NeNe Leakes: Star Jones “is a disaster”

NeNe Leakes of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” and more recently, “Celebrity Apprentice,” will appear on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” today. The show airs weekdays at 4 p.m. on WXIA.
According to a transcript the show sent us, they’ll be discussing Leakes’ fellow “Apprentice” cast member Star Jones.
They’re not exactly best buddies.
“She is bossy, she is manipulative, conniving,” Leakes said of Jones. “She is controlling. I think that she knows. Yeah. She looks in the mirror, she better know.”

Jones has been vocal about Leakes as well, telling Daytime Confidential, “We’re not on the same level. Let’s make that clear. We’re on the same show.”
In case that was unclear she added, ”Cream rises to the top and water seeks its own level.”
Jones also noted, “They cast the show based on what they thought would generate good ratings. This was not a show about friendship.”
(And if everyone got along, who would watch, right?)
Apparently their relationship was strained from the beginning.
“When I walked into the situation, I tried to walk in with no preconceived notions,” Leakes told DeGeneres. “I was just thinking, ‘Okay, I’m going to do the show. I’m going to get to know who Star is.’ I think she had preconceived notions of who she thought I was just from watching me on the ‘Housewives.’ I think she thought I was going to come in and take over. I tried to get to know her. Some people are difficult to get to know. She’s not easiest person to get to know. She is a disaster.”
Could they work things out?
Uh, maybe.
“I don’t think she’s easy to get along with,” Leakes said. “She’s a tough girl. We’re kind of okay. I’m trying to feel her out right now.”

It is so hilarious to hear and read people dis Nene. While her personality leaves a lot to be desired from what can be seen on the RHOA, she obviously is doing her job because she’s making the entertainment circuit and making a name for herself. And if that’s her goal, well, she seems pretty successful to me.

All of that “Girlfriend,” “Strong” black woman stuff is over used and too loosely applied. Yes, there are strong black women – history is replete with them – and there is unity among men and women in the black community. Still, like the term “Diva,” these descriptions are over-used and used in instances where they simply do not apply.
There are many exceptions, but I am just sick and tired of all of the “hood rats” who call themselves “Strong black women” what they are just the opposite. The call each other “Girlfriend,” then call each other “Bitc#es” in the very next breath. How can a woman with any sense of pride and decency call herself a “female dog?”
These women profess unity while at the same time, they sleep with each others husbands. We are in trouble in America. While morality is suffering in women across racial lines (as well as gender lines – not to let men off the hook) it seems that the decline is being not only led by black women, but most glamorized by them.

NeNe is cool. She’s a bit ghetto, but cool. She shoots straight from the hip and I like that. Star is very intelligent and that’s why she makes such huge asinie mistakes. She’s full of hersef. This clown was on a talk show saying she has only 2 years of college verses Star Jones 100 years of college and she gets paid as much as Star Jones. You would think this dumb woman would not make comments like that since she and her son both was college drop-outs. She has to use her name to influence people to hire her son. @the race baiters on the AJC blog (I’m with the other posters who can’t quite understand why the staff allows this nearly everyday??)…anyway, as an educated accountant myself who has actually written a term paper on the disparity of African Americans serving mandatory minimum sentences for non-violent felony drug convictions, I am aware that the African American population in the U.S. is rounded to about 15% while from 1985 to 1995 the prison population saw an increase of minority prisoners (Blacks and Latinos) due to DRUG CONVICTIONS, receiving harsh sentences without acquiring or having the luxury of affording a proper DEFENSE! Not robbery, murder, etc. In all actuality, we leave the robbery, serial murders, rapes, and incest for our white counterparts to partake in. Check the FACTS on the percentage of black SERIAL KILLERS in America, let me know what u come up with, haha! Those are some FACTS for you and please do tell what reason White perpetrators have for going around raping and murdering innocent people?

As a man who happens to be black, I agree the black crime rate is way too high. We need to be cognizant of the image this fosters from a racial standpoint. And yes, unfortunately RACE is ever present. However, intelligent people realize that every person is an individual and should not be sterotyped regardless of crime stats. With 80% of TV programs catering to dumbing, NENE is perfect.

The AJC has no intention of moderating these forums. Anytime, anyone Black does anything where they can get people to rant and rave and sling racial slurs, they’re all for it. This is the online version of a rag magazine, with all the lies and nastiness that one can stand. I caught that too–about her appearance. Let the truth be known, that yes there are alot of more black people than white people in jail. It’s because alot of white people get away with their crime. Look a Charlie Sheen and Mel Gibson, both beat the crap out of women but everyone loves them. Then you have Chris Brown who beat the crap out of Rihanna and he served jail time. The justice system is not fair or there would be more white people in jail.

@Val, lets not forget if your black and you fight dogs you spend 2 years of your life in jail, lose all your worldly possessions and must fight to have even half of a life, yet if you rape kids as your hobby and you happen to be white, you can get a smack on the wrist (especially if your a little league coach or Catholic priest). Double standard to say the least, but more than 70% of blacks and latinos in prison are serving mandatory minimum sentences for NON-VIOLENT felony drug convictions, that’s it!

Often times I ignore the race-baiters, I laugh being as though they troll the stories covering famous African Americans then ask over and over “who is so & so”… I sometimes wonder where or if they got an education at all, I mean why would one spend so much time in a realm/blog/site that disguisted them so?? Really, is everybody goin “Charlie Sheen Crazy” these days? LOL!! Anyway, there are other times (few & far between) where I can’t help it, especially the ones who claim to state FACTS about my people without substantiating it. I love to educate!

I think all of this is about one thing: attention. And on some level isn’t that what so called entertainment is supposed to do, get our attention? We live in such a chaotic crazy world and women are a strong force but what has happened to being a lady who is powerful, and with grace and ease she can move mountains? Have all women become bulldozers just to get attention? And then wonder why their relationships fail when the 15 minutes of attention i.e, fame fades? Being a woman is the one the most glorious sisterhoods there is and I don’t care if you are black, white, pink or purple. This is not about Barbie Doll girls this is about FEMININE WOMEN. When one person has a degree and another one doesn’t, they are considered substandard.? Aren’t we ALL valuable and worthy in God’s eyes, no matter what we bring to the table.? That’s like saying, that because you have money and I don’t, you are the most valuable; if I put $2.00 in the collection plate, and you put in $2000, God loves you more than me Fortunately, all the value that a person holds in this life, doesn’t come from having a law degree, money,or the most friends. OK! We can all point fingers at each other and whose race is superior. The fact of matter is we all have problems in this country depending on demographics. I mean look at Charlie Sheen and the idiot who shot the congresswomen neither are person(s) of color. We have lowdown, disgusting people in every corner of this country. I don’t think Bernie Madoff was of color or any of the politicans outright cheating on their wives. The problem in Atlanta is the large population of African-Americans and the horrible image portrayed in the media. Star and NeNe are not on the same playing field one has a Juris Doctorate “Law Degree” the other I assume has a High School Diploma. Star should allow NeNe to make an idiot of herself and not lower herself to unwarranted drama.
Atlanta has become a bed of hate when minorities started to appear in segregated communities and marching into corporate boardrooms. There are people who can’t handle the success of our people; therefore, kill them with kindness dare not banter on a worthless blog. Wake up people stop defending people you don’t know as a result of race. NeNe will cash or deposit her checks as uneducated as she may appear from time to time. In this case degrees don’t matter. I, personally, do see Nene as being extremely “vocal”, so I choose not to watch her show. I have personally never been a fan of Star, so I choose not to watch anything she particpates in either. However, Star is not elevated above Nene because of knowledge. They both are doing what it takes to keep their names out there. Whether you love them or hate them – they are getting paid regardless.
The one degree that alot of people don’t have, which to me Star seems to lack and that is a CSD “Common Sense Degree”. It was evident in the gentleman that she chose to marry.
Never will I put down a person because of the education they have – sometimes being educated isn’t enough – especially if you aren’t doing anything with it.

itamazesme: I agree with you 100%; however, if everything ended for Star the fame and public limelight. She can always walk back into a courtroom and make a successful living. We have to push education whether we step on toes or not. It’s way too many nameless celebrities ended up homeless and broke as there was no formative education to fall on. I get so upset that our community continues to downplay education; however, my kid will be the next Beyonce’ or Kobe mentality. The school of life will only take you so far; however, book sense will always be better than borrowed.

Becky: Please not that we are called African-Americans as this the mother land from which are people were taken and brought to America and placed in slavery. I am sure you have seen African people or just google Africa and take a good luck. The ironic thing is that women were raped and humilated by white slave owners which diverted the color of our skin and hair textures. Also, note that slaves were sold to other nations and so forth which made our race a HUGE melting pot. I hope this helps!!!! Sad huh……

The logic is very flawed to suggest that character trait of an indivdual is synomynus to a group. Mrs. Leakes is representatve of Mrs. Leakes. Condaleeza Rice is repesentative of Condaleeza Rice. Both women are total opposites in character and don’t represent all black females. Personalities are diverse from person to person and character is different from person to person. To make a genralization about race based on personality and character isn’t very bright. African Americans have survived in our country for years under inhumane laws and inhumane behavior towards a person of color. I highly doubt that crime,drugs, poverty, iliteracy or anything you can imagine will be the cause of extinction of the Black Race. African Americans are survivors and will continue to survive and we will hurt one another and also love one another. We have a legacy of overcoming obstacles and being Survivors. Peace and Love to all.
