Carlos Santana, in town this weekend for an event at Turner Field, blasted Georgia’s new law cracking down on illegal immigration.
“I represent the human race,” said Santana, who was born in Mexico. “The people of Arizona, the people of Atlanta, Ga., you should be ashamed of yourselves.”
HB 87 is meant to combat illegal immigration by increasing enforcement powers and requiring many employers to check the immigration status of new hires.
Santana, who received the “Beacon of Change” award at Sunday’s MLB Civil Rights Game, called the legislation, signed by Gov. Nathan Deal on Friday, “anti-American.”
Here is a link to the full story on Santana’s remarks.
Were you at Sunday’s game? Do you agree with Santana or Gov. Deal?

and my ancestors came over unwillingly on a boat. But for those that have been here for 10 years or longer there was no gate or no door WHY? Because America turned a blind eye to “illegal immigration” and now that 15 million people are out of work America wants to do something about it. to late it would be to costly to deport that many people and would give this country no legal standing on any other international crisis or affairs for generations.
We are…who we are because of WHO we are a nation of immigrants.
So why dont we ask our elected officials to simiply streamline the process so that those that are here can pay a fine and get to the back of the line.

Mr11688,
You are absolutely incorrect with your bit about illegal immigrants paying taxes. Yes, every single person (legal, naturalized, illegal, tourist, etc.) pays a sales tax. Thanks for the news flash, captain! But get with the program, they DO NOT pay income taxes which is where most Americans are hot hardest. Pull out you pay stub and notice the difference in gross pay and net pay. Imagine that you got to have the gross pay number. How much better would life be? Illegal immigrants do not know the difference between gross pay and net pay because they only get gross pay. Huge difference. Like I said, get with the program. You make yourself appear quite ignorant when you type out 8 paragraphs to prove your point and most of it is littered with fallacies and inaccuracies.

I love all these people that use the tried-and-true argument of “well, a bunch of other people broke the law before, so what’s the big deal?” I wish they were my parents growing up.
Typical liberals…they ALWAYS leave out the word “illegal” when speaking of “our great country is made up of immigrants and blah blah blah.”
The problem is that most of their constituents (dare I say, perhaps even Carlos?) are a bunch of stoners that sit around keeping up with the Kardashians or wondering if Snookie is giving nookie instead of reading up on the subject.

There are million of millionaires that are paying any federal income taxes…where are your cries for them to be kicked out the country? The fact that you read my post and didn’t understand WHAT I was saying proves my point you rather get rid of hard working people and keep the unworking or could careless if they ever work again “Americans” (yeah I see why you support Deal.) I work hard and I pay taxes but I hate that I “subsidize” for other willing people to sit home.

I love love love Carlos Santana’s music but, the las time I saw him in concert, which was about 6 years ago, I swore, would be the last, he stopped the music and started his politicing. Who the hell comes to a concert, to here someone talk about politics. then, he goes on to talk about the rich, WTF, he is the rich. He is an ASS, Carlos is irrelevant and conceded. He loves himself, he claims at least at one time, he was a Christian, he is a liar, a Christian, would never say the things he says. He is judging.

Mr. 11688,
Never once did I say that I am a proponent of free government handouts. My take is this: they are illegal and for that very reason they need to be punished and/or deported. Additionally, any U.S. citizen that is harboring them and helping them elude authorities or employers who are employing them should be criminally prosecuted. It’s the law! Now, in terms of lazy people we have in this country, there are many of them who do think they are too good to do menial jobs. Stopping government handouts will curb that. But there are inevitable the ones who are willing but are being undercut by illegals who will work for less, cannot take workers grievances to anyone because they are afterall illegal, and can be fired with no severance pay. In many cases, that is hard to compete with.
I answered your question. Now you answer mine. You claimed that everyone pays taxes. I refuted that claim by pointing out that everyone pays sales taxes but illegals do not pay income taxes. Care to dispute that? Care to dispute that large companies such as Longhorn’s are employing illegals and paying them through loaded Visa prepaid cards?
By the way, studied abroad in Mexico City for a while and speak Spanish. Love the Spanish and love the people! They just need to come legally.

The hardcore racist Carlos Santana once again claims that his people and all people that look like him should be exempt from obeying American laws. He claims they must be allowed to sneak across the American border at will and steal the identities of American citizens as well as our jobs, etc.
Santana has exhibited the very essence of racism.

My point was that they paid SOME taxes your friends like to believe that they don’t pay any taxes and I was simply saying that was not true. Anytime you purchase anything anywhere in Georgia you pay a sales tax period. Furthermore there ARE Americas very wealthy Americans that pay NO income taxes HELL GE didn’t pay any thanks to tax loop holes so where is the uproar about that?
I see we agree about those that are out of work that are abusing the system BUT I disagree with the fact that no matter the pay some people if not all will not do the job. Case in point down in middle Georgia farmers are willing to hire Americans but they simply don’t want to do labor intensive jobs like picking crops lawn care etc it doesn’t have to be a labor intensive job down in LaGrange the Kia suppliers are always hiring and you have to show proof that you are legal to work to get hired. If what you are saying is true then they should have a hiring waiting list but they don’t why? Is it because of illegals? NOPE…its because those than can wont take those type of jobs
As far as Longhorn I am not an employee of that corporation so I cannot comment but if you have information why don’t you share it with local authorities? A lot of companies are switching to auto direct deposit or debit cards it is just a sign of the times it doesn’t necessarily mean that illegal activity is going on its just a more efficient way of doing business. And beside less paper usage is better for the environment
Ok I get you and others want them to come here legally what about the ones already here?

I have a few questions I need answered.
1. Why and the heck is MLB conducting a “Civil Rights” baseball game? 2. Why is baseball blurring the line between sports and politics?
3. What’s the connection between Carlos Santana and baseball?
4. Who cares what Santana thinks?
5. What part of illegal does Santana not get?
6. George Bush who was duped by Vicente Fox did all Americans a disservice when he said “Illegals take the jobs Americans don’t want.” That was a very presumputous statement that’s not remotely based in reality.
7. When will libtards get a clue?

Most of you making comments using hotwords like ‘illegals’ and ‘liberals’ and ‘rednecks’ really are not adding very logical viewpoints, nor ones with a decent historical perspective. Fox Nes does not count as History 101.
First, to the ‘non-liberals’, whatever that is ( conservative? ): Your fave prez, George Bush Jr, sat on the Texas border for EIGHT years as governor and did NOTHING to stem the tide of ‘illegals’ pouring across that border. Why? Because his rich buddies in corporate farming ( not little guys, iow ) need, and have for DECADES, cheap labor and they get it in ‘illegal’ aliens.
Second, ‘illegal’ aliens are the backbone of the biggest contributor to the produce industry: California. Kick them out and the bottom falls out of that industry.
Third, the farmers who hire the pickers have been providing shelter, medical care, and education for decades. This started with the small farmers and still exists everywhere in the country.
Fourth, what do big empires in serious trouble do to keep the populace ( e.g. the majority ) distracted and from taking to the streets? They create games/entertainment and scapegoats. ( reference Rome on its decline and Germany on its rise – and fall ).
Do I really need to continue?
You are being swept up into fervors of emotionalism. The politicians could give a crap really which side of the fence you sit on, so long as you’re all arguing with each other or buying sporting tickets or stuffing your faces full of pizza etc etc etc. The LAST thing they want is real unity amongst the electorate. “Together we stand, divided we…..”. That’s right. FALL.
It’s not the ‘illegals’ you should be mad at nor each other. You should be banding together in a common cause for Freedom. Freedom from further invasion of your privacy, from being led around by the nose with distractions, freedom from being told by the media how to think. And, yes, here I will agree 100% with Mr.Santana: Free from fear.
These are hard times. You want to throw bums out? You want to direct your frustrations and fears somewhere? Direct them at the banks you bailed out and who now charge you double the service fees. Direct them at people who buy fleets of yachts and laugh while some Middle Class Shmuck actually convinces himself that a party primarily now interested in the ‘rights’ of the greediest in our country, those with the most money to protect, and who pay the fewest taxes all things on balance…that anyone ‘up there’ gives a rats backside about you and your 50G’s a year ‘lifestyle’.
Heck, even some Repub leaders are trying to court illegals. Why? Because there are SO MANY of them. Throw them out? Are you freaking kidding?!!! It can’t be done and it’s offered only to make you feel better about the threats to your own futures.
I’m not going to join you in hating an entire group of people. Who’s next? The Jews? Wake up idiots. Some people are trying to give you a scapegoat, that’s all. They don’t care about ’solutions’ but you bet they’d slaughter every last Hispanic if they thought that might appease you from voting them out or taking to the streets and holding the people who are REALLY accountable for job losses responsible. These poor Hispanics are NOT the ones who kicked the jobs out of this country. They are NOT the ones who required BILLIONS in bail outs. They work hard by and large and for every criminal white person there are criminal black people and criminal hispanics etc etc. Add poverty, a lack of food, and a lack of education and you get what Mexico is right now: run over with drug cartels who have no interest in the realities of the average Mexican.
Honestly, you need to look at the entire picture.
And I totally support Carlos speaking out. It’s about time someone got a back bone in this country who wasn’t funded by the Koch brothers or blaming the poor and uneducated. Everyone says something like the Third Reich could never happen here. Yeah, well, there was a time most Germans believed that before Hitler too. States passing laws like this might seem trivial, even justified, but they’re the tip of an uglier iceberg waiting to surface. When History is written for our time, what will be said of YOUR position? That you were saluting the Fuhrer? That you joined the ‘fight for right’ or worked as a guard in a prison camp? Work makes you free? Sound familiar?
And btw….MOST of you don’t have a fifth of Santana’s accomplishments or talent, and you know it. He’s more than earned his right to speak his mind and I hope to see more people like him saying,”Wait…wait….slow down before you throw that stone…THINK….THINK….for gods sakes…..THINK!!!
Or, to quote a dead ‘hippy’ ( did someone actually use that word? LOL ) named Jim Morrison:

Thank you Carlos Santana for speaking out. This has always been a nation of immigrants and scapegoats. If we want to end “illegals” we’d have to deport all whites back to Europe and Blacks to Africa, but that is not realistic, and neither is deporting Latinos. There is no border for Walmart, Nike or Ford to go to Mexico, Philippines or other places to exploit workers. There is only hatred and attacks for poor people. Poor whites and poor Latinos and poor Blacks have a lot in common, they are really not each other’s enemy even if pitted against each other. God bless you Carlos Santana for speaking the truth. Those who know it’s the truth and it rubbed them the wrong away with react because it’s the truth and you will sense the defensiveness in their comments and attacks. I say hurahhh for Georgia and Arizona, and that it’s the rest of America that should be ashamed for not adopting more immigration laws like them. Our insurance rates for Americans are through the roof ,and our elderly can’t afford perscriptions ….all the while illegals are getting their medical bills and drugs paid for by hard working american tax payers. Not to mention them collecting social security from which they never paid a dime into. So, CARLOS I believe that it is the rest of America that should be ashamed for not adopting tougher immigration laws a long time ago letting this great nation get into this shape to begin with. Also to the bleeding heart liberals and the ACLU, we will NEVER be able to protect our own borders from outside threats as long as you are are screaming about racial profiling. If you know a certain race is killing your citizens on the streets and bombing buildings and killing your loved ones[fathers , mothers , brothers , and children ] then it’s STUPID not to profile.

Hey Shoeless Joe Jackson I agree. Are you Neil Boortz? Either way it doesn’t matter, I was just curious. Yes, we have to do something about “illegal” immigration and that’s the bottom line folks. We cannot be serious about homeland security and protecting our borders if we are not willing to confront the illegal immigration problem. All the people who want to be passive on this issue, why don’t you go try to live somewhere else illegally and see how fast your behind will get thrown in jail or shipped back home. (faster than a tick on a New York minute)
Rules and boundaries are in place for a reason and that is to protect us. We cannot seek to redefine every policy, standard and boundary in this country. If this is you..just stop. We are still one nation under God and founded on biblical principle.

Carlos Santana is an airhead that knows nothing about America and Civil Rights.
America generously allows a million LEGAL IMMIGRANTS in each year. We are a target for the scofflaws of all nations that come as ILLEGAL ALIENS, such as the Russian Mafia, Salvadoran MS-13, organized crime of Mexican drug cartels and the Muslim 9/11 terrorists. Most LEGAL IMMIGRANTS and ILLEGAL ALIENS come from Mexico.
In the last 15 years millions of legal immigrants from Mexico have followed their dream to America. They respect our laws, culture, freedom, opportunity and people. They have gladly submitted to extensive criminal background checks and health checks. They have paid $1,000s in fees, proven financial responsibility, agreed to not be a financial burden on our nation, learned English and waited patiently to become citizens of the U.S. and pledge their allegiance to our nation. They are honest, have integrity and good character and are welcome additions to our community.
During the same time millions more have come from Mexico illegally to make more money. They have overstayed visas and stolen across our borders like sneak thieves, disrespecting our laws, culture and citizens. They are anarchists, further breaking our laws by using stolen Social Security numbers, fraudulent identity documents, driving without valid licenses or insurance, lying on I-9 forms and taking American jobs in an unholy alliance with criminal employers. They suck services and tax dollars from our economy and could care less about the very real and very extensive economic damage they have caused to American workers through lost jobs and reduced wages. They are dishonest with poor integrity and tarnished character. They have proven themselves to be unworthy of the most valuable citizenship in the world.

Are you serious, are you an idiot, to say the pilgrims were illegal immigrants is moronic. There is really no talking to you, you believe the words of your liberal reps, “fairness” when really what they want is to control every aspect in your life. The way they start to win this control is to preach “fairness” and you are too stupid for me to spend my time how this turns into control. FYI, mexicans, illegal or legal these people are not liberals, they are trying to get away from a country that the liberals in this country want to have the usa become, so why would the mexicans side with the liberal party in usa. Give them a vote, you got the black race because you installed it into their entire culture, you are the reason blacks cant get over slavery. Mexicans are not liberal. Seriously? We see this all the time from aging movie stars, former celebrities, and now former drug addicted rock stars as their careers (and their finances) fade. Rather than take the honorable course and consign himself to being just a well paid studio musician, old Carlos makes the same mistake that other failing stars make in assuming that he can rebuild a fading career if only he gets enough media exposure. As a musician and former Santana fan, this is truly very sad. I make it a point to avoid any activity that transfers any of my income to any of these self serving losers. With such an enormous catalog of music behind him, and with so many of his former band members and associates depending on the income from selling CD’s, it’s outrageous when someone like Carlos decides to make “the product” part of his own curious “politics”. Doubtless if illegals were making a negative impact on the recording industry, Old Carlos would be out there demanding our government do something about it, just like all the musicians who joined with the RIAA to insure that nobody plays their stuff unless they get a royalty check. Sad, but fortunately Santana’s time has passed. Does he even still have a recording contract?

Lets put the issue in pragmatic terms that even Carlos can understand.
Overpopulation, congestion, urban sprawl, crumbling infrastructure, diminishing resources, crime, pollution, vanishing farmland and green space, water and energy shortages, lack of affordable housing, overcrowded schools, hospitals, jails, the balkanization of our communities, depressed wages, increased tax burdens, the marginalization of American workers, students, taxpayers, voters, the overall decline in quality of life are all the result of unconstrained immigration and lax enforcement. Indeed, there are no problems confronting America’s citizens that would NOT be immediately and measurably improved by securing our borders and enforcing our immigration laws. China, Mexico, Great Britain, the European Union, the Middle East, most of Asia, have all adopted zero tolerance policies for illegal immigration. These same nations have also implemented practices to identify, incarcerate, and deport illegal aliens already operating within their communities. Likewise these same countries have adopted policies aimed at curtailing legal immigration, limiting such legal immigration to only that which is prudent, only that which is demonstrably necessary, only that which can be readily assimilated, and above all other considerations, limited only to that which is in the best interests of their native populations! It’s dangerously misguided to even suggest that the United States not do likewise! Like it or not folks, regardless of how politicians, the media, and failing rock stars try to spin the narrative, the fact remains that “too many people competing for the same limited resources is NOT, and NEVER WILL BE, sane, sustainable social, economic or environmental policy! Hope that clears up the confusion that this is in any way an issue of race.
