Morning folks. It looks to be a busy week for filming this week in Atlanta.
Here’s what I know.
“The Change-Up,” starring Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman, is back in action. The movie, coming out in August, filmed all over the place earlier this year – Turner Field, downtown, the Georgian Terrace, etc. It looks like they’re doing a few retakes, and Reynolds and Bateman are both back in town.
The project set up shop at Phipps Plaza on Sunday. We hear they’re going to be filming a big outdoor mall parking lot scene at North Point Mall in Alpharetta tonight, and that it’s going to be raining in the scene. So, if you drive by and wonder what’s up with the very localized thunderstorm, mystery solved.
During a break on Sunday, Reynolds and director David Dobkin had lunch at Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse in the mall. A few tables over Billy Bob Thornton was there with his wife and daughter celebrating Father’s Day. Also Sunday, Kevin Bacon and Sean Hayes stopped by to say hello. Hayes is here shooting “The Three Stooges.” Bacon’s here to work on the Billy Bob Thornton movie “Jayne Mansfield’s Car,” which is filming in Cedartown today.
Robert Duvall, who is also here for “Jayne Mansfield’s Car,” is a fan of New York Prime. He’s been spotted in the Buckhead steakhouse three times in the past week or so! He and his wife also like the Buckhead Diner. They had lunch there on Saturday.
“Jayne Mansfield” also stars Pierce Brosnan and Dwight Yoakam.
“The Three Stooges,” which has been filming at the Atlanta Civic Center, has now moved back to Cartersville and is shooting there today. The project had done some filming in the Bartow County seat a few weeks ago.
Moviemakers Peter and Bobby Farrelly are hockey fans and watched the NHL championship at – where else? – Stooges Sports Bar on Howell Mill Road the other day. We hear Jennifer Hudson, who has signed on to star as a nun, will join the cast next month.
“American Reunion” has been in Midtown and over in the Druid Hills area. We’ll let you know when we have updates on any of these projects that might affect your commute.
