Tom Hanks discusses Julia Roberts with B 98.5 team

Tom Hanks visited with the B 98.5 FM Morning Show team, including producer Jessica Forkel. Her flip flops were a big hit.

Actor Tom Hanks stopped by the B 98.5 FM studio this morning and cut up for a few minutes with Morning Show crewmembers Vikki Locke, Kelly Stevens and Jessica Forkel.

“You are in Julia Roberts country,” Locke noted as Hanks sat down to discuss his new movie, “Larry Crowne,” which co-stars the Smyrna native.

“She brags about it to this day,” Hanks quipped.

In the movie, which Hanks directed and co-wrote, he plays a middle-aged guy who returns to school after losing his job. Roberts plays a professor. The film comes out July 1.

Locke praised the upbeat nature of the movie, given the career and economic straits so many people are in these days.

“We fight the cynicism with ‘Larry Crowne,’” Hanks said. “All of this comes down to a personal battle between you and your day, and how do you make progress?”

Stevens focused on what was really important: the on-screen smooch between the two stars.

“It’s going to win 66 Oscars,” Hanks pledged. “They’re going to actually add categories. We’re going to sweep!”

As a College Instructor, Go GPC, I know the phenomena of non-traditional students going back to school is more common then you might think. The situation is timely and Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts are the perfect people to bring this to the big screen.

Funny, I never cared for Hanks when he was on television. As a movie actor he has given us some fine stuff. “Saving Private Ryan”, “Forrest Gump”, “Big”, “Philadelphia”, come to mind quickly. The man can act. He seems like a nice guy too.

This isn’t Julia Roberts country and hasn’t been for years. She left Cobb county because it’s a dump.

Tom Hanks says the economy is a personal battle between you and your day and how you can make progress…you win that battle and make progress when you vote out Hanks and Julia Roberts’ favorite president…B. Hussein Obama!!!!!!

@Howard:

Hanks was referring to cynicism, not the economy.

@TPD..What’s wrong with flip flops at work? If the company allows it, it should be no big deal..The owner and VP of the company that I work for wear them..The owner has actually worn them to meetings with vendors..He’s 77, so guess he’s earned that right..

As one of those ‘non-traditional’ students, I can truly relate to this movie. I was laid off in 2008, started back to school in 2009 after not being able to find work and finished my prerequisites for nursing in May 2009. I recently started my nursing program. I’m looking forward to seeing this movie as I love Tom Hanks!

Why do so many people think we want to look at their unsightly feet?
