Justin Bieber-Selena Gomez date night at Chops

Justin Bieber chose Chops for a romantic date with Selena Gomez Wednesday night.

Justin Bieber chose Chops for a romantic date with Selena Gomez Wednesday night.

Justin Bieber is one romantic guy. He and gal pal Selena Gomez dined at Chops Lobster Bar in Buckhead last night.

He had candles and pink rose petals scattered on the table.

Awwww.

Selena’s in town to promote her new movie, “Monte Carlo.” She’s appearing at 6 p.m. today at the Mall of Georgia.

Furkids shares celeb encounters on eve of fundraiser

Somehow Jack the Cat did not rate top billing in the "Madea" movie. An oversight, no doubt.

Somehow Jack the Cat did not rate top billing in the "Madea" movie. An oversight, no doubt.

Tyler Perry and Jack the Cat have much in common.

Both have been homeless, yet both have been seen on the big screen.

Perry has talked at length about how he was once without a permanent home. Now Jack’s story can be told, too.

The handsome striped fellow was adopted about four years ago from Furkids, a cage-free, no-kill shelter that has helped thousands of animals find homes.

He now lives with Mary Stacy, a freelance buyer for movie set designers who’s worked on films including “Remember the Titans” and “Glory.” Stacy was working on “Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail” when an office scene needed a framed photo of a cat. Jack got the call.

Jack the Cat has journeyed from homelessness to movie fame thanks to Furkids founder and executive director Samantha Shelton, left, and owner Mary Stacy.

What’s next for Anthony Weiner?

The New York Times

The New York Times

Anthony Weiner, the embattled congressman and gift-that-keeps-on-giving to late-night comedians and tabloid headline writers, plans to step down, the New York Times is reporting.

So, what’s next?

The sordid tale has a local connection, as one of Weiner’s sexting buddies, Ginger Lee, grew up in Georgia and plans to take the stage at the Pink Pony tonight. (Those Pink Pony folks are some savvy strip-club proprietors. Last year during Masters Week they booked one of Tiger Woods’ mistresses to perform.)

As fellow disgraced New York politician Eliot Spitzer proves, it’s possible to move on from something like this. The former New York governor, known in call-girl circles as “Client 9,” now has a show on CNN. (Might the Atlanta-based news network sign up the soon-to-be-former Congressman and rebrand the show Weiner-Spitzer?)

So, what’s your prediction? Rehab? A book tour? A reality show?

Make easy money as a movie extra

Want to make money as a movie extra with almost no effort?

Sorry if that sounds like a late-night infomercial but this is for real.

Bill Marinella Casting needs a bunch – hundreds – of newer cars for a huge scene to be shot Monday night into Tuesday morning. It’s going to be raining in the scene so your wheels will get wet but you don’t have even have to be there. Marinella put it this way: “Make money while you sleep!”

This will be happening at a “secret” location on Monday. They often don’t announce big outdoor scenes ahead of time to keep things running smoothly. But when I know, you’ll know. They also aren’t publicly announcing which movie this is for, but it’s a pretty big deal.

For now, if you are interested email a photo of your ride to atlantacarcall@gmail.com and describe the year, make, model and color. They can’t use white cars but everything else is fine.

Justin Bieber’s in town on eve of Selena Gomez appearance

Justin Bieber’s gal pal Selena Gomez will be at the Mall of Georgia at 6 p.m. Thursday to promote her new movie, “Monte Carlo.”

Bieber was spotted in metro Atlanta earlier tonight. Numerous tipsters, including the effervescent commenter below, saw him at Life Time Fitness in Johns Creek.

Festivities begin in the Mall of Georgia Village Amphitheater at 2 p.m. Thursday. Fans can also line up for mini-makeovers and a “photo experience.” If you go, tell us what that means.

In the movie, coming out July 1, Gomez plays a teen “who becomes an accidental heiress when a summer trip to Paris turns into the fantasy of a lifetime, and, through a case of mistaken identity, gets to live like royalty.”

In real life, she gets to hang with the Biebs.

Winfrey herself is not on the agenda but you never know. (Remember how she made a surprise visit to the Ron Clark Academy graduation last year?)

The event, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (doors open at 7:30 a.m.) is billed as a day of empowerment. “Want to start living your best life now? Who are you meant to be? Are you focused on your passions, dreams and goals? What’s holding you back? Are there obstacles preventing you from living your best life?”

And so on.

What the (bleep?)

Adam Mansbach has a hit on his hands with this bedtime book for adults.

Adam Mansbach has a hit on his hands with this bedtime book for adults.

What the #$$%^ is with the stream of blue-streak pop culture hits?

First the irreverent (Bleep) My Dad Says Twitter account (2.4 million followers and counting) spawns a New York Times bestselling book and television series (short-lived, yes, but still.)

Then Cee Lo burns up the charts with a cheekily sanitized version of his viral Internet hit “(Blank) You.” It’s rendered as “Forget You” for the public airwaves but caught on in its original state online.

Now we have a literary hit in “Go the (bleep) to Sleep.” Actor Samuel L. Jackson will lend his dulcet tones to the audio version of the smash hit. (My stay-at-home-mom friends are big fans of this one, by the way. If you’ve never paced the floor with a screaming child at 3 a.m., you apparently just don’t understand.)

But seriously. What the #$%^A?

Does the mainstream success of profane projects trouble you? Does it indicate our ever coarsening society is …

Filming updates

Lots of movie action all around town today! Here’s what I know.

“The Three Stooges” has set up shop at the Atlanta Civic Center, after filming at Stone Mountain Park, Buckhead and Midtown. Stone Mountain was rendered into a zoo for the scenes shot there. Thanks to John Kraft, who tweeted us this photo of the project cranking up at the Civic Center. Follow him at @JohnKinATL. Jack May took the photo. Nice teamwork fellas!

“American Reunion” cast members continue popping up all over the place. Actors Jason Biggs and Chris Kein were seen at Shout over the weekend. Alyson Hannigan was shopping for sundresses at Junebug, one of the Midtown Alliance pop-up shops. And Eugene Levy stopped by the Buckhead Diner recently.

“The Walking Dead” lurched through Cobb County on Monday morning. Here’s a great gallery of photos. Today they’re in downtown Atlanta.

Do budget Britney Spears concert tickets mean tour trouble?

Britney-Spears-AP-5324341

Britney Spears performs at Philips Arena on July 17. Act fast and you can see her for roughly half-off.

Groupon is offering the discounted tickets. Click here to purchase $70 tickets for $36.

Now, why are they trying to unload tickets through Groupon? Either they aren’t selling well or Britney (who may or may not be newly engaged, depending on which gossip site you read) just wants to make sure her fans can afford to see her show.

Last summer, you may recall, concerts including the Jonas Brothers, Rihanna, 50 Cent and Lilith Fair all were canceled. Slow ticket sales generally explain why a show gets scrapped.

Of course Brit’s not the only artist moving tickets through deal sites. Willie Nelson unloaded more than 250 tickets to this week’s show at Coolray Field, where the Gwinnett Braves play, through Daily Deal Pool. That deal has expired.

Are you planning to see Britney live? Or have concerts become too expensive?
