Ryan Reynolds, Robert Duvall and more: Star sightings, filming updates

Morning folks. It looks to be a busy week for filming this week in Atlanta.

Here’s what I know.

“The Change-Up,” starring Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman, is back in action. The movie, coming out in August, filmed all over the place earlier this year – Turner Field, downtown, the Georgian Terrace, etc. It looks like they’re doing a few retakes, and Reynolds and Bateman are both back in town.

The project set up shop at Phipps Plaza on Sunday. We hear they’re going to be filming a big outdoor mall parking lot scene at North Point Mall in Alpharetta tonight, and that it’s going to be raining in the scene. So, if you drive by and wonder what’s up with the very localized thunderstorm, mystery solved.

During a break on Sunday, Reynolds and director David Dobkin had lunch at Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse in the mall. A few tables over Billy Bob Thornton was there with his wife and daughter celebrating Father’s Day. Also Sunday, Kevin Bacon and Sean Hayes stopped by to say hello. Hayes is here shooting “The Three Stooges.” Bacon’s here to work on the Billy Bob Thornton movie “Jayne Mansfield’s Car,” which is filming in Cedartown today.

Robert Duvall, who is also here for “Jayne Mansfield’s Car,” is a fan of New York Prime. He’s been spotted in the Buckhead steakhouse three times in the past week or so! He and his wife also like the Buckhead Diner. They had lunch there on Saturday.

“Jayne Mansfield” also stars Pierce Brosnan and Dwight Yoakam.

“The Three Stooges,” which has been filming at the Atlanta Civic Center, has now moved back to Cartersville and is shooting there today. The project had done some filming in the Bartow County seat a few weeks ago.

Moviemakers Peter and Bobby Farrelly are hockey fans and watched the NHL championship at – where else? – Stooges Sports Bar on Howell Mill Road the other day. We hear Jennifer Hudson, who has signed on to star as a nun, will join the cast next month.

“American Reunion” has been in Midtown and over in the Druid Hills area. We’ll let you know when we have updates on any of these projects that might affect your commute.

Sean Hayes is filming The Three Stooges, not American Reunion.

Cedartown might be a bit more west of ATL than north.

Thank you for not running down what they had on their plate while dining out. Also, what might affect one’s commute may not be the actual set-up and filming of these movies, but it could in the long run have something to do with the “play-by-play” celebrity sightings that you comment on. Could that not cause the celebrity followers with no jobs during the day to run down to some of these sites and empede the flow of traffic? Silly. Just silly!

nannykeeper I suppose that’s possible but some of these projects do shut down roads – The Walking Dead recently shut down a portion of the highway in Henry County, and then an intersection in Cobb County, to film some scenes. So folks who normally travel in those areas might have wondered what was up.

Mebbe,it’s just people not being acclimated to the summer heat because the post in the last week sure have been a little more snarky than normal for the Buzz blog. As for me, I enjoy the celebrity updates.

Dear Mr. Ed I have given up wondering why people read the entertainment blog then complain it’s full of entertainment news. Sort of like going to the Aquarium and complaining it’s full of fish. *Shrug.*

It’s kind of funny that people read Jennifer’s blog and get pissed off that she wrote about celebrities in a celebrity blog. I truly don’t understand. If you have a problem with the blog, don’t read it. I find it interesting as to what the entertainment industry is up to in Atlanta. The more celebrity sightings, the more business.

Yea we saw Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds @ Phipps yesterday filming. Reynolds looked mad skinny or maybe it was those sick emo jeans he had on. Also, shout out to the extra walking around with the stupid umbrella. “Better back up they are shooting a movie here”. No kidding bro, I couldn’t tell by the lights and actors over there.

HAVING THESE SIGHTING BROUGHT TO OUR ATTENTION IS GOOD FOR THE LOCAL BUSINESS. IT IS VERY GOOD FOR THE ECONOMY. WE NEED MORE OF HOLLYWOOD IN THE STATE. AS WE ALL KNOW, JOBS ARE MUCH NEEDED. SO YOU PEOPLE WHO DON’ T LIKE THIS COLUMN…….DON’T BOTHER TO LEAVE COMMENTS OF A NEGATIVE NATURE…………..

I’m more inclined to see a movie if it was filmed in Atlanta. I think it is a nice exposure for us. We’re getting more mainstream movies filmed here instead of ones like that gawdawful ATL skating rink movie. >:(
