Gucci Mane: “I’m so big in Atlanta”

Gucci Mane does not dream small.

The Atlanta rapper talked to The Source Magazine for its April “Green” issue.  He said he wants to be “the richest person in Atlanta,” and that he’s becoming so famous he can scarcely live his life.

“I’m so big in Atlanta right now, I can’t even go outside,” Gucci says in an excerpt the magazine sent us. “It never used to be like this. Now old people, white people, all people know who I am. Like people almost wrecking their car to take a picture of my car.”

Gucci says people have followed him home seeking an autograph and that a police office once pulled him over just to see his ride.

“Yesterday, I’m in my Ferrari, I get pulled over, the cop comes to the car and says, ‘Sorry, I just wanna see the inside of your Ferrari.’ I swear to God.”

Gucci was detained briefly when Henry County authorities raided the home of fellow rapper Waka Flocka Flame in December, but he didn’t discuss that.

“I can’t really go into detail, but I was detained, released, and wasn’t charged with any crime,” Gucci said. “When you go through stuff like that, you just got to shut your mouth and wait ‘til it blows over.”

Records show the artist, whose real name is Radric Davis, has been in the Fulton County Jail at least five times since 2005 on drug, aggravated assault and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges. But Gucci’s all about looking ahead.

“When I came out of school, I had a 3.4 GPA,” said Gucci, who went to Georgia Perimeter College. “I was always a smart guy. I always prided myself on being a challenger and making challenging decisions. I’m not perfect, but I definitely try my best to be a good person that makes wise decisions.”

@Young Black Men on the road to Extinction
You are correct
Let me tell you something, for whatever reason kids in the hood are guillable and followers. Belive me I just did 4 yrs in another state (if you know what I mean) and 80% of the black inmates was blowing their entire day arguing who was the best rapper or what rapper made money than so and so. They ABOLUTELY could not in any capacity talk about anything else except hip hop gossip, something has to happen but it all starts in the home. BUT most brothas and sistas do not have a father figure which would help. On top of that a majority of the brothas 40+ yrs old in age acted like they were 18.
Its a downward spiral Im not sure we can get out of because it seems that ignorance is celebrated. Trust me, the other day when I was in Downtown Atlanta I literally did not see ONE black male under 40 in a suit and tie …IM SERIOUS ……NOT ONE. We both know that there are some but I was down there but I am telling you I was down there for
2-3 hours on Peachtree Street in the midtown area and it blew my mind because I see this up north (where I am from ) also.
all the brothas under 40 were just “hangin out”.
It appears that the thing to do now is to hope you get a music deal and party every nite. Hip Hop has this powerful grip on these guys.

Thanks to Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings, *THE* Dumbest quote I will hear or read this week will not come from Gucci Mane, Gilbert Gottfried, the New York Liberty’s Cappie Pondexter, Michael Gearon, Bruce Levenson, Arthur Blank, Miley Cyrus or our JiveTalker-in-Chief.

Good Work, A-P.

don’t know him, don’t want to know him. Obvioiusly he and Charlie Sheen are good friends what’s next sold out 1 man concert. Sorry he has Tiger Blood and the Warlock got his back he’s winning. Please give me a break he is as for as I’m an embarassment to the human race let alone the black race. Sorry I call it how I see it.

Is he not the douche-bag who was arrested for allegedly killing someone? And by the way ANYONE who gets a freaking ice cream cone tattoo on his face is a moron I don’t care how much money you make. However, when his rap career fails (and one day it will) he could probably gt a job at Carvel.

Not a good looking man. Doesn’t seem to be blessed with an overwhelming amount of intelligence. Needs all his money and “fame” to land a girl. Hope he can stay out of jail.

@Kristy – Yeah Gucci Mane did kill somebody in self-defense a few years back after he was ambushed in a female friends home who set him up to be robbed, this was the event that began his legal troubles of the past five years. I wonder what you would do if you were ambushed, would you die or would you kill to save your own life? Would that make you a d-bag also? Just wondering…

@ATLbound – hit a nerve did I? Wonder no more…..when you put yourself in situations or associate with the type of people who will put you in situations like this, yes you are a douche-bag. A low class thug douche-bag.
