leather seats, flat screen TVs, four liquor bars, a customized travertine-tiled floor, a revamped bathroom and Brazilian hardwood cabinets,” People reports, citing a TMZ post.

Total price tag of Air Soulja: $55 million. (Forbes estimated his 2010 earnings at $6 million. Hmm.)

The young artist is throwing himself a birthday bash in Miami tonight, and his guest list includes Sean Kingston, Bow Wow and Dwight Howard.

You’re invited, too! Well, sort of.

If you’d like to join in the Pretty Boy Swag online, you’re welcome to stream the party video from Soulja’s website.

Sorry but watching the party on your computer involves a fee. Can you blame Soulja? He’s got a new plane to pay for, you know.

Is he planning on getting shot(I am totally kidding folks)? Cause he sure needs an uptick in sales to recoup that. Who’s doing his budget? Congress?

Could have spent like $1M in a grant to Morehouse and Spelman to set-up tutoring of high school kids in the “community” by college kids. Or, he could have just grabbed the most baller thing he could, for a few months.

It’s not racism, it’s mind control. He just gave his money to these dudes. Voluntarily.

Not to say that Hammer’s case wasn’t bad, but the reason he went broke is because at one point he had close to 400 people on his payroll. He was actually trying to help people out. The $55M that this dolt ALLEGEDLY spent on a plane isn’t going to help anyone out.

I really hope this story isn’t true.

In this economy…u better have a home bought and paid for. No babies mommas. and a catalog full of hits in both the US and abroad. Plane has to be parked, housed, fueled and maintained…not to mention…A PILOT!!! YOU IDIOT!!! Better start a charter service and fast. Rent out to corporate clients asap.

Now just wait – major problems with the IRS and a bankruptcy filing in a few years. Young guys like this need fewer enablers and more business managers/CPAs with the cojones to say “NO”.

I doubt he owns the a/c outright. More than likely, he’s bought a fractional stake in the a/c through a company like NetJets.

Wow $55 milion on a jet!! Now really how much is he going to fly, and the last time I checked the price of fuel is through the sky, I guarantee after 1 year of maintenance and fuel for this expensive jet, he will be selling it or broke. Why does a person need 4 bars in a jet, why not have 1 with all the liquor you can drink, im sure it’s not going to be a line at the bar. I’m not hating just a realist. Why not invest in a nice mansion if you want to blow $55 million? Man this guy had no financial guidance when he made this stupid decision.

STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES! Why buy a real jet when you can only afford a Toys R Us toy model?..He’s spending monies he has not even made yet just to impress others….sad..shm….M.C. Hammer and the other losers that have gone through this, please contact the little man and school him!!..smh…….

I am sure that in a couple of days it will come out that he LEASED a jet, not bought one. He doesn’t have the income to support such a large purchase. Some people will believe anything!

As for MCHammer jokes, please learn more about this man. He bought a house he shouldn’t have, but he also employed about 100 people to keep them off the street. I really admire what he did, just wish he would’ve made better decisions regarding his home. For the record, he was never broke. He always said that. If you saw his reality show you really got to see how smart this man really is. Even “The Donald” had to file bankruptcy. It happens all the time in business.

My sources close to the rapper tells me that he is only renting this luxury jet at roughly $50,000 for his birthday only. Get it!! One Day. There was a $200,000 security deposit required. The rapper and a few of his close friends will take a luxury ride. The plane is being piloted by Marty Colbert and Steven Bilter. Come on people, let put things in perspective, Bill Gates dosen’t own a $55 million dollar jet. Now calm down you idiots!!

Christopher

The way it works is this: a corporation is formed to purchase and own the plane. The owner then uses an air leasing firm such as NetJets to lease the plane out when not being used by the owner. The owner pays the corporation for his use of the plane, which is usually tax-deductable as a business travel expense. I know several business people who own theirplanes who hav e told me that with the business expense deduction and corporate tax deductions, their use of the plane is pretty much at no cost to themselves.

So stupid how all these guys feel like they just have to have a Rolls or flaunt their money to impress people. How about having a social conscious and teach young urban kids by example that owning and flaunting needless, expensive things (even if it’s just a rental) to impress people is the last thing you need to do to have character as a man? Now it is coming out that he owes the IRS 30 grand . . . and don’t forget his house was foreclosed on just last year.

All I can say is, it’s his money, he can do with it what he wants. So what if it gets repossessed. At least he got to enjoy it while he had it. You can’t take it with you. If some bank is stupid enough to finance it, then it’s their problem.
