Various media reports swirling about suggest that O.J. Simpson, who was acquitted after standing trial for the 1994 murders Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman, will confess in a televised interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The National Enquirer reports that Simpson, who is in prison on unrelated robbery, assault and other charges, has told a producer for Winfrey that he acted in self defense.

Here’s a link to a lengthy story in the Daily Mail. Warning, the article includes graphic statements about the incident.

A representative for Winfrey told The Hollywood Reporter that she has not clinched a confession from Simpson. “That’s not true,” the representative said.

Winfrey has said she very much wants to land the interview and confession for “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” her new show airing on the OWN channel.

“I have a dream of O.J. Simpson confessing to me,” she said at the NCTA’s annual Cable Show in Chicago, THR reported recently. “I don’t just want the …

Tom Hanks discusses Julia Roberts with B 98.5 team

Tom Hanks visited with the B 98.5 FM Morning Show team, including producer Jessica Forkel. Her flip flops were a big hit.

Tom Hanks visited with the B 98.5 FM Morning Show team, including producer Jessica Forkel. Her flip flops were a big hit.

Actor Tom Hanks stopped by the B 98.5 FM studio this morning and cut up for a few minutes with Morning Show crewmembers Vikki Locke, Kelly Stevens and Jessica Forkel.

“You are in Julia Roberts country,” Locke noted as Hanks sat down to discuss his new movie, “Larry Crowne,” which co-stars the Smyrna native.

“She brags about it to this day,” Hanks quipped.

In the movie, which Hanks directed and co-wrote, he plays a middle-aged guy who returns to school after losing his job. Roberts plays a professor. The film comes out July 1.

Locke praised the upbeat nature of the movie, given the career and economic straits so many people are in these days.

“We fight the cynicism with ‘Larry Crowne,’” Hanks said. “All of this comes down to a personal battle between you and your day, and how do you make progress?”

Stevens focused on what was really …

“Gone With the Wind” night at Turner Field

gwtwIf you’re going to the Atlanta Braves game on July 2, bring your glove and your hoop skirt.

The Braves, the Atlanta History Center and the Margaret Mitchell House are teaming up for “Gone with the Wind Night” to celebrate the novel’s 75th anniversary. Fans who show their July 2 Braves ticket stub at the Atlanta History Center or Margaret Mitchell House afterward will receive $5 off admission to either venue.

Fans who come to the game dressed as their favorite GWTW character on July 2 get $10 off Upper Box (regularly $18) or Outfield Pavilion (regularly $28) tickets. A Scarlett O’Hara impersonator will greet fans beginning at 4:30 p.m. and host GWTW trivia.

Dance instructors will teach the Virginia Reel and Civil War reenactors will pose for pictures. (We do not envy the boys in blue or gray, who will be decked out in wool).

Other festivities include a Scarlett and Rhett lookalike contest, and clips from the movie will be played throughout the game. (Hint: fans who dress up …

Cameron Diaz movie needs no more tech help

Update: They’re good! No more crew folks needed! Quit emailing them!

Cameron Diaz will be coming to Atlanta later this summer. She’ll be shooting a film, “What To Expect When You’re Expecting,” based on the long, long, longtime parenting bestseller.

The movie, billed as a comedy sort of in the “Love Actually” vein, taking a look at five couples about to become first-time parents, is going to be filming in and around Atlanta and beyond from late July through September.

It’s likely the project will send out the call for extras once things get cranking. The project had asked for resumes from people looking to hire on as crew members. They have all the techies they need now so quit emailing. Their account’s apparently been overloaded.

Our visit with the two cute “Change-Up” stars

East Cobb twins Luke, left, and Lauren Bain landed roles in "The Change-Up," which was filmed here and comes out later this summer.

Since “The Change-Up” is back in town shooting a few more scenes before its August release, we visited with the movie’s two cute stars the other day.

No, not Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman. We checked in with Luke and Lauren Bain, the adorable 15-month-old East Cobb twins who landed roles in the comedy, which was mostly filmed here last year.

Their mom, Missy Bain, teaches second grade at Mt. Bethel Elementary, and the parent of one of her students alerted her to the movie’s need for twin babies last summer. She sent in their photos and took them to an “audition” so the casting folks could meet them.

“I never thought anything about it after that,” Missy Bain said. But her twins clearly had star power and nabbed the parts. They filmed for 19 days late last fall, mostly in a studio but also in a private Buckhead home. It was during a dining room …

Forecast calls for rain on set of Ryan Reynolds-Jason Bateman flick

The forecast calls for some very localized showers tonight at North Point Mall in Alpharetta. "The Change-Up," starring Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman, is filming an outdoor scene there tonight into tomorrow morning. It's going to rain courtesy of those big contraptions you see. A source on set emailed this photo to us. We have blurred the license plate numbers of the two cars to respect their owners' privacy.

Ryan Reynolds, Robert Duvall and more: Star sightings, filming updates

Morning folks. It looks to be a busy week for filming this week in Atlanta.

Here’s what I know.

“The Change-Up,” starring Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman, is back in action. The movie, coming out in August, filmed all over the place earlier this year – Turner Field, downtown, the Georgian Terrace, etc. It looks like they’re doing a few retakes, and Reynolds and Bateman are both back in town.

The project set up shop at Phipps Plaza on Sunday. We hear they’re going to be filming a big outdoor mall parking lot scene at North Point Mall in Alpharetta tonight, and that it’s going to be raining in the scene. So, if you drive by and wonder what’s up with the very localized thunderstorm, mystery solved.

During a break on Sunday, Reynolds and director David Dobkin had lunch at Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse in the mall. A few tables over Billy Bob Thornton was there with his wife and daughter celebrating Father’s Day. Also Sunday, Kevin Bacon and Sean Hayes stopped by to …

Ryan Reynolds is back in town

AP photo

AP photo

Ryan Reynolds is back in Atlanta.

The guy dubbed “sexiest man alive” by People magazine last year had dinner at Chops Lobster Bar Friday night. He and a few buddies dined together, very quietly. He had the grilled salmon and was in and out pretty quickly.

Chops is also where Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez had a little date night on Wednesday by the way.

Reynolds currently stars in the action flick “Green Lantern.” Our guess is that he in Atlanta for some final work on “The Change-Up.” The buddy flick, co-starring Jason Bateman, was shot here earlier this year and is scheduled to come out in August. It wouldn’t be surprising if they’re doing a few final tweaks, or maybe shooting a promotional bit.

Anyway, welcome back Ryan.

Calling Larry Platt!

University of New Mexico football player Deshon Marman was tossed off a flight at San Francisco International Airport this week because his britches were too baggy. Yahoo Sports reports that “San Francisco police got a call about 9 a.m. (Wednesday) that someone was exposing himself outside a US Airways gate.”

That someone was Marman, who was returning from the funeral of a high school friend.

US Airways forbids “indecent exposure or inappropriate attire,” and the plane’s crew apparently thought he violated that rule.

“I paid for my ticket and I’m just going to do what I have to do,” Marman responded when a flight attendant asked him to hitch up his trousers. That went over about as well as tampering with a smoke detector in an airplane bathroom. Police officers unloaded all 150 passengers and …
