Lil Wayne talks retirement

AP photo

Lil Wayne plans to hang it up in a few years to become “a full-time dad,” the rapper told a radio interviewer.

He made his widely reported remarks on Angie Martinez’ radio show. S2S Magazine’s site is among the many reporting his retirement newsflash.

“I’m gone at, like, 35. I’m serious. I have four kids,” he said. “I would feel selfish still going to the studio when it’s such a vital point in their lives.”

The performer also known as Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. isn’t yet 30, so he won’t be disappearing from the music scene for a while.

By the way, keeping up with Lil Wayne will be a little trickier now that he and Twitter have parted ways. MTV, citing an interview conducted by Paris Hilton, reports Lil Wayne has declared he is “on Twitter strike” due to technical difficulties.

“I just shut my Twitter account down because it got hacked,” he said. “Once it got hacked, I had Twitter fix it, they changed it and then it got hacked again, so I just shut it down.”

Say what you will about Wayne but the fact is-he is impactful
Also, when he was a kid he was shot in the chest & survived!

His biggest mistake was not copyrighting the Phrase “Bling-Bling” Those two words comprise the single most influential input/impact on urban and pop culture & has outlasted most contributions people make to their respective field…

However, what impresses me most about Wayne-is He NEVER writes lyrics….when He’s in the studio he is spitting from his memory & his mind…I applaud Wayne for his contributions to Hip-Hop, Pop, & Urban Culture…he has even changed the focus of his lyrics over the last few years.

I just wish he would keep his pants up & stay out of the penal system. Ok-since I know he won’t pull his pants up-just stay out the Penal System…

Just because some people are in awe of this guy because they have never had the standards by which they measure talent elavated. It does not make this man any more talented. He is a part of a generation of recording artists who can’t sing, don’t perform with any instrument, don’t write music, don’t read music, and can’t even dance! To walk around a stage using profanity (cursing out your audience), and citing rhymes comprised of vulgar lyrics and bragging about that fact – to have this viewed as talent just shows how low the bar is amongst his audience. You don’t even need to have any real interest or talent in music to impress the music buying public today. You can go into any ghetto or hood in America and find an illiterate drop-out with no musical skills at all, and play some beats in the background while nursery rhyme slang and profanity is recorded over the track – and that’s considered music. No wonder they don’t want to finish school and get a job.

99 Cents

I’m going to give everyone my 99 cent worth this time. So listen and pay close attention please. I’m a white guy that pretty much has no ear for rap music. I’m a guitar player and have been for most of my life in and out of bands since I was about 15 and I’m 43 now. For many years I used to look down on all this rap stuff because of the violence it brings with it. The thugs it turns into rap stars who are not able to leave the thug life behind. Those that call themselves gangsters turned rap stars and still live a life of breaking the law. But over the years my views have changed towards these people. It’s not who they are or who they have become it’s why they reached where they are. They will always have the haters for it but the plain truth is talent has many forms and the talent these people are striking into they would have not got into with out the talent they have. Rather they came off the street from the projects or walked in with a silver spoon in there mouth is it anyones business other than there own? So what he had four kids and with four different mothers. It’s his life not yours trust me four or five is normal I have seen men with over ten kids and most of the time in and out of jail. He has the money to have as many as he wants. And if he decides to drop out of sight and be a father then you guys should be wondering how someone you call a foul mouth rap star with no talent could see his future as such. The man has a plan and all of these rap stars needs one. Some of the guys will live forever in the music they have let the world. It’s a path of wisdom just because you don’t have the millions they have is no reason to hate them or knock what they do have or how the got it. I have seen many of these people do a great deal of good in ways not many other people in the music industry has. Well there is my 99 cents worth and maybe even a full bucks worth depending on how you soak it in.

You need to start being a father as soon as your children are born, and start preparing before then. Don’t wait until they have been indoctrinated by other people.

Okay, this doesn’t make since to me. If he’s going to “retire for his kids”, he should go ahead and hang the hat up now. I mean, let’s be honest, his kids are only going to emulate him and everything else in the pathetic, vain, and astronomically repulsive Rap/Hip-Hop world. His lyrics, as well as the lyrics of his other “music”-mates, glorify drugs, gang activity, illicit and immoral sex, and brutal violence. Not to mention his “music” is auto-tuned, computerized, unoriginal, stale, repetitive, and a constant violation of womens’ rights. But anyway, back to the actual issue – his kids. Like I said, they’ll simply emulate him and his lyrics. That being said, he’ll end up a grandfather by age 35 anyway. He’s an abomination and should be sorted out now – not when he’s 35. I’ll be glad when he’s out of the music realm.

When will the AJC learn? Never I guess. They probably get a good laugh on the “opinions” offered on these blogs. Whatever you think is the truth, you have the American right to have that “opinion”. No matter how ignorant most of your opinions are.
Rappersequalnotalent, you have no earthly idea what you’re talking about. I’ve been listening to clowns like you for years spew about the worthlessness of rap music. You’ll never get it. You think all rap music is about misogyny, drugs, violence and sex. Not so. Most mainstream rap music is about that. Plus, most mainstream rap music is reflective of what Americans really value- money, sex and guns. We claim that we despise these things, but the reality is- we don’t.
As for Lil’ Wayne’s supposed retirement, I say make as much money as you can Wayne until then. But you probably won’t stay retired for long. Jay-Z’s retirement lasted like two seconds.

When he retires he should move to a lily white town in segregated Ga. and marry his first cousin, as a way of keeping it real. Start rapping about small town values, like humpin’ his sisters, mother, dogs, sheep, and other things our pale skinned brethren do in small towns

@tiredofit–wowwwwwwww.—- @patrick-”…go back to school?…” you have so many errors in your post that YOU yourself apparently never attended school–hey maybe you can become a rap star!!! lil wayne, you are on the map, do whatever makes you happy. put your children and God first and may the Lord bless you. you really are not so different from any other artist in any other arena– actors go to jail, country singers go to jail and rock and rollers go to jail. emulate greatness in All areas of your life and stand alone and be different in POSITIVE ways. you have achieved much, now reach for more.
