JonBenet Ramsey’s father remarries

Five years a widower, John Ramsey, who lost his daughter JonBenet Ramsey in a case that riveted the world’s attention, has remarried.

People magazine, citing the National Enquirer, reports:

“Ramsey, 67, tied the knot with Jan Rousseaux, 53, a twice-divorced Las Vegas designer, on July 21 in Charlevoix, Mich.”

Here is a link to the People story. Here is a link to the Enquirer story.

Mr. Ramsey had previously been romantically linked to Beth Twitty, who is the mother of Natalee Holloway, but that relationship ended years ago.

JonBenet, the 6-year-old beauty queen found murdered on Christmas night in 1996, is buried in Marietta next to her mom Patsy, who died of ovarian cancer, and a sister who had died in a 1992 car wreck.

Their graves are at the very back of the Episcopal cemetery on Polk Street, near Marietta Middle School (formerly Marietta High School). It’s a nice, peaceful place and still attracts mourners. There are usually angel ornaments hanging from the tree standing next to the graves, and people sometimes leave little dolls or other tokens on JonBenet’s grave.

The case took another bizarre turn when John Mark Karr claimed to be responsible. At last report Karr had changed his name to Alexis Reich and was reportedly preparing to undergo gender reassignment surgery.  Karr was never charged with any crime connected to JonBenet, but was run out of town when he tried to move to metro Atlanta where his father lived. Here’s a link to the AJC’s last story on Karr.

JonBenet’s murder remains unsolved.

I remember the case, they suspected her brother, but no one would allow them to interview him and nothing ever came about

Must you give the location of the graves? It should be a place of privacy for the family and not an attraction for who knows what kind of people.

Would JonBenet be legal yet?

I am very happy for him and I’m glad that after such a tremendous tragedy he was able to rebound and find love once again. Many blessings and good wishes to him and his new wife.

The DA in Colorado made the statement more than once over the past couple of years that DNA testing proved that NO family member was involved in her killing.

It hardly feels like 15 years ago. I wish Mr. Ramsey peace and happiness. Congratulations.

I had the pleasure of meeting the Ramseys a decade ago when they were looking for colleges for their son. They visited the University of Maryland and even spoke to a couple of journalism classes about their experience with the media. I have to say they were the nicest people you could ever want to meet, considering what they had been through. They were a little shy, especially Mr. Ramsey, but they warmed up to us pretty soon and were so kind with the students. I wish him all the best in his new marriage.

Alpha71 the location of the grave is no secret at all. It’s not all that well visited these days. It’s near my house, right next to our church, and I rarely see people there anymore.

JonBennet was the victim of a family member. There are pedifiles who go after 6 year olds only. They are old enough to talk but still a child. Some very famous detectives think she was raised for that purpose.

None of us should ever experience what this poor man has been through. Losing two children and a spouse, having morons still believing you or a family member had something to do with the brutal murder of one of those children, despite every investigation ending with solid statements excluding the family and still having your life reported in the press. Obviously, Mr. Ramsey is a strong man.

I remember going to a grocery store in Atlanta shortly after the Ramsey’s moved here. All the National Enquirers, etc., had been moved to behind the counter. The checkout person told me Mrs. Ramsey and her son had been in the store and were faced with covers claiming the son killed his sister. I cannot imagine how these people were able to hold their heads high, as they did, and keep going in light of how the press treated them.

Congrats to Mr. Ramsey. If anyone deserves happiness, it is he.

DNA evidence proved it COULD NOT have been a family member.

I cannot imagine the horror of losing a young child to a vicious murder and then, as if that is not bad enough, having every writer, talk show host and talking head pronounce you guilty and drag your name through the mud for years when you were truly innocent. Poor Patsy went to her grave under that dark cloud.

I remember JonBenet

Congrats to John. but IMHO (bolstered by info I have from an internal source), Patsy failed the lie detector test twice before she got to a result that was indeterminate. I hate that Patsy is buried next to JonBenet. I hope John can get on with his life with the new wife.

The brother…they shipped him away to school…why lose one child when you’ve lost another…very sad.

I agree with ALPHA71, why do you need to give the exact directions of the gravesites? Hasn’t this family been thru enough wihtout gawkers? That really wasn’t a nice thing to do. Think of it in terms of your own family, would you appreciate that?

Let’s use some decorum, please.
